Town: Located in the picturesque county of Shropshire, this charming 700-year-old market town is at the northern eastern extremity of the world-famous Wenlock Edge. Considered the birthplace of the modern Olympic Games, the town is filled with a mosaic of twisting alleyways, black and white half timbered buildings, limestone cottages, specialist stores, fine taverns and restaurants. Explore the fascinating Norman cathedral, the Old Gaol House, and the ruins of the majestic 12th-century priory. Wenlock Edge, which is around 15 miles long, rises above the town and is a great place to go walking, biking, or horseback riding because of the beautiful scenery. Nearby are the great mediaeval towns of Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth and Ludlow, the World Heritage Centre of Ironbridge with nine museums and Blists Hill Victorian Village, with the outstanding Wroxeter Roman City and Stokesay Castle.
