Property location is a 10! This house is directly across from John Smith's Bay, one of the best beaches in Bermuda. Beach chairs and umbrellas are provided in addition to all necessary kitchen/bath amenities. Bus stops are conveniently located close by. Well stocked grocery store is a quick bus ride away. Property could use some updating, but did not deter our wonderful vacation.
The location was perfect but disappointed that there is no public transportation after 6pm. The property was outdated and upon arrival smelled a bit stuffy. I would recommend property manager opening house when expecting guest to check in. The property also needs a deep clean as windows and blinds were dirty.Lastly, the tub was clogged and had a very slow drain which is very inconvenient when having to deal with children.
I am local and I booked this cottage for family visiting for the first time. The location is across the street from my childhood beach. This made for some very happy visitors! The large window in the living room is gorgeous and was perfect for unwinding next to or watching thunderstorms. The kitchen was clean and stocked with everything you would need. The property is along a main bus route and just a few minutes away from some of my favourite restaurants, a wonderful nature preserve, and a grocery store. My only small negative would be that the dated decor could use a refresh but itâs exactly as pictured.
The host was always exceptionally responsive to addressing issues with the house. The property location was perfect with a wonderful public beach across the street with bathroom facilities and a great beach grill/bar.
Great location, bus and ferry line simple to use , clean and quiet. the beach is literally across the street and amazing. Nicest people on any island I have visited, very safe and amazing water
This place is amazing!!
Just across the street to Johnâs Smith beach
Iâve been here just x4 days and everything was perfect!
Elizabeth is an incredible host very responsive and she cares a lot about all your needs
Great suggestions and the house has everything you need for your vacation
Thank you Elizabeth we definitely be back!!
We enjoyed our time at this property! As others have noted, a little outdated. I was actually surprised at how much space we had - was not as evident in the photos. We were there with our three kids (ages 3-9) and felt safe in the area. The location was fantastic and the kids loved having the beach so close. They were also particularly fond of the chickens that would sometimes venture over from next door. Elizabeth was super responsive and the offer to arrange for transport to/from the airport was a very nice bonus.
The property is well located and we found everything we needed. Our host was available immedeatly whenever we had a question and very kind. We really recommend the Beach House!
This visit was quiet and just what we wanted for a relaxing holiday. Our little house was right across from a locals' favorite beach, John Smith's Bay. We could hear the ocean from inside the house! The bus stops were right across the street, or about 2 blocks away in Devil's Hole. We liked riding the bus and chatting with our neighbors at the bus stop. We would love to come back and experience Bermuda a little closer to high season. This house is a great location if you don't want to be in the hustle bustle of the city. Our hostess was wonderful. She had bus tickets waiting on us when we arrived and checked in on us periodically through a messaging app. She sent a short list of attractions and the bus routes to get there. We also were in touch with the property manager, who delivered us blankets (it got pretty chilly at night) the second day. We felt well taken care of and welcomed.
Cute cottage across the street from beautiful John Smith Beach. Bus stop out front. Fun Bermudian Food stand with drinks and music above the beach, locals gathering place. Host very helpful and responsive.
Nothing fancy and could use updating but we enjoyed our stay!
As described. a charming beach house across from John Smith's Bay beach, fully equipped 2BR, kitchen, dining, and living room. The host was the best we've ever had, making sure that our stay throughout was perfection!
The pictures suggest that there is a direct view to the beach - there is not - and there is no spa/hot tub as listed. Also, being on the rustic side there is only one outlet in each room and not in the bathroom so bring a power strip for all your devices; also no outside electric to charge if you rent an EV car. Overall, a great well-equipped rental with an almost private beach right there - 5 stars.
Wow, what can we say about this property? And about Elizabeth as a host from the moment we booked to even a day or 2 after we arrived home the entire experience was fantastic. The property is clean and exactly as described, she had big white fluffy bath towels, Several beach towels, beach toys, water and coffee in the fridge. And the TV even had Netflix, prime YouTube, and the like. Which was great for the kids? Prior to arrival, she gave us a ton of information regarding getting around a taxi reference bus route grocery store information. And the location is a directly across from a gorgeous beach and delicious cafe. We will definitely be booking again. Thank you so much again to Elizabeth for offering us a wonderful time.
Beautiful vacation in large part because of this house.
Plus:
+ The location is perfect. You are across the street from a beautiful beach. Not too many people go there so you'll find yourself enjoying the warm water and the waves without the crowds of other southern beaches on the island.
+ Bus stop for Route 1 and 3 are close and will easily get you to Hamilton, Grotto Bay or St Georges, and back.
+ House is fully equipped with all you may need during your stay.
+ The beds are comfy. (Seems trivial, but since you spend all day outside and will probably come back only to sleep... Too many VRBOs have "ok" beds at best. This one is really good!)
+ Quiet neighborhood
+ Hotel nearby (5 minutes walk) has a charging station for current vehicules that you can rent to get around by yourself.
Minus:
- Route 1 buses stop early. If you only want to take the bus, you'll have to come back from Hamilton early. If not, taxi is the right option for late evening in the city.
- The air conditioning is provided by 3 window air conditioners that are noisy. If you are used to sleeping with white noise, this should be no problem. If you were hoping to listen to the sounds of nature, you won't be able to. (I like to sleep in a room that is chill, mind you. So I had the AC turned on all night. If you don't mind sleeping when it's a bit warmer, the AC won't be working as much as it was for me, so noise will, of course, be lessened)
All in all, this is a very nice house for a short getaway.
The hostess arranged to have a taxi driver pick us up to and from the airport, which worked well. The house is literally across the street from John Smith Bay beach (really nice!) and a bus stop. The taxi driver pointed out to us a grill (a short walk away) which was tasty and obviously used mostly by the locals. There is a beach grill by the beach, but it was not open because we were there off-season. The grocery store is about three stops toward Hamilton by bus. There was a bus schedule included with a stack of pamphlets of things to see, but it would have been helpful for a rough schedule to be provided at the house estimating when to catch the bus in front of the house. The bus drivers are pretty helpful with letting you know what stop you need. They do require exact change, though. You can get passes at the post office if you will be using the bus frequently, which saves a little money.
When we asked for the use of a second key, the hostess was quick to respond and got one to us that evening.
There was very little pantry items and supplies in the house. I am used to having a few more staple items at an airbnb. However, I'm sure it's hard to keep things in a humid climate and not attract bugs. (We never saw bugs in the house).
I gave the cleanliness a 4 out of 5 because the tile floor was slippery for some reason when we got there. We ran a mop over the floor and it was fine.
The next door neighbor has roosters, but they can mostly be drowned out by turning on the fan or air conditioner.
Because of the roosters I rated the location 4 out of 5 stars.
All in all, this was a comfortable and clean house and I feel the price was very reasonable. And you can't beat crossing the street to the beach.
We would have taken the bus to site-see anyway, so that wasn't a big deal.
The beach house was in a fabulous location. Directly acoss the street from the beach and bus stop. The house was well equipped and very clean. Unfortunately we did not have very nice weather and were a little chilly. I would definitely stay there again
A fantastically located beach house for John Smith Bay- our favourite beach on Bermuda.
Excellent stable WiFi at the property, and nice TV.
Comfy beds and lots of fans and A/C units although we didnât need them as we visited in late October.
Slightly alarming that the 2nd bedroom was missing a section of glass out of one window.
This certainly couldâve been an issue if we visited in colder weather. And, in general I would suggest this as a good weather only property!
Kitchen is a bit dated, but just about had what we needed.
Comfy beds.
Host was really quick and helpful with any questions.
The snack bar at John Smith Bay is great, and was our favourite place to enjoy a beer and burger after a day enjoying Bermuda.
Buses are pretty good (although donât stick to the timetable often) until 6pm at which point you need a taxi.
Plenty of space to spread out for family of five (tall teens!) Yes, could use some updating, but you canât beat that beautiful beach across street and bus stops too! Plenty of beach gear here, teens loved the inflatables! đ We would definitely stay here again with the kidsđ Host was very responsive too
Right across the beach. Good bus access. Close to two grocery places. Good place to stay if you want to explore the Flatts, st George, caves, bamz, etc.
Elizabeth was in touch throughout. Clarifying questions and offering suggestions. We landed late in the evening and everything was almost closed but Elizabeth made sure we had basic milk and water through her assistant. Wonderful person.
The most perfect host, could not do enough for us, responded to every request, not that we had many and went out of her way to organise our taxi's to and from the airport. We needed a place to crash and eat with our hectic schedule on and around the islands and I am so glad we picked this one. Close to both the No1 and No3 buses which was more than enough to get everywhere with very little trouble. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen and bathroom adequate for our needs. It is not a brand new build but also not in need of improvements, a lovely "home away from home". My first Vrbo experience, let's hope they are all like this.
Good stay. As ex-Bermuda residents the furnishings are typical for Bermuda. A responsive property manager, who addressed our minor issues promptly. Would stay there again.
