The Cornmill at at Ballystockart Cottages, your home from home.
Ballystockart Cottages enjoys a peaceful rural setting yet is a close commute to Belfast. The building was converted in 2002 from a working Cornmill which dates from the 17th century and retains original features, giving it a quirky cottage feel. The property is self contained and has its own entrance, only your party will have access during your stay. The Corn Mill has a first floor living space with a large window to view the surrounding countryside and vaulted ceiling. The primary bedroom features a king size bed and is on the first floor. The second bedroom on the ground floor features two single beds and has an en-suite (toilet, basin, and shower). The main bathroom is on the first floor and has a luxury walk in shower. The property is semi-detached and enjoys a peaceful rural setting with ample room for free parking. WiFi is available. Other things to note: We care about the environment and try to operate in the most environmentally friendly and sustainable way possible. A proportion of our electricity is provided by solar panels. We encourage guests to consider switching lights off when not in use, conserving water where possible, and to recycle during their stay with us.
Our week stay at the Cornmill was fantastic! It was even better than expected. it's a quiet place in the country but still so close to Dundonald and Comber. Only about 15 to 20 min drive to Belfast. Lindsay was a very responsive and kind host. We can not wait to come back and can not wait to recommend the Cornmill to anyone we know heading to the area. The views are amazing, plenty of room for a family of 4. Everything you need to cook, washer and dryer which was so helpful for a long stay. You just can't go wrong staying at Lindsay's place. Thank you for opening your wonderful home and making us feel at home.
Our stay was disastrous. We found out on the day of our arrival that the shower was out of order due to a broken glass panel. Then, there was no air conditioning as advertised. In the end, they offered us a 100 refund as compensation, which we never received. Also, be aware that there are three flights of stairs to climb. A place to avoid, run by dishonest people.
My family and I have been local to the area our entire life, we love the area and love sharing it with our guests. I enjoy making people's stay special. I leave the level of contact that I have with guests up to them.
The cottage has views of the countryside and Scrabo tower. There are many local town amenities in Comber and the surrounding area for those who want to be active, relax or explore with kids. Belfast is only a short distance (30 minutes by car) for exciting tourist attractions and shopping.
Our property is a family run business operating for over 25 years, the building itself is unique and a part of history to the surrounding area, in the 17th Century it was a working Cornmill making flour.
