The apartment is in the centre of Newhaven (meaning "New Harbor"), a Historical and Conservation area of Edinburgh.
It is one of few apartments in historical fisherman cottages. It is a bright, romantic, clean and quiet lovely house with its private entrance.

This Bright Apartment has just been renovated. Its offer you a lovely and quiet place where to rest after a busy day around. There are two bedrooms, in the opposite parts of the apartment, so you can have a lot of privacy. You have a spacious living room, a lovely kitchenette and sparkling bathroom.

Newhaven is a beautiful and peaceful place where you can find everything you need but out of the noise and busiest roads. It is also part of Leith and in 5 minutes walk you can be in Ocean Terminal with is Shopping Centre, Omni centre if you enjoy cinema.

In the same street you can find a traditional Scottish pub, a Fishmonger, a Hairdresser, a good Cafe, take away, bike rental and a lot more. Climbing gym, Fitness centre, Swimming Pool, big Asda just 2 minutes away.

IMPORTANT The City Of Edinburgh Council set a Tourist Levy of 5% on the basic nightly price of the first 5 days of the stay. It will apply on booking made from the 1 October 2025 on stay from the 24 July 2026.
So if you book today (2/10/25) a stay on Jan 26 you will not be charged. If you book today for Sept 26 you will have to pay the 5%. If night stay is 130x4=520 you will pay £26 extra. I will send you money request for the TAX if apply.

This is a sweet little flat. So close to the water and a number of pubs and places to eat. Easy access to city buses - so easy to use and very affordable. About 10 minutes by bus to the center of Edinburgh & Royal mile. Flat was clean and comfortable. Shops close by for snacks, wine, etc. a few hiccups with the WiFi and internet but it eventually got sorted! A great place to stay!

Roberta was wonderful, and easy to communicate with. the place was exactly what we needed, and comfortable. Only glitch for us was that there was a washer, but the radiators were the dryers- the machine did not do double duty. But we are familiar with this process (have radiators at home) and everything worked fine. The placement of the home made for an incredible view for walking- with the ocean, pier, and harbor; it was easy to pick up the bus and a tram! There was even a mall and grocery a short walk away. I have a bad knee, but I was able to make it. Enjoyed the walk back with the groceries tho- that is not on the apartment, just the lifestyle!- and it was one that we appreciated. If we come back again, I will look for Roberta, and at securing this apartment again, easily.

Awesome spot to stay!

We enjoyed staying here very much! The place was very cute and comfortable, clean and cozy. Felt like home! Just a short walk to restaurants and the waterfront, with easy access to bus lines to go to the city center.

Wonderful place to stay

Newhaven is a great area and this place was nice and clean. Everything we needed was close by and it was a short drive to Edinburgh. We fell in love with Scotland!

Everything was fine, the apartment itself and the surrounding with restaurants, pubs, supermarket and so on.For breakfast we can recommend The Haven!I only missed the personal contact for check in. But we arrived late.

Nice Quiet Spot Outside of Ediburgh

We had a great stay at this apartment in Newhaven. It was so nice to be walking distance from the ocean and to leave the hustle and bustle of busy Edinburgh behind for quiet restful evenings. It was an easy tram ride into the city. The apartment itself was great and Roberta was a very helpful and generous host.

Quaint and Convenient

We had a marvelous stay at the flat in Newhaven. The location is great and conveniently close to restaurants and the Asda store, in addition to the harbor. It was clean and had all the needed amenities. Roberta was very kind and helpful. She provided assistance when needed and great tips for sightseeing. .We really enjoyed our time in Edinburgh.

Lovely Little Apartment

Roberta is an excellent hostess and her place Ins quite lovely! Perfect spot to enjoy your stay in Edinburgh…far enough from hustle/bustle but close enough to everything. Especially wonderful if you don’t have a vehicle…easy access to the tram and local bus system… and easy walking distance to shopping, restaurants, spa/gym, and lovely sights. Thank you Roberta!

Peaceful, cute, cozy home

My daughters and I really enjoyed our stay in Roberta’s cottage. It’s in a quiet area but the tram up Leith walk to downtown Edinburgh or on to Murrayfield stops a block and a half away. Communication with Roberta was fast and easy. Thank you, Roberta, for not gouging us during the T Swift weekend, too. We highly recommend staying here.

We appreciated that the flat was well equipped with everything you need in daily life. A range of basic groceries was provided, too. Super markets, tram/ bus stops and restaurants are only a stone‘s throw away, which was great. Even though our host made sure the flat was well cleaned and we had windows opened whenever possible, a smell of mildew and chlorine cleaner was ever-present. Especially clothes worn at night picked-up the mould. That is why we would not stay there again (especially not with small children and not for > £330 / night in super high demand season), unless the flat has been properly refurbished.

Old port charm

We stayed 3 nights at Roberta’s place. The location is quiet and easy to find via bus or tram. There is a charming pier-like area really close with restaurants and bars. The center is about 20 minutes away by bus. The apartment was very clean and Roberta left many personal touches for us as guests. We were happy to have a washing machine and a big clothesline outside (and lucked out with a sunny day to dry things). The apartment was a bit smaller than we expected but it worked fine for the 4 of us. Roberta was excellent at communicating and very helpful and friendly! Fair value for sure!

Clean, pleasant, in peaceful neighborhood

Spouse and I stayed here 3 nights with our 2 year old. The surrounding community with the fisherman cottage homes was lovely and a world away from the tourism-and-shops of other parts of EDI. The waterfront right there is nice, the nearby ASDA is a store for all your needs, and of course the tram gets you into town. We wished we had explored Starbank Park nearby. Communication with Roberta was excellent. She let us drop our luggage while she cleaned, since we arrived a bit early. Provided a cot for our little one and chatted with us about the neighborhood. I think the only thing we didn't care for was how hot the shower got. It was tricky to keep it in a reasonable range. Rishi's indian restaurant, around the corner, is fabulous, a perfect way to welcome yourself to Edinburgh. They treated our little one like royalty and kept her entertained, although she was jet lagged.

Perfect for us

We loved our “get away” apartment in Edinburgh. It is located literally across the street from the water and seconds from the bus stop, which we used many times since the apartment is not centrally located. The bus system is great. We “old” folks who are not as adept at using phone apps as our younger friends, still found the bus and tram app accurate and user friendly. Also, the drivers are very helpful. The #16 takes you directly downtown and back. Soon, we were old pros. The apartment itself is efficient and well stocked with linens and kitchen supplies although we never cooked. (The Pier House restaurant across the street is excellent for both breakfast and dinner. We ate there several times.) There is a tiny, but well stocked grocery store for basics (no fresh meat, limited produce) including a post office about a block or two from the apartment in the direction opposite the water. Uphill all the way. Neighborhood is quiet. Roberta was easy to contact and very receptive to our needs and questions. My husband injured his foot the first night we were there and Roberta was very kind and helpful. If you are looking for a quiet retreat away from all the hustle and bustle of downtown, this is your place.

Newhaven Two Bedroom

The residence was very clean when we arrived. The kitchen is well stocked with most items one would need, so that was nice. The host was quick to respond to all of our questions. She was very kind and communicative with anything we needed, including flexibility around an earlier check-in as we were traveling from the US carting large bags. She also provided some delicious local snacks for us to sample, which was great. There were a few issues that brought our review score down. The first issue-there is a picture captioned "Exterior" on the website, which we assumed was the exterior of the residence. We booked assuming we would be right on the water, and were disappointed to find that while close to ocean front shops, it wasn't on the water as the "exterior" photo led us to believe. The futon/couch was incredibly uncomfortable and needs to be replaced. Same with the mattresses on the beds, they were both very well worn. The location was close to a tram, and the distance isn't far from Edinburgh, but with traffic it took on average 40 minutes to get downtown on the train. That ended up being much longer than we anticipated, which was disappointing. Know that if you are traveling with a group, the bathroom is centrally located and has a french door with windows on it. There is a curtain, but there is not much privacy. These issues aside, it's a budget-friendly location for visiting Edinburgh, and the host is very kind, considerate and communicative.

Dear Amber, I am sorry you were not happy with my place, I suppose each of us has our own different expectation but I would like to speak about your points. - About the exterior picture I just noticed that I named a picture as "exterior" that show another place and this is clearly a mistake I made and I will correct it, apologies for this. - The beds mattress are only one year old and are orthopedic ones, I started to rent out this apartment less than 2 years ago and bough mattress then, what do you mean with worn out? - About the sofa bed. It is a futon, between the two part of mattress there is a space that I fill with a foam for make it comfortable. Sorry, how many where you? you booked for 3 people, you didn't say you need to use the sofa as bed or I would have prepared it comfy for you. Thanks, Amber" a shame you didn't say anything or I would come or explain how to make the sofa properly. - About city center distance there are 3 different options, with the bus 11 it will take 15 minutes. - In Scotland all bathroom doors are with glass for allow the light to pass through, I own 3 apartments and lived in few other places and all are like that. I live in a different part of the city, I sometime came in Newhaven and always been so fascinated from this unique houses and the beautiful romantic place with its lighthouse, few traditional restaurant/pub in front of the sea, its beach close by and gorgeous views. So I bought this lovely place.
