we offer you a unique chance to experience the beautiful Gulf of Sicily in a XVII century House, located in Balestrate. Balestrate is located less than an hour's drive from some of Sicily's premier tourist attractions. Some of the 'must-sees' of the island include Palermo, Monreale and Cefalù with their impressive artistic heritage, Agrigento for its temples, Segesta for its Greek theatre and temple, the beautifully preserved medieval stone city of Erice, the archaeological park of Selinunte, and the reservoir of Zingaro.

How to get there: By Airplane: Fly to Palermo airport and then take the freeway A29 Palermo-Trapani for around 15 minutes (exit at the exit for Balestrate). of car, to exit 'Balestrate'. We are located approximately 20 km from Palermo airport and 180 km from Catania airport.

By Train: From Palermo station, take the train for Balestrate.

By Ship: From the Port of Palermo, take the freeway A29 Palermo-Trapani and exit at the exit for Balestrate. From Naples to Palermo by express ferry - Departure: 4.30 pm - Arrival 9.30 pm

Love, love, love, the house, the town, the hosts

We spent two months in this lovely town, in an amazing house. Piero and Natalia were excellent hosts. The house is well equipped and the terrace is wonderful. The weather for November and December was very comfortable, even able to swim in the sea. The folks of Balestrate were kind and very helpful. The quality of the food, from meat to fruit and veggies to fresh baked bread and pastries was very good. Balestrate itself is an easy town to walk so you dont need a car. The train and bus very convenient to travel the island. Thank you to Peiro and Natalia and the whole island of Sicily for a great two months!!

No cumplio nuestras espectativas

Nos encontramos con varias cosas que hacen que nuestra valoración no sea positiva. Piero nos solicitó mas dinero por la limpieza de sabanas y toallas, cuando según la descripción del apartamento no aparecía este concepto. Anteriormente le había enviado un mensaje preguntando si había algún gasto adicional ante el que no hubo respuesta. La información sobre el pago extra nos la dio el dia antes de viajar, con lo cual nos quedamos sin opción de mirar alternativas. A pesar de que Piero nos dijo que no había problema con el ruido del Pub de al lado, las noches de Viernes a Domingo hubo actuación en directo. Esta bien si quieres oir música mientras cenas, pero no si lo que quieres es dormir. Lo peor. El apartamento decía tener dos baños, pero solo tenía 1. Parece que la confusión vino de que se consideraba una ducha en la terraza como un baño. Tampoco había microondas (a pesar de que la descripción lo indicaba), aunque en nuestro caso Piero ofreció uno que rehusamos dado que no teníamos previsto realizar comidas en el apartamento. Por último el apartamento está en el último piso y no hay ascensor. Lo cierto es que es un apartamento con una decoración sencilla, pero de buen gusto y con muy buenas vistas, lo cual hacía que la estancia fuera agradable. Pero estaría bien que la descripción del apartamento avisara sobre la falta de ascensor. Los colchones no eran tampoco confortables. En resumen. Piero es un buen anfitrión y el recibimiento fue cordial y eficiente y nos dio mucha información para facilitar nuestra estancia. Sin embargo la valoración general ha de ser negativa, basicamente por no cumplir las descripción anunciada, especialmente el número de baños.

Hello Miguel Thank u for review the Advert is written that elettricity is not included as the same as towel and sheet and cleaning. It is never mentioned that the house has elevator. On sunday there is Music live. I aked you many times if all was ok, and you always mentioned "yes"

Luxe huis???

De werkelijkheid is totaal anders dan de titel doet vermoeden. Het huis is verre van luxe, sterker nog het is een vies en warm appartement op de tweede verdieping. We zijn daarom de volgende dag vertrokken en de rest van de vakantie in een heel leuk hotel verbleven in de buurt. Wel dien ik op te merken dat de verhuurder ons een "gratis" verblijf in een ander huis heeft aangeboden op een ander tijdstip.

Dear Arjen, thank you for your feeedback. the accomodation that you stayed was the same accomodation that you saw on internet and you booked , with over 20 positve reviews. The same family that come to the airport with you, from Ireland/Holland, spent them one week. I dont know that it is luxury for you but - the building is from VII century - The house was refurbishment 5 year ago - it is 50 metres far from beach and center , bar restaurant shops - The paviment is a mix of XVII stoned and best marm from Egypt - The Doors are in Murano Glass (henryglass) - The kitchen are from Stone from Etna (Pietra Lavica) - all the Doors/Windows are New. 1)The house was HOT because the air cond was in the living room. but i offered you the first day the possibiliy of having an extra Unit.Do you remember? (further i put now a new more power extra AIRCON UNIT ) 2) I realize now that the house was not cleaning properly(because you are tellingus now) but why you dint tell me? The fact is that probably you were a litte bit spoil and prefer having a pool for your stay for your children. the day after, you left without give me the chanche to speak with you or give you an alternative accomodation I have keep alle the comunication with you that i offer you an alternatives accomdation from the day after but you prefer to stay in the hotel with Pool (totally out of the center) Off course, i offered you a free week because i dint feel right that you paid but not stay (even when i booked an hotel in Holland 5 year ago, and i dint like i lost all my money) further we organize transfer from /to airport and assist you always during your stay. SO: do you think that after and overall it is right having only one star?

Loved the location and views

Firstly, I am so sorry to read about the fires that are troubling Sicily and Italy at the moment. We really enjoyed our visit to your island and hope to return and explore the East in the future. As to the apartment. The location was great, the Windows opening in all directions was marvellous. My disappointment was in the poor and broken furnishings and the kitchen was not clean. The music from 'Why Not' went on until after 2a.m. but we had to keep all windows open as the air con was not effective. Sorry to sound so negative. but I hope you will read this and make improvements as your property is really lovely. Nia and Tim O'Byrne

Very nice apartment with fantastic roof terrace

Mariella was a lovely host, and the apartment was lovely. All mod cons really, and the WIFI was a real bonus to occupy a little down time for the kids. As the for the huge roof terrace, well that is the real winner. We had cook outs up there, sun bathing, cards with kids and the sunsets were something special. We were 2 adults and 3 kids for 2 weeks around Balestrate. The food, beaches, snorkelling and people were all fantastic. We couldn't recommend it enough.

Sunshine and views galore !

We stayed in the Sea House apartment at Casa Tuzzo for the months of December and January. The apartment is on the third floor and has a wonderful south facing roof terrace which was the best feature of this comfortable apartment. We were able to sunbathe and relax out there almost daily with the midday temperatures in the sun and out of the wind there nearing 30 even during these months. The apartment is well equiped but the living space may be a bit small for larger groups, although there are two bedrooms (one very large) and there's plenty of room on the terrace. There are windows facing all four compass directions for great views of the entire bay. The harbour was down a flight of stairs fifty yards from the apartment's front door and was very convenient for walking our dog. Immediately to the east of the harbour is Balestrate's beach. We went for runs on the more than 5km long beach to the west which connects Balestrate with Alcamo Marina and Castellammare del Golfo. Breathtakingly beautiful! Especially the views of Scopello where there is also a large nature reserve with hiking trails in the hills along the seaside. Nearby we also enjoyed visiting Terrasini for lunch on the terrace on several occasions and a little further west near Palermo Mondello was also one of our favourite spots. Another favourite was Sciacca on the southern coast. We also enjoyed Corleone, San Vito Lo Capo, Trapani, the ghost town of Poggioreale, Salemi, Marsala, Agrigento with it's ancient Greek temples, Enna, Catania, Aci Castello, Aci Trezza, Messina and of course Palermo. We also loved the buzz of the main street and main square of Alcamo on a saturday evening. One last don't miss is Cefalu which is also a beautiful seaside town. Sicily is a lovely rugged island and we shall definitely return and will use Natalia and Piero's apartment as our base once again when we do so !!

amazing Sicily

We decided to visit Sicily in october and it was still "summer" and Piero welcomed us in the best way with complimentary bottle of wine, fresh fruit and "cassatelle" with ricotta cheese. The house is spacious and comfortable, close to the beach and the city center, everything is walking distance. Balestrate is very calm and cozy not far from main attractions like Erice, Segesta, Palermo, Castellamare del golfo, Zingaro natural reserve. We definitely want come back maybe in Summer.

Comfortable and roomy yet with lots of character

We enjoyed our stay here very much. The apartment has lovely views both of the pretty town of Balestrate and of the sea. The rooms are comfortable and there is a lovely feeling of room to breathe. The terrace overlooking the town is lovely, lots of sun and very private. The fruit and wine on our arrival was much appreciated and the kitchen had lots of little extras ( oil, vinegar, sugar, coffee, honey and more) which all added to making us feel right at home. It is well located at a half way point to many of the area's attractions. And a great and modestly priced seafood restaurant in town. Piero really follows up with great service and ensures plenty of information on what to do. In sum, it is charming, great value and friendly people to make sure all is fine.

Just 50 metres far from Beach and Center. Amazing!

we spent one week in this lovely house of Natalia and Piero. We were really surprised about their Hospitality . The house is 50 metres far from Sandy Golden Beach, shop restaurant and Bar. Big Terrace, and sea view from all the rooms We really reccomend it for young, old people, group and familiy

What Wonderful House , whay Unique Hospitality

We spent two weeks in Sicily: on week in trapani area, in Alcamo Marina and another week in Palermo Area, in Balestrate. Both week we stayed in one of Natalia and Piero apartments The House #419234 is absolutely one of the best place that we have been seen and stayed in our life.. it is a XVII century accomodation, with Huge Terrace, with Sea views from All the rooms, confortable in Sicilian Stile, close to the Sandy Beach (50 metres) but also 100 metres far from shop, restaurant Bar and Supermaket. Train station and Bus station is 300 metres. Parking free and safe down. The office of Natalia and Piero is also down We really spent a unforgettable Holiday. We will come back Frank

Beach,Tasting Food, Amazing Host/House: what else?

The Sea House (but also Klitm) is Amazing. it has All you need for a few days or a week or more.There is free parking in the street across from the apt, so that's easy too. Natalia knows the area and neighborhood in great detail and can help you with any questions you might have! They are awesome and left us fresh oranges, chilled water and a bottle of wine from local grapes. So nice. You can walk 50m and step into the harbour and stroll down to the beach:SANDY and BIG. Water was great, even in November. A bigger, calm beach is just a short drive away and features 9km of yellow sanded beaches! There were still plenty of shops open, even in the down season. Although the best restaurants (sapori di mare) may only open on weekends, so plan ahead. The only downside to the apt was the bar Why Not? across, which featured live music on Saturday evening and everyone seems to enjoy the places cheap cocktails, so bring some earplugs or plan to join the crowd! We did. It's a cool local hangout and people are friendly. The food is good. Balestrate is very nice. WHat ELSE?

Tolles, altes Haus in zentraler Lage

Balestrate ist ein kleines Städtchen, daß mit seinem rechteckigen Stadtgrundriß den Besucher schnell Überblick gewinnen lässt. Obwohl ohne enge Gassen ist es dennoch charmant, weil es schöne Gebäude hat. Dennoch gibt es schuckligere Orte. Das Haus ist sehr schön am Ende einer der langen Strassenachsen gelegen. Von der Wohnung und der Dachterrasse aus hat man genau Blick auf die Hauptachse der Stadt - und die Stadt auf die Wohnung. Die Wohnung liegt im obersten Stock (DG) des Gebäudes. Sie ist etwas größer als die riesige Dachterrasse. Diese richtet sich nach Süden aus, das Meer liegt im Norden. Daher hat man nur seitlich Blick auf das Meer. Dieses sieht man aber aus allen Fenstern der Wohnung. In der Küche, dem Wohnraum, wäre daher ein bodentiefes Fenster ganz schön (kleine Anregung). Die Wohnung ist schön eingerichtet. Der Eßtisch könnte etwas besser sein als der vorhandene klappbare Terrassentisch. Ebenso wäre eine Couch schön, die keine Situkuhle von 30 cm hat. Nicht allzu sehr störte uns dei Livemusik der Bar gegenüber, die Fr und Sa ab 22.00 Uhr erklang. Auch die direkt hinter dem Haus fahrende Eisenbahn störte nicht sehr, da nur wenige Züge fahren und dies auch nicht zu früh am Morgen. Uneingeschränkt schön ist der Strand, den wir Ende Oktober meist nur mit 2-3 anderen Familien teilen mussten, und der wirklich riesig ist. Zudem ist das Meer angenehm warm, so daß man lange darin bleiben kann. Andere Besucher schwärmen von den tollen Gerichten, die man in den vielen Restaurants von Balestrate genießen könne. Diese Begesisterung können wir nicht teilen. In Italien (und in Deutschland beim Italiener) habe ich sicher schon besser gegessen. Das Essen war ordentlich, aber ohne Höhepunkte - und das in eigentlich allen Restaurants, die wir besuchten. Dafür war es auch recht günstig. Balestrate hat einen hohen Anteil von Wohnbevölkerung, so daß es auch in der Nebensaison angenehm belebt ist. Andere Badeorte waren Ende Oktober verwaist. Mit unsren drei Kindern verbrachten wir einen schönen, entspannenden Urlaub in einem Sizilien, daß ich nicht so schön erwartet hatte. Es war bei weitem nicht so dürr wie andere Mittelmeerinseln nach dem Sommer, abwechslungsreich und interessant. Die Wohnung war deutlich schöner eingerichtet als die meisten Wohnungen, die ich bisher in Italien bewohnte. Das Haus ist wunderschön alt, die Lage im Ort herausragend. Die Kneipen sind belebt und angenehm, so daß mancher Mojito oder Spritz in der Bar gegenüber dran glauben musste...

Unique Sicilian Accomodation On the beach

We spent 2 weeks using homeaway web site, and we stay in 2 houses with Natalia and Piero. One week in Palermo Area and another week in Trapani Area (in a villa with pool, 1033477) The Apartment Sea Was is Unique. Very confortable and a typical Sicilian Stile. Few metres far from beach, Sandy and Gold. Natalia and Piero are very friendly and Nice people, Perfect Host. We really reccomend Both Property and Natalia and Piero Company.

Only one Word: Fantastic

Thanks for a fantastic holiday in Balestrate, Sicily. We loved our split level apartment with roof terrace which was in a very central location in the town, just 5 minutes walk from the beach. Balestrate is a great base for exploring Sicily, and there are so many beautiful places to see. We have made new friends in Piero and Annamaria, who were so helpful in every way. All the restaurants in Balestrate have such fantastic food. Everything is so fresh. The salads, olives, pizza and pasta and seafood are of the highest quality. I think perhaps the best in Italy. Thanks once again, for a fantastic holiday.

Great stay in a comfortable apartment

My wife and I stayed in Piero's flat in Balestrate in October 2009. It's a comfy place with plenty of room, and in an old typical Sicilian building. Not only did we have an economical place to stay, we were also spoiled by Piero's mother, who cooked us a delicious dinner and brought some wine and chocolates too. Very nice, and I recommend it.

Excellent House, Very Nice People

"Apartment is really marvelous, all is confortable, perfect and clean; you find here everything, what you need.Owners are very kind and they were very warm and friendly all the time. Mostly donna Marie Christine was very pleasant, worried; she is charmer indeed! House is close to the long sandy beach and to the train station too. This was the most beautifull week in Sicily and I hope we return in Balestrate sometimes..."

Tres bon emplacement

Accueil des propriétaires très agréable, avec toute la semaine, des plats siciliens préparés par la maman de Piero. L'appartement est à quelques mètres de grandes plages de sable fin, la baie est superbe, la station balnéaire un charme certain. Piero est totalement disponible pour nous, ce qui ajoute des idées pour les sorties et visites de la région. Un bémol pour le bruit des scooters/voitures à prendre sérieusement en compte les premières parties de nuits de juillet/début août.

I have a beatiful experience with my visit to Sicily, much more then I really expected. First of all, I want to say that we were totally satisfied with accommodation. It is very clean house with new furniture. The beach is very close so I can recommend this house to young couple with chlidren. The place is very calm and quiet and people are so friendly. I hope that soon I will visit this place again

Amazing House

Everything was just perfect and We have been received with very warm welcome. The house and were more than we expected. It is very nice and confortable flat. The sight from the house is beautiful and has a nice view on the sea. Very quiet neighbourhood and we had wonderful and quiet walking on the seafront large footpath. The Flat is well positioned in a very strategic place close to the motorway junction VERY SUITABLE to visit towns and beautiful places in Sicily. Just perfect for those who want to have a relaxing holiday and in the meantime visit full of culture places . We would like to recommend to everyone:family with children, couples, friends

Bellissima CAsa, Fantastico Paese...

L'appartamento è accogliente e comodo al centro del paese. Balestrate è vivace, vivo e ricco di servizi. Vicino all'aereporto di PAlermo e Trapani, nel golfo piu bello della Sicilia è Ottimo per esplorare la Sicilia La disponibilità e la cortesia dei propietari ci ha fatti sentire più che clienti ospiti graditi.
