Truly outstanding place. Simple, late 1800's house; two bedrooms with comfortable queen beds and a loft upstairs that has 5 single beds. Beautiful wood, simply and tastefully furnished, and immaculately clean. Even the grill outside looked much better than mine at home. Beautiful view of Georges Lake from the living room and porch, and only 20 feet from the dock. Swimming was temperate and peaceful with few other people on the lake, and a fun diving board on a large rock about 1/8th of mile out. Blueberries and raspberries in the woods beside the house, and large fields of wild blueberries on Georges Pond Road only a 1-2 mile drive away. We enjoyed staying here, swimming a couple of times a day, and driving to Acadia for a hike a couple of the days.
Thank you so much for being great guests and treating our home as your own. Please come again.
Lake living in a rustic setting - doesn't get better than this!
We had a beautiful stay in this cottage! The loons at night, eagles swooping into the trees during the evening, the kids diving off the rock-island diving board at noontime, and kayaks throughout the day. Coffee on the back porch, star-gazing under clear skies!
Accessibility to Acadia is a huge plus, but was not the main goal of our stay. True rest and relaxation was our goal, and boy was it achieved!
Everything we needed and more
If your looking to disconnect, unwind, and recharge this is the place for you. This was the perfect little cabin, with an amazing loft and fire place. The views of the pond are breathe taking. Take a kayak out and see the pond, or grab a fishing pole. I woke up at 5 am one morning and went fishing. I caught 5 small mouth bass and a nice northern pike. Prob 14 inches which was a first for me. Literally everything I ever wanted in a stay in Maine.
Thanks for being great guest! So glad you enjoyed your time.
Unique, rustic, homey, inviting, loved decor, lake front beauty
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Camp Hartley. It was a great home base as we discovered the awesome creation in Acadia Forest, Bar Harbor and surrounding areas. The house is cozy and quaint. Beautiful interior design for what has been done so far. As with any property....refinements and improvements are a process. We really enjoyed the indoor fireplace on damp rainy days and the outdoor fire pit when the weather was clear and breezy. The beds were comfortable. The dining room provided a place for family meals and games! Cooking on the cute reproduction stove and the grill outside worked great for us! Shopping in Ellsworth was convenient and reasonable! We hope to vacation here in the future. Danielle Hartley kept open communication with us and met most of our family’s needs as they arose. 😊
Fabulous cabin on George's Pond
We loved our stay at this charming cabin. It was the perfect setting to unplug and connect as a family. We enjoyed hanging out at the cabin and having fun on the lake (the kids loved jumping off the diving board in the middle of George's Pond)! We also had fun going on adventures in Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Highly recommend -- it was our first family trip to Maine, and we will definitely visit again!
