Historical Cottage with Castle Wall Entrance Gates and Victorian Walled Gardens
Our lovely historical cottage is located on the Rame Peninsula in a small waterside hamlet with a harbour. The castle wall entrance gates and Victorian walled gardens are signs of its former life as the Head Gardeners Cottage on Mount Edgcumbe estate.
Excellent property in beautiful location. Excellent for dogs with the walled and enclosed garden and local walks. Proximity of Plymouth via the Cremyll ferry a bonus in terms of interesting things to do, eating out etc. A very relaxing holiday enjoyed by all.....
Bay Cottage
What a delightful cottage in a picture postcard setting.
Whoever chose the interior design for this property got it spot on without ruining the character of the place. Lots of interesting nooks and crannies, loads of books. The windows all look original with float glass which is lovely, but the heating was excellent despite the weather being foul during our stay.
The sofas were really comfortable and there was a high back armchair which was just perfect for my husbandâs bad back.
The whole place had a really good feeling to it and the communication from the owner was brilliant.
We only used the main bedroom but it was massive and the bed really comfortable.
My husband is over 6â and he was pleased about the ceiling heights and doorways, just one beam across the stairs on the way down. He should be used to it as our ceilings are low!
Mentioning stairs may seem odd, unless you are older or have small children but these were not the vertiginous stairs you often find in old cottages. Good rails either side and easy to negotiate.
The garden was completely secure for our Golden Retriever and full of interesting spots.
The kitchen was well equipped and easy to work in.
The whole place was fascinating, with all the sections of walled garden and various old buildings, including the folly. A short history of the buildings and grounds would be a welcome addition to the handbook.
We will be back.
Our family is lucky enough to live on the Rame Peninsula and we have enjoyed welcoming visitors to this lovely part of Cornwall for almost two decades.
