Number One High Petergate is a beautifully presented three- bedroom home in the heart of York, offering an exceptional location just moments from the historic city walls and a minute’s walk from the magnificent York Minster.

As you enter through the front door, a staircase leads you upstairs into a bright and spacious kitchen. The kitchen is beautifully designed with modern touches and warm, inviting tones, while being fully equipped with everything you need for your stay. A breakfast bar with seating for two provides the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee or a quick breakfast before heading out to explore the city.

Leading from the kitchen is the welcoming dining room, featuring warm touches throughout and a large dining table with plenty of space for family and friends to sit together and enjoy meals.

Wonderful location

We were 5 adults staying here. All needs were met…enough bedrooms, laundry, 1 full bath and a powder room, sitting room, tv….etc. Beautifully decorated, comfortable and welcoming.

A lovely cosy room for our Christmas stay in the walled city.

Warm welcoming house which had been decorated beautifully for Christmas. Beds very comfy and so close to the Minster and some great pubs. Thoroughly enjoyable and memorable time.

A great City break location

This was the perfect location for a City break, it had everything we needed in the kitchen, it was very clean and comfortable. Two things would have made it better, an en-suite for the main bedroom and not all the bedroom windows opened well. I would stay again.

Perfect location

Wonderful spacious flat, very comfortable, with possibly the largest bathrooms I’ve seen in Europe. Incredibly well located, steps away from the Minster. We did not find the street noise an issue, contrary to some of the other reviews. Highly recommended, we’ll be back.

Great location!

Thanks for a great weekend stay in York. The flat was in a great location right next to the walls and very clean. I would definitely stay here again. Stays York called several times before check in to make sure the check in would go smoothly. We slept great and didn't hear any extra noise from outside. I loved that it was only steps from the Minster.

Wonderful experience

The property is beautiful, and the location couldn't be better. The house is spotless. The agent fixed a small issue in the house within a couple of hours. Top notch communications - would definitely stay here again.

A comfortable base wonderfully located to allow you to spend time in York

We stayed at Number One High Petergate as a family (two adults and two children (14 and 9)) over the February Half-Term. We know York well, and the location was fabulous; a few hundred meters from the Minister, and it was lovely to be able to stay in the heart of one of the world's greatest cities. The apartment was comfortable and spacious, with all necessary amenities. We agreed that we would definitely stay her again as and when we are visiting in the future. Highly recommended.

Thanks v much for having us. Few things... I didn't appreciate having to empty the dishwasher when I arrived. Not the best welcome. Also, the new occupants to the shop downstairs played loud music every evening for an hour or 2. Lovely flat still, but perhaps not back for a 3rd visit due to downstairs.

Listen to the reviews - Noise

Unfortunately we thought previous reviews might have been exaggerating on the amount of noise you can hear, in particular from the 2 bedrooms at the front of the property... How wrong we were! There is a lot of noise and I'm afraid mostly from people after a night out. You can hear every part of peoples conversations. We stayed for 5 nights and were woken up by noise every night/early morning and not just a few minutes, one night was over an hour we were kept up, at around 3am (and this was a week night, not the weekend). The property itself is extremely clean, great layout, and an excellent location but that versus a good nights sleep, I'm afraid makes it not value for money in our eyes. On the value we paid, if we had to pay that again, we would not stay here or recommend it. Should the windows be rectified (one you could see a gap at the bottom of the frame) to cancel out the noise, then yes, it would be worth the money. If there are other places available that you're currently reviewing, we would suggest go for another property. One other negative (and advice if you do book this property) is the TV, this needs updating.... The connection to the wifi didn't work. Would advise to take a laptop or other device if you like watching TV (Apps/Netflix).

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. As you say, the property is in the centre of York, only a stones throw from the Minster and we would expect that there would be some city noise, although it is not on a main thoroughfare. We take all feed back onboard and secondary glazing is now in the process of being fitted in both of the front bedrooms. The apartment is in a listed building and so it all has to be hand made, the first part of the instillation has been completed and the remainder should be finished imminently. Again thank you for raising this and I hope that now the issue has been resolved we will be welcoming you back to York in the not too distant future.

Couldn’t have been better,

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in York. Our accommodation was excellent, a home away from home, so comfortable and spacious, in a perfect location. Previous reviews had mentioned the noise factor however with the double glazing in place, noise was not a problem. Can’t recommend Number One High Petergate highly enough. And Stays York was delightful to deal with, they made the whole process easy and we felt very welcome.
