Detached comfortable granite cottage, 5 minute walk to the beach - Dogs Welcome
Little Rock is located in the village of Longrock which is set between Penzance and Marazion. A quiet village which belies the fact that it nestles right on Mounts Bay and has all the joys of the beach without the hustle and bustle (and parking problems) of Marazion. Little Rock, in its past life was a lobster pot barn and has been renovated to a high standard - with quality and comfort being our aim. Sat in the garden you can hear the waves lapping when the tide is in - that is how close you are to the beach! The small courtyard (totally enclosed) has quality table and chairs and planters.
At the end of the drive are bus stops with excellent bus service for all local areas. St Ives buses are every half an hour and take 25 minutes. Porthleven is around 35 minutes by bus. The property is also situated next to the South West Coastal path, near a nature reserve.
Longrock is on Mounts Bay, and the beach is a popular beach for horse riding and wind surfing. St Michaels Mount is in walking distance either along the beach or via the road.
The property itself is very well equipped, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. It's is centrally heated and also has a log burner for the colder months. There is a separate laundry room with washer and tumble dryer.
The living space is comfortable and cozy, with a vaulted ceiling with lots of natural light.
The master bedroom is large, light and airy with ensuite bathroom.
There is a 2nd bedroom with bunk beds.
There is a single line train track next to the beach, access is 5 minutes walk via the level crossing
Little rock was a great base for us whilst visiting the area to see family, it has everything we needed. The only issues were parking access, this is extremely tight due to parking or other cottages and a redundant gate post.
Perfect for our stay. Fabulous location and well-furnished. Lovely welcome gifts of Cornish produce were very appreciated. We enjoyed contributing to the painted stones collection!
Enjoyed our 4 night stay, location was very good. Close to beach and local amenities.
On the downside parking is extremely tight and difficult to access in and out
Bed could be more comfy so soft, need bigger bath towels and bathroom very tight if you are a larger person due to door position we were ok but others might struggle
One word Perfect⊠cottage was perfect, beautiful and everything we wanted.
Hosts Jo & Andy thought of everything including extra bowls for the dogs
Location was great⊠could hear the sea from the garden⊠really lovely few days
Excellent property which is ideally placed as a base to visit SW Cornwall. The view of St Michaels Mount from the beach is beautiful and the walk to Marazion and or Penzance along the beach/path is well worthwhile.
The property is very comfortable and warm and tastefully decorated making our 5 night stay perfect.
Beautiful cottage close to Penzance and St Michaelâs Mount
The cottage was gorgeous with a lovely garden and absolutely everything we needed for our four night stay. It is the perfect spot to explore this area of Cornwall.
A really high spec cottage in an ideal spot for the buses (we didn't use our car at all once we'd arrived). Great pub next door, handy for the beach and a nice stroll to Penzance or Marazion.
Would recommend Little Rock to anyone with a small family who want to explore west Cornwall and have a great base. Just outside Penzance so not too busy but close to everything and good road links to everywhere. We were able to cook our own meals and do laundry which was really helpful being there for a whole week.
Overall we loved our stay at little rock . It was the perfect location for our trip .
The trains didnt bother me at all , but my partner wasnt so keen to begin with but by the second day we really didnt notice .
So much to do and see we wished we had stayed longer .
A relaxing few days is what we needed and what we got.
The cottage was a little bit smaller than anticipated but we were fortunate enough to spend most of our time on Long rock beach. The property is well appointed and has everything you need for a short break, for us the bed was a little cramped being used to a king size bed and parking not easy with a SUV. However, the lovely welcome basket is both thoughtful and generous and this sweet cottage was all we needed to relax.
On arrival at this property, we found it exactly as described and very clean and warm. There is everything you could possibly need in this cottage and a completely secure garden area for our dog. The only disappointment for us was the rain and wind all week, which has nothing to do with the property, but in hindsight maybe booking in March wasn't the best time to enjoy Cornwall.
However I would absolutely recommend Little Rock cottage for a holiday rental.
Cottage was lovely. Everything you needed.
Would be nice to have welcome basket of logs for wood burner.
Had to sleep in bunk bed as king bed far to soft for me. Hubby was okay though.
Parking was difficult but we somehow managed. Both elderly but all we needed was at the cottage. It was a base for us to go to different places.
We enjoyed our stay as we were lucky to get the hottest week in Cornwall :-)
So we were able to have all our meals outside in the "garden". (In winter as well as on rainy days, the house might be a bit dark inside?!)
Parking was easier than expected (even possible with a SUV). We were never distrubed by any noise caused by the nearby Mexican Inn!
We didnÂŽt miss anything in the house and were very happy with beds already made when we arrived. :-)
DonÂŽt forget to bring colours as everybody seems to leave a painted stone. :-)
Nice break. Clean and comfortable apart from a heating problem. We were there in January and the heating system malfunctioned. Fortunately there is a log burner in the main room, so we could get this warm, but not the bathroom and bedroom. Owner tried hard to sort it out but could not get a plumber at short notice.
Despite this we enjoyed our stay
This is a well equipped but quite small property, suitable for a couple with small children at the best, but ideal for us as a couple. Bed is very comfortable, as is the sofa and all furnishings are nice, although the hanging space in the wardrobe, is only for tall people đ oh and television could do with an upgrade. Overall we like the accommodation. The biggest flaw for us was the property is actually backing on to a pub garden, which had an outdoor screen with the football on it most evenings, we were there during the Euros, and also live music; as we are not football fans, or fans of heavy metal, it was a bit of a problem at times. Parking was also a bit of an issue, as you have to reverse into a narrow lane, that is off a busy road, this involves stopping the traffic at times, as itâs tricky reversing round the bins at the entrance to the lane, once navigated past the neighbours car, the parking space itself is ample. I now understand why previous reviews say they use public transport and leave the car at home!!
I like the overall geographic position of this cottage, but Iâm not sure I would stay here again, because of the parking and public house issues.
A beautiful little cottage set back from the main road in Long Rock, behind the local post office. It was clean and well equipped with many things I wasnât expecting such as dish soap, dishwasher and washing machine tablets as well as bin bags, salt etc, all of which Iâd taken with me. There were also lots of dog bowls which again I wasnât expecting so had taken with me. There was a welcome pack of Cornish goodies and milk in the fridge. The cottage is well laid out with living, kitchen and dining room in one. Two bedrooms along the corridor ending with a bathroom. As itâs all on one level it was ideal for me and my husband as weâre both disabled. Our two dogs loved it too although there was a lot of barking when the frequent trains passed but they eventually got used to it. The washing machine is situated at the end of the property in a shed extension. The garden is small and completely fenced in on all sides with mature plants and a spectacular specimen of a fatsia japonica just by the door. Ideal to keep dogs from getting out. Thereâs parking space for one car but Iâd advise reversing in because itâs really tight parking to avoid hitting the nearby residents cars. Also beware of the oven thermostat switch as it is loose and falls off. The first time it happened I put it back the wrong way up and ended up trying to cook something for about 70 minutes in vain. All in all the property is warm but we did have to use the wood burner on one particular day when it was rainy heavily and quite cold. Itâs situation is ideally positioned for exploring the South of Cornwall and itâs surrounding villages. We didnât realise until the Friday evening that one end of the garden backs onto the garden of the local pub when we heard lots of people talking. It wasnât a problem though. One of the cutest things in the garden is the painted pebbles left by previous visitors and the owners leave a basket of pebbles and some acrylic pens to actively encourage people to leave them. All in all a lovely visit. Weâd definitely recommend it.
Thanks for a lovely stay Andy and Jo.
