Property was clean and was like pictures. The only complaint I have is the ring doorbell that announced every time someone or something was outside. There are many deer in the area and to hear that at all hours of day and evening got very annoying.Also, the nest thermostat has a setting that when it doesn’t detect movement, it does not come on. Everyday we came back to a house that was 80 degrees. I understand trying to conserve energy but when guests are there, that feature should be shut off.

Everything was as advertised, though we didn't use the kitchen. We couldn't get the fireplace to start and one of the TV remotes batteries were dead, but otherwise everything was great.

We chose this property because of the picture on the site with a Mountain View. There is NOT a view. The picture is old and needs to be taken down. The house needs a lot of updating. The hot tub is old, the deck needs replaced. We couldn’t watch tv in the bedroom because the batteries in the remote were corroded. I could go on and on….I do not recommend!

This is a great central location for exploring the high country around the Banner Elk, Boone, Blowing Rock area. A welcome break from high temps back home, however be mindful that the back deck of this rental is not covered and the sun can be quite oppressive in August. The mountain view from the back IS significantly obscured by tree leaves during the summer. I'd recommend a good, heavy pruning or topping of trees to improve this. Nights on the back deck were heavenly and we spent many hours there in quiet conversation enjoying the peacefulness, hot tub, and stargazing. Each morning i'd count all the deer out the kitchen window and especially got a kick watching the fawns frolicking around just like dogs. The Birds Nest is older but very nicely maintained and well stocked. Beds were comfy, excellent leather reclining sofa and the AC worked great. Kitchen had plenty of everything.... be sure to explore ALL the cabinets and drawers if you are cooking. Hardwood floors throughout the main areas were lovely and not one squeak! Hairdryer in each bath cabinet, extra towels, spacious baths, roomy bedrooms, each with a TV. We enjoyed hiking or other adventures during the day, listening to live music each afternoon just down the mountain at Grandfather Vineyard, then dinner in Blowing Rock or Banner Elk. Checking calendar now --already thinking of a return trip to the Birds Nest. Tip: I always travel with my own small fleece blanket, and it came in very handy here

My husband and I stayed and it was very comfortable for the two of us. It had everything we needed and hot tub was a bonus. I love the fact that it was close to stores and restaurants.

Delightful week enjoying the cooler temperatures of the 3800 ft elevation!The cabin was bright and SO clean, we could even walk barefoot without any grit whatsoever on the floors- not typical for many rentals. The home was well maintained. It was better stocked than the included description online, particularly in the kitchen area. It was a pleasant surprise and allowed more versatility cooking meals. The king mattress, pillows and bedding were super comfortable! Loved the reclining sofa to relax on while watching TV or the moonrise. The pics in VRBO only showed winter views from the porch. The property management Roscoe Realty had no summer pictures and said they did not know what the view would look like in summer. We were hoping for mountain views, liked the location and layout of the home so we took a chance. The summer view off the porch is largely obscured by verdant tree foliage. Porch faces southeast. Nice morning sunlight. We didn't use the hot tub or grill, but nice to have those amenities. We enjoyed visiting Grandfather Mt and Lynville Caverns, about 30 minutes away. We noticed & appreciated the many touches of German decor :-) Made it feel more like a home with character. Accurate directions to location, easy self checkin and checkout. Glad we stayed here!
