There is a grassed area to the rear of the property and plenty of parking. Please note: This property does not allow dogs.
The property was clean, well furnished, warm and comfortable. The niggles mentioned in earlier reviews had been resolved. The property company sorted out an issue with hot water within an hour on Boxing Day.I will happily book to stay here again
The setting and view from the cottage were great. Dale, the location is a quiet village with couple of nice pubs that served great food. Unfortunately they were shut for the first two days of our stay. The cottage had great potential but was marred with irritating defects. The kitchen area whilst usable lacked storage space for provisions. The ice box of the fridge freezer was solid with ice. No attempt to defrost had been made. The kitchen lacked pot brushes and scrubbers that normally would be provided. The nearest shop to purchase these items was a 40 minute round trip on the quiet country roads. The front door of the property felt insecure and had to be lifted or slammed to close it. There was no table near the settees where you could place a cup of coffee. One of the chairs by the bay window needed fixing or replacing. The beds were comfortable and clean.Sadly, the people managing this property are letting it down.
Upon arrival we noticed a few spiders, no big deal. Our daughter took a bath in the stand alone tub and noticed water on the floor. I noticed a "wet dog smell" in the bedroom before I went to bed. Around 4 am I felt like I was being bitten by something. I contacted the property company at this time. I went back to bed, around 5 am I heard a sound that sounded like a candy wrapper and something crawling into my ear. I smacked it, not knowing what it was. When I turned on the light (husband was not happy) I found a brown spider about the size of a US quarter. I promptly contacted the property managers and moved to the sofa area. When my husband awoke and I explained my story he began killing spiders in the bedroom only to find a nest at the head of my bed. The landlord came by late morning to look at the situation. He was nonchalant about the matter. He told me he would have a cleaner stop by and fix any of the issues about the bugs and smell. He dismissed the tub leak as our daughter was "splashing around" (she's 26) He also gave us the option to leave, which we had no other place to go. A cleaner did come and vacuum the webs and mopped with an old mop from the shed, hence the "wet dog" smell. My husband took a bath to test the theory of "splashing around" the tub leaks! During check out we stripped the bedding to find that the pillows and comforters had blood stains on them, YUCK! The location is great, but it is just a money "maker" for the landlord.
