Disappointed

Hands down, the best part of this rental is the view. It has both advantages of being secluded from most things and close to the town and its stores. This cabin is in dire need of some updating, replacing, and cleaning. The kitchen was left dirty and the stove was badly neglected. The refrigerator has seen better days. The large table was great for seating while eating, however, having benches instead of chairs really limited our seating choices for watching television or enjoying the fire. The living area furniture needs replacing. The sofa and the love seat sink in the middle and people sitting on the ends will roll towards the middle. There are no comfortable recliner type chairs in the living area. The mattresses need to be replaced as they were very lumpy and uncomfortable. My suggestion would be to go ahead and spend more money on a rental that has some current updates and newer furniture. It was very difficult for our family of nine to be comfortable while we were together in this cabin.

As you can imagine, we hate it when people are not enamored with the Dancing Aspen Cabin. We have such a great time with family and friends there and are disappointed you didn't. I spoke to your adult daughter, she specified there were bowls left out on the counter and the griddle was not clean. She did say there were several other things you did enjoy including a kitchen equipped with everything you needed for your Thanksgiving supper. We apologize about the cleaning. Our housekeeper had just arrived from Germany and in her rush she didn't check the work of her helpers. She assured me it will not happen again. I sent you a $50 check for the inconvenience. I hope it was some consolation. Mea culpa on the refrigerator. The drawers were broken last summer. When I became aware of it I ordered a new frame and two new drawers. I told our maintenance crew to replace them when the parts came in. I didn't follow up. Your mention of it was the first I realized the parts didn't arrive. A local non-profit said they will take this perfectly working refrigerator. They appreciate the ice machine and large capacity. I've ordered a new one for the cabin. It will arrive January 12. The dining room/kitchen area is the center of activity for the cabin. It was years before I gave in to some pressure to put in our 3D TV. The games played, food enjoyed and conversations shared are the heart of mountain entertainment (that and the hot tub on the deck, of course). The TV will never be the focus. All the pillows on the Parson's Chair are supplement the couches and are great for kids enjoying the fire. Some love the overstuffed leather couches. I mentioned I was thinking about getting rid of them and received resistance from those who use it most. I love sitting there with my grandchildren. They're great for snuggling. I wouldn't have them in my home, except perhaps in the den. My family is at the cabin for Christmas. I've asked them to tell me about the mattresses they are sleeping on. I hadn't noticed it before, even though I sleep in the master bedroom every time I'm at the cabin, but the mattress could be more comfortable. I am having it replaced. Everyone else says their's is fine. Perhaps, when I'm at the cabin, by myself, I can sleep in them all. I'm a pickier sleeper than most. Again, sorry you were disappointed. It is certainly not the typical reaction we receive.

This place is amazing!

Steve was a great host. He was easy to communicate with and very kind! We got married here with our immediate families and had plenty of space for everyone and everything! If you are looking for a perfect getaway, this is it! It’s secluded, but still just 10-15 minutes from town and downtown Winter Park. I highly recommend this beautiful home!

Family Summer Get-together

I am certain everyone from 3-70 years of age enjoyed our short but happy time together at the DancingAspen cabin. The mt. air was a nice escape from the heat of summer. The cabin was beautiful with just the right amount of beds for our group. All were very comfortable and the young adults enjoyed the night air and good conversations in the hot tub after dark when the little ones were fast asleep in the reading bunks. The views from the deck of the horses grazing beneath the mountains far in the distance gave grace to all who were fortunate to sit a spell and enjoy this moment in time.

Endorphin summer getaway

Came for romantic getaway for 2. The location did not disappoint. Steve, who lives below the lodge, welcomed us. We had complete privacy the whole rest of the time. The lodge is very well maintained. The hot tub was key to our stay and did not disappoint. Beautiful view. Excellent location. Would highly recommend.

Awesome Home away from Home

Our spring break vacation was made very comfortable in this home. We had everything we needed and wanted available to us. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed as well as the basics in the pantry and spice drawer to cook with Our two boys were very pleased with the personal "cubbies" and sleeping quarters. They enjoyed the use of the sleds and playing on the property. Baryn, the caretaker was extremely helpful, personal and overall a very pleasant man. The boys enjoyed their personal magic show from him :D. We loved Hernando's in Fraser when we ate out. Definitely would stay here again and look forward to future stays.

Charming house in the mountains. Perfect for our large family, exactly what we were looking for!

Endorphon Resorts is a charmingly rustic home in the mountains. It was the perfect house for our large family to spend the holiday week. The house has every amenity we were looking for and fit us perfectly. Steve (the owner) was a wonderful help in helping me plan our trip. He was extremely patient and knowledgeable, he had great suggestions and was always available to assist and guide me. Way beyond what would be expected from an owner. I would definitely rent this house again if we go back to that area. I wish we could do it every year, and so did the kids!

Peace the woods...with short trip to adventure!

My family has been coming here for years and absolutely loves it!! The cabin is perfect for families or groups of friends. The description is accurate. The bunks upstairs are great for the kiddos and the three rooms offer privacy for couples. As a Chef I love working in this kitchen, Viking stove, large sink and plenty of tools to be creative. The kitchen is loaded with lots of tools. The large dinning room table is great for family gatherings and lots of meals. I always recommend this property, in fact I Iove it so much I haven’t spent much time exploring other mountains in Colorado.

Owner is passive aggressive and rude, house was dirty, lots of things broken, not what is advertised

Positives: AMAZING views/Huge dining room table. Negatives: Hot tub not set up and ready to go when we first arrived – assume would be done by the caretaker/The hot tub was dirty – Chemicals had clearly not been added to the water, we were sitting in dirt in the seats/Bottom drawer of dishwasher broken./Master bedroom tub would not drain/drain was broken; trash on the floors, empty water bottles and large hairballs throughout./Mud room bathroom shower was not cleaned./There was only about 2/3 of a roll of paper towels on the holder when we arrived, none in unit to replace. Had to borrow a roll from caretaker then purchase our own in town when that ran out./The ice maker not working./Stove vent not functioning, had to open the doors and several windows every time we used the stove./Upstairs bedroom at the top of the stairs had trash on the floor. In the bathroom in this room, the sink pedestal was very dirty./Holes in wall in mud room bathroom/Mouse droppings in lazy susan cabinets. No mention in listing there is a caretaker who not only lives on-site, but in basement. Emailed owners w/ concern over loudness of our group and space of house. House is NOT 3000 square feet without including basement (which you can't access). 3 separate emails from owner in response to my questions were rude, accusatory, threatening and passive-aggressive. Quoted: 1)"I will get him a hotel room for the 3 days you are here and tell him he can take the time off, if you like, but our location is beautiful because it is isolated and you'll have dig yourself out and handle difficulties that arise -- of course, you can call me in California…but my hands will be tied for some things." 2)"As an aside, did someone from your group sit on the back of the couch?..there was a significant tear in it. ..also said there was a big scratch on the refrigerator (it is new). I wouldn't mention them but thought you should probably know too, as some of your friends may have been careless. I didn't bother to take any of that out of the deposit because I'm not eager to deal with negatives." Couches are impossible to sit on back of, one backs up to a wall, the other has console running the entire height and length. He never mentioned these until after I mentioned all of the issues we had. No fridge scratch when we left. Expecting a crappy response from owner based on other critical reviews he received and his passive-aggressive responses to them. RUDE LYING OWNER, do not stay here.

“Thou dost protest too much, me thinks.” It has become fashionable to call someone a liar to validate our perspective, but reasonable people understand the value of weighing evidence. Since I wasn’t there for your experience let me write about what I do know. 1)We spend tens of thousands of dollars on maintenance. We have a full-time caretaker responsive to guest needs. The best cleaning service in the valley charges $200 after every guest to clean and do laundry. 2)The night of your arrival we communicated, you were happy and said so. I did not hear from you again until you received your deposit back, then a flurry of complaints. 3)The caretaker and cleaners said the cabin was damaged. I have ordered a new couch which they said was torn by your group and saw the scratched refrigerator. They say your group drank much and damaged the property. You say you drank a lot but didn’t damage anything. I didn’t charge you in the hopes of avoiding unpleasantness but, alas… 5)The next guests were delighted and said all was well. After them, the guests, on their 3rd stay, said the same and added they wanted a summer stay. My family was next, we saw the damage but the rest of the cabin was in great shape. The drain, on an expensive Jacuzzi tub with Kohler parts, is quirky, not broken, as is the bottom drawer on the dishwasher when loaded with the heavy plates. 6)The hot tub is emptied after guests depart. There are minerals in the water as it comes from a well underneath tub, this is not dirt. I wouldn’t get in a dirty hot tub nor would I expect you to but, if you want privacy, add the chlorine on the deck yourself. if not our caretaker is glad to handle the chlorine. 7)In the instructions for the six-burner Viking Stove the convection application is mentioned. One has to let the oven ignite and warm before turning on the fans. When used correctly not only will there be no smell one will be amazed at the efficiency of this professional oven. I will make the instructions clearer.

Wonder filled mountain cabin!

Our entire family gathered for Christmas at The Dancing Aspen Cabin. We skied, sledded, snow-shoed and built snow forts. The kitchen provided everything we needed for meals -- a new Breville Mixer, stainless steel pots, pans, two ovens, six burners and a grill. The fireplace provided a wonderful family gathering spot and we enjoyed our conversations out on the deck in the hot tub -- the nights with moon shadows in the woods were spectacular. At night we could see the snow-capped Continental Divide across the valley ranches and horse pastures. The spectacular sun rises and sunsets added an alpenglow beauty to begin and cap every day. Winter Park and Mary Jane provided excellent skiing and snowboarding which made for great family fun. First class. We'd highly recommend it for everyone and plan on coming back this Spring for more fun.

This was a great rental!

My family of three and my sister's family of four stayed in this cabin for several days. It was very roomy, peaceful and in a good location. There was a lot of nature around the property and we enjoyed the beautiful views from the deck. The hot tub was very nice and relaxing as well. This was a great place! The Perfect Secluded Cabin for a Group

We had an incredible experience staying at this cabin with our group of 10! It is nestled in a beautiful valley, perched on a hillside, which gives the cabin wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. It feels very secluded, even though you're only 10-15 minutes from town. The sleeping arrangements are very comfortable for 10 people, and the kitchen and living room areas are spacious for the whole group to hang out in. The kitchen was fully supplied with great cooking equipment, there is a huge communal table to eat at and play games on, and the TV area has a cozy fireplace and comfy leather couches. All of the tile floors are heated too! It was very clean and well-maintained. Our favorite part of the cabin was the big hot tub that is conveniently set on the corner of the huge deck. It was amazing for relaxing in after a day of outdoor activities, and on a clear night you can sit in the hot tub and gaze at the stars. The owners of the property were very responsive throughout our planning prior to the weekend, and the caretakers that lived below were always quick to reply to our questions or requests. They live right there on the bottom floor so it is very convenient for them to help with anything, while at the same time it felt like we had the whole property to ourselves. They gave us complete privacy for the whole stay, and they had a separate entrance and driveway. We HIGHLY recommend this vacation home for a group looking for beautiful views, affordable rates, a spacious cabin, and responsive hosts! The nearby town of Fraser has a Safeway and some bars and restaurants to visit. Also, it is very close to snowshoeing and cross-country ski trails, as well as Winter Park Resort and the Fraser sledding hill!!

Perfect view & cozy feel!

This cabin is like the perfect hidden gem with breathtaking views from every room and the coziest feel! I stayed with a group of friends for a week and it wasn't nearly long enough! It's far enough away from the nearest town to get that exclusive cabin in the woods feel but only a short drive into town to head in as often as you wanted... The guy who was managing the place was very kind and knowledgeable and respected our space and privacy. I would highly recommend this resort for any type of vacay!

I've been to Winter Park to ski, but the place has a special magic in the summer. Dancing Aspen has its own cultivated stretch of native wildflowers bordering the driveway, and the view from the deck on the other side stretches for miles of green hills and rambling clouds. The place is comfortable, quiet, and a great place to share with friends. I completed a writing project I had planned and hope to visit again soon.

The aspens really do dance!

Our stay was amazing! The owners were very accommodating and helpful. The view from the deck is a perfect combination of mountains in the distance, horses grazing in nearby fields, and beautiful aspen trees surrounding the cabin. The leaves are absolutely mesmerizing when the wind blows during the day, the sun set really is like something you would see in a sappy movie, and the stars are breath taking at night! The sky was so clear that we saw satellites streak across the sky from the deck jacuzzi. As if that weren't enough, the state park is near by for hiking and if you need anything you can make a quick run into town. I really recommend this cabin and I hope I can come back soon! Enjoy your stay!

The IDEAL location for mountain stay

We are long time lovers of Colorado and the spectacular Rockies. This destination IS the perfect get-away location near Denver for just about any activity that a person or group of people might desire: trout fishing, horseback riding, skiing, mountain hiking or biking, the charm of Fraser's hospitality, and so much more. We especially enjoyed the ambiance of the spacious back deck's view (and remember that hot tub!). The cabin, itself, can comfortably accommodate a large group of people, with private nooks for quiet time and large areas for cooking, dining or visiting. Our most recent two visits were for a summer writer's workshop. Consequently, we had an opportunity to visit with the owner and his son, both of whom are exceptional human beings This enhanced our visit and overall experience. This is a very welcoming and nurturing space, and we confidently recommend this location!

The Perfect Place near Winter Park

My wife and family and friends have stayed here multiple times, and we'll be coming back. Close to world class skiing in the winter, and great for mountain biking and fishing in the summer. Spacious, clean, pristine and beautiful! Highly recommended for folks who want to have a terrific place to gather in the heart of the Rockies, secluded yet near to the best offerings Winter Park and Fraser have to offer. The skiing nearby is AAA+ and the mountain biking and fishing are the same. This is a homey, comfortable and easy place to hang out.

Huge Disappointment

When we pulled up to the Dancing Aspen Cabin we were thrilled with the view. It quickly went down hill from there. Unbeknownst to us there was a man living in the basement (the owner's son Stevie) we told him right away that we were not comfortable with this situation. We were traveling with our teenage daughter and planned on some of her friends visiting during the day. We didn't want to leave them alone with a man in the house or around the house while we hiked and biked and additionally I had specifically chosen this location because another reviewer had said it was quite. I am in graduate school and needed to study. Stevie called his dad who owns the property and my husband explained the situation to him. Steve told us that he would send Stevie to a hotel at night but he would be there during the day working. There was evidence of this with his tools set up around the house. Again we told him we were not comfortable with this situation. This is the first we had heard of the house being occupied and a man working around the house (this is a secluded area) and we had booked and paid for the house three months ago. Had we known this we could have saved us both a lot of trouble because we wouldn't have paid to stay there. We were quite shaken, this was around six in the evening and we had been traveling all day. Luckily we were able to get the last two rooms at a hotel that evening, they were so very kind when they heard about our situation. We were able to regroup and find another home for rent that didn't have anyone living in it or working on it. The owner Steve refused to give us any of our money back stating that he could not recoup his losses for the weekend?? I should have paid more attention to the Disappointed review. Dealing with Steve was a reminder to me that all people are not honest or trustworthy. I would not recommend that people stay at the Dancing Aspen Cabin.

Dear Regan, Please accept, again, my sincere apology. We try very hard, and are usually quite successful, to exceed our guest's expectations. Your request caught me off guard (more on this below) but in just the few minutes of speaking, to your apologetic husband, I had both of your concerns solved. 1) My son was happy to take a long weekend, on me, in Denver. 2) All he had to do was get his tools put away and take-off (I did request, because it was evening, that he come back the next day and finish up but that wasn't necessary and I told you so). Your husband told me, "I'm sorry. It is not your son. We had a bad experience last year when someone was arrested on a property where we were staying in Boulder." The only thing I couldn't fix was your previous experience. You caught me off guard because 1) My son is a fine fellow, studying botany in college. In that, he's like his brother who worked for us a couple of years then went back to school and is an Emergency Room physician in Placerville, CA (one of the reasons we built the lodge, over 20 years ago, was to give our children an opportunity to work in a beautiful area of the country). 2) He makes friends quickly, has a beautiful girlfriend and for the summer is living in an apartment totally separate, including the driveway, from the cabin. 3) Because our winters are long we do maintenance on the cabin in the summer. The porch he is building, on a shed near the woods, cannot be seen from the cabin and nothing was being done "around the house." 4) Our cabin is isolated but our neighbors, across the road, down the road, at the horse ranch below us and the Christian School across the valley, you passed as you drove in, all work for us on occasion. We only make it so it feels isolated. Our guests are in good hands without knowing it until something is needed. We also have caretakers during the winter and a cleaning crew. I mentioned, in my directions to the cabin, you would be greeted by a caretaker. If you would have told me then you didn't want a caretaker I could have had my son gone and my neighbor across the road (you cannot see the home but it is there), Tammy, greet you and see if you had needs. As the proprietor, I removed the obstacles for you to have a relaxing weekend. On that big concert weekend I could have rented the place out three more times but not at the last minute. You chose not to stay. Your husband felt bad you were beyond reason. So did I.
