Good, but missing some basics

The house is in a fantastic location. Secluded, with beautiful views across the water to the mountains of Albania, it’s something else. It was just missing some basic stuff which took the edge off the stay; things that you shouldn’t even have to think about. There was no soap and only one toilet roll in each bathroom. There was a dishwasher but no tablets and no washing up liquid. No salt and pepper, no oil, no welcome pack of any sort. We had to go and buy all this stuff which was pretty annoying. The house is comfortable enough, but what was not clear to us until our arrival (and my apologies if I missed this in the description) is that it is actually two separate apartments. Not a massive problem, just a bit unexpected.

Together at last

Let's start by saying that nothing was going to distract us from the joy of being together after the miseries if 2020/21, so the odd minor problems with the house were ignored and accepted. The setting, position, facilities, use of space were perfect and we had the most brilliant time. The seperate lower apartment was excellent for couple with young baby as it was self contained and gated for safety from the pool. Children's pool was a great hit! There was a lot of laughter and a lot of fun to be had. Downsides...villa seemed a little tired with decidely 'iffy' door handles in particular. Lots of appliances such a dishwasher and coffee maker but no starter packs to use either. We had booked a cot but only found it up in a high cupboard after a few days before which, we had sorted something which worked better. You really needed the car...it's a nice walk down to Kalami but a haul up from the shops. Agni bay was a short downhill walk but again, a thrash up with a small child. BUT it was altogether a great week together and everyone had a brilliant and very silly time. I was delighted to hear the scops owls in the valley and although the wasps were horrendous, there were geckos on the walls at night and praying mantids in the garden. 5 star lovely!

Fabulous time had by all. The villa is lovely and the pool area is amazing with stunning views over to Albania. The pool loses the sun by about 3pm which was the only slight downside to an otherwise great stay.

Bougainvillea was wonderful accommodation for the whole family. Its location is perfect with beautiful views over the Ionian Sea and Albania in the distance. We walked to Kalami, Agni and the very quiet in between beach (name unknown) to swim, snorkel, eat, drink and play, the return walk being a challenge but making us feel justified for having enjoyed all the delicious food on offer. The air conditioning was appreciated as nights were warm. The pool was lovely and much appreciated after the hot walks up from the beaches. We will return.

Excellent holiday, the villa is perfect for getting away from it all, beautiful location, stunning views and a lovely villa. I would highly recommend this to anyone wishing to stay in Corfu who doesn’t want to be in a busy, tourist resort. If you don’t mind a bit of a steep walk, a visit to Kalami where there are excellent restaurants, especially The White House, is well worth it.
