Very cute and the beds are so comfortable. The patio is especially nice for enjoying morning coffee or listening to local music in the evening. Can walk to all restaurants and even the river.
We enjoyed a long weekend in Salida. No Artwalk this year, but still fun. Location of this condo is perfect, you can walk to anywhere in downtown Salida from this condo.
This gem was an amazing find! Love the history, the decor, and the location of this property. So much going on in this little town and being in the heart of it was such a bonus! We will definitely be back!
This is the best VRBO we have stayed in. It felt like a home-stocked like a home and very comfortable. The history of this actually being a speakeasy and the way itâs decorated is fabulous!
We have family in Howard and Buena Vista so it was a great meeting place.
You canât beat the location, close to everything.
We will definitely book this place every chance we get. â€ïž
Great spot, cute rental and we enjoyed ourselves. One thing is there is a bar downstairs that is pretty loud, so if you are not a party person late at night, getting a good night sleep on your agenda, this may not be the place for you. Totally out of the owners control obviously, but worth noting.
Great Location and Great Accommodations in Downtown
Our family of four stayed here for a few days during spring break to ski at Monarch, and we could not have picked a better spot. The condo is larger than it looks in the pictures, and is decorated/furnished really nice. The sleeping arrangement was perfect for us, as we have two high school aged kids, so they were able to split the sleeping between the second bedroom and the fold-out couch.
The location is only one block from the river and hiking access to the "S" mountain behind town, and all the restaurants and shops are within easy walking distance. There are some reviews that mention street noise at night due to the central location, but we did not experience any noise, and we were there Saturday night on St. Patrick's day.
We had two other groups that met in Salida that week for skiing, and they were all jealous of the Speak Easy condo.
The owners were very helpful and communicated immediately when we had any questions, and the whole process was very simple. We are planning a return trip this summer, and once we get our dates finalized we will hopefully be able to reserve this one again. If you are planning a trip to Salida, I would highly recommend the Speak Easy!!
What a great place! The speakeasy-themed space absolutely did not disappoint! The walk-up might be ideal for all travelers but it suited us just fine. The beds were wonderful and fans throughout the space with a window unit kept things cool in the middle of July. The back patio was perfect for morning coffee. And if you are there on most Mondays or Saturdays, the bar next door has excellent live music! We will most definitely be back!
The apartment is right in the thick of things, which was perfect since we were there for a bike event. Fun decor heartening back to Prohibition and loved the apartmentâs history as a speakeasy. With a lot going on in town, we had some difficulty with parking and had to carry our stuff a few blocks. The streets by the apartment are 2-hour parking and the main public lot across the river says no overnight parking. As long as youâre okay moving your car a few times, itâs not a huge deal.
As a working vacationer we found this stay extremely comfortable and accommodating!
We were appreciative of all the amenities, location and the historical photos, objects and references we could enjoy while we stayed. The owners were willing to help us when we asked and we were glad we were not asked to do a bunch of cleaning and extra work after we worked so hard all weekend! Beautiful place and fun to stay!
If Salida is the heart of the rockies, then this place is the heart of Salida. Such a cool living space with unique decor that shows the history of the town in a tasteful manner.
Place was clean with everything you could need. Earplugs were provided if the bar noise downstairs got bad. We stayed on 4th of July weekend so knew it might get noisy but it really wasn't that bad.
The Speakeasy Condo was a great little place right in the heart of downtown Salida with a lot of local charm and plenty of comfort. It was perfect for a nice little getaway with an easy check-in and everything we needed on hand.
My name is Julie, I have owned the building since 1989. We just remodeled the upstairs to attract short term renters like yourself. I operate my business J2 Softwear downstairs. I make custom polar fleece clothing. Stop in and say hi if you like. If you have any questions about getting around or what to do, where to eat I can help out.
Our property is located in the largest Historic District in Colorado right downtown in out little town of Salida. The property was built in 1899 and has had many businesses throughout the years, including billiard hall, casino, restaurant and we believe a speakeasy. Come stay and feel the vibe from 117 years of history at your doorstep.
The property is 1 block from the river and the river park. Live music can be heard from the park and from our neighboring tavern, Bensons. There are many restaurants and bars within walking ditance so park your car and enjoy checkiing out town on foot. The back deck offers views of the surrounding mountains while "S" Mountain and its mountain biking trail system is right out the window. Staying downtown you will get a good feel for the flavor of a Historic Mountain Town. The Speakeasy is a licensed short term rental with the city of Salida, License #0404.
