This was a great stay for our family. We went fishing and went into town. Itâs not too far from the city and close to Saratoga springs. The hosts were really helpful and friendly
Everything we needed for a relaxing waterfront getaway. Property was well equipped, mornings and evenings spent kayaking and relaxing on the lakefront deck. Saratoga Springs Travers Day weekend a short ride away making it a winning combination. Great restaurants nearby. Jeff and Amy were great hosts. Definitely on our agenda for a future return visit. đ
Location, Location, Location! & a serviceable quirky cottage for two friends
A more idyllic quiet lake location can't be found. Jeff is very friendly and responsive to questions. The spacious front deck looks out on gorgeous lakefront and hills and has lovely furniture and an umbrella for shade all day long. My friend & I ate most meals there (I burned mosquito coils--it's buggy but hey, that's lake life).
The cottage quirkiness is in the layout and furnishings. Fresh flowers were a nice touch. Bedrooms are cozy small (no closets), & storage in the 2 main bedrooms is minimal. My friend & I would hesitate to call the 3rd 'bedroom' a bedroom. It's tiny & not a place we'd want to use as a bedroom as it has a futon on the floor--maybe suitable for a small child if the odds & ends stored on open shelves in there were removed.
Bathroom is on the opposite side from bedrooms--so a bit of a walk if one has to get up during the night. But it's spacious with a nice washer/dryer, tub/shower (with a very slow drain). However, there is nowhere to place toiletries as the vanity counter is too small. Linens & towels are plentiful & plush. A small table with shelves in there would be very useful--especially since it's a shared bathroom (there is no space in bedrooms to keep toiletries).
Kitchen is very functional; the eclectic mix of well-used dishware could benefit from a purge to remove numerous chipped plates & mugs. Some of the teflon pots/pans should be pitched because teflon finish is worn off/very scratched.
There was no kayak; there was an old canoe.
The lake house is a cute property in a nice quiet location. Lake and dock access is through a small piece of community property which is a very nice park-like setting. The updated house is clean and comfortable with an open floor plan. The owner is very responsive and easy to work with.
Things to know: no closets in the bedrooms / third bedroom is very small / tub drains very slowly.
I would rent again and would recommend for couples or small groups.
We had a wonderful weekend at the lake house. It was a chilly weekend but we were nice and cozy. Jeffrey was a great host and super responsive, which we greatly appreciated!
My wife and I live on Saratoga Lake, we have a grown son (Matthew) and daughter (Jacqueline). I own and run an environmental firm (NETC) which provides consulting, drilling and remediation services to our clients in NY and NE. We spend as much time on the water (swimming, boating, windurfing & fishing) as we can. When I'm not on the water I'm riding (HDvdsn & Peddle varieties), running, working in my perennial gardens or expanding the back nine wood lot on our property. I'm an avid skier, primarily skiing in the Adirondack Mountains and since 1986 I've been a member of the National Ski Patrol. I enjoy staying active and don't spend much time inside ... "work hard and play harder".
