Tranquil Rural Gite in the Perigord Noir (with Private Pool)
Set in tranquil gardens and fields, Le Petit Chambon @ Les Chambons is a spacious 100sqm, single storey, stone gite, set within a large courtyard. It is bordered by open barns and a summer kitchen.
The private swimming pool has great views of the surrounding countryside and is for your sole use. We hope that your experience here, will feel like a "home away from home".
When renovated the gite was designed with disabled guests in mind and all rooms are wheelchair friendly (including the bathroom facilities).
The bedroom is light and airy and has a double bed (200x160)
There is also a laundry room with washing machine. Bed-linen and towels are all provided and changed weekly including pool towels (we don't want you to have to add extra luggage just to pack towels!).
Paul, the owner of this property is a lovely guy and was a very friendly host. However on arrival, on close inspection you could not describe the accommodation anything other than dirty. During our journey to the property we were looking forward to just kicking off our shoes, opening a couple of beers and jumping into the swimming pool, however we ended up having to scrub and clean for 6 hours just to make the place habitable. Unfortunately, probably our own fault not doing sufficient research, we found the property just a little too remote. However on the plus side that made it lovely and quiet for relaxing by the pool.
Having purchased our Maison de Maitre in summer 2006, my wife and I moved permanently to Gabillou the following year. Since then as a keen musician (among other things), I established myself in the local music and art scene. We developed our gite over the first year and opened for business in 2011. I am always keen to meet new people and be able to introduce them to local life in the Dorodgne. As people often say - we are "living the dream!"
If you want a restful stay, quietly taking in the sun or our relaxing swimming pool and grounds (with little or no traffic), in the midst of the Perigord Noir countryside, then look no further. If you would like to sample the famous pre-historic grottos or beautiful Medieval towns or even to laze on the river Vezere or Dordogne, then these are all reachable within reasonable driving distances away (our county town: Perigueux is only 25 mins away)
