The littlest one thought the water around the dock was heaven. The older kids enjoyed tubing in the middle of the lake. A great place to enjoy the water.
The cottage on the lake was better than expected. We loved the decks and beach area. The host was available for all questions we had. I would highly recommend this lovely place.
Beautiful lakefront home with lots of charm. We felt right at home and the house really had everything we needed. The sunsets were beautiful! Comfy clean beds with plenty of room for everyone!
We stayed at the property in order to attend a wedding so we were coming and going during our stay, We were able to watch a gorgeous sunset on Friday night on the deck overlooking her lake. Two of the 7 people who stayed at the house even went swimming!
The house was well stocked with toilet paper, paper towels, regular towels, and really anything you might need. Communication with the owner was prompt. I would highly recommend staying at this home! Kudos and thank you to the owners!
We loved this property with two small kids. The view of the lake and sunset from the house was beautiful. The lawn was perfect for our 3 and 5 year old kids to play. Everything as expected. Very nice neighbors. Only 10 mins to Auburn and 15 mins to Skaneateles. Ice cream shop and mini golf down the road. Lovely stay!
Met some friends here for the weekend, such a nice location. We enjoyed the decks and the kayak, great kitchen for a group.
House is older, cozy, and well stocked. Very quiet neighborhood. Would stay again, for sure.
We stayed at this property with two families including three children under 8. Owasco lake is beautiful and it is a short drive to Skaneateles lake too. Property has a very well kept yard and a small beach that is great for kids. We enjoyed using the two kayaks. The home has everything needed for cooking and grilling. Very much enjoyed our stay.
The place was perfect place to get away for my momâs 60th birthday! Snuggly fit 10 adults (ideally would fit 8 comfortably) with our blow up bed we brought. Exactly as pictured! Right on the water with a great deck down by the water but quite a steep set of steps to get there if there are any mobility issues. Close to skaneatles and auburn if wanting to explore the towns! Christine was great, responsive and flexible with us checking in a little early!
The house was in a great location with lots of room for my family. It was nice to have the kayaks to use, and we used them a lot. We had a wonderful week making memories. Lots of fun, sun, swimming, kayaking and food. Thank you for being so quick to respond when I called about the dock needing some adjustment. A wonderful time was had by all!
I rented this property close to Emerson Park where there was a wedding. I went with a group of friend from out of state. The home was warm and homey with the most relaxing view of the lake. We watched the sunsets from the deck above the water. Chrisitne was responsive and helpful. We had never been to the area and it was a great spot for our long weekend. You will not be disappointed in your stay here.
nice place but drafty in winter-had to keep playing with the heat-has 2 full baths but didn't realize only 1 shower b/c the other bathrm just has a jacuzzi which is fine but not when 3 ppl trying to shower & get ready at the same time-overall good experience though
This lakefront home was perfect for our family reunion week. We had 5 adults and two young children staying at the house and we were very comfortable. For being an older home it was very clean and open which worked well when we had company over to visit. The kitchen was stocked with all our cooking needs. The yard is a very nice size and the sunsets were absolutely beautiful. The lower deck by the lake was a perfect spot to sit and relax. The owners were very attentive and responsive when we were making our plans.
My husband and I are originally from Auburn, however, we haven't lived in NY for over 40 years; we live in South Florida. We have visited occasionally for a couple days and enjoyed everything the area offers. This time, we decided on an extended stay so we could have our Canadian snowbird friends experience the Finger Lakes. Christine's cottage was perfect for 3 adult couples. Honestly, having only one shower was not a problem. Taking turns was seamless. The kitchen and dining area were perfect for our quick small snacks and leisurely dinners- there was everything and anything you needed. The beds were comfortable, the rooms clean, sheets and towels plentiful. We would absolutely return...we left very rested and relaxed after spending days exploring wineries, waterfalls, lakes, and historical sites. Christine messaged frequently to see if we needed anything, but we had no requests! Check in and check out instructions were clear and easy. If we had anything at all to suggest, it would be that the cottage interior could use a paint touch up. However, that would not change anything about the comfort or cleanliness. Thank you Christine! 5 stars all the way...we may see you again one day!
Needs attention to detail; a thorough cleaning; and updating
To start with the positive, the location is nice, there is a great view, and the owner was responsive to a leaking toilet. But, overall we were very disappointed with the home. Though it was âsurface cleanâ, the house needs a thorough, deep clean, including washing all blankets and comforters which smelled musty. I know it is an older home, but there is a hodgepodge of electrical cords and the electric flickered anytime more than a couple lights and an appliance weâre in use simultaneously. There are THREE thermostats, an electric heater (which did not look safe to try), and a non working fireplace. Only one thermostat actually controls the heat and all the heat goes upstairs leaving the downstairs too cold. There were holes in the walls and the whole inside needs a fresh coat of paint. The kitchen! I somehow managed to cook thanksgiving dinner, but it was a challenge made possible by buying a few disposable baking pans. It would be nice, and in-line with my other VRBO experiences, to have a good set of pots/pans, mixing bowls, and cooking utensils. Additionally, The kitchen is poorly organized and one drawer barely opens. The knives were not sharp and there are no scissors. The bedrooms need better blinds and curtains. The front bedroom has only sheer curtains which afford little privacy. The owner should take a couple weeksâ rent and invest it in some changes that would really improve the house and encourage return renters. I donât feel I got my moneyâs worth and would not return.
First, Iâd like to say that Christine, the property manager, was excellent â responsive and helpful.
The property was as listed but several things could have been improved upon and were less that top notch. The towels and linens were old and thin. The lower deck was very nice but the railings on the stairs and lower deck were rickety. There was a laminated warning sign on the upstairs tub about how to gently use the handle as it was very easy to break. There were no games, books or entertainment things for the guest to use. The bushes and trees at the end of the yard were overgrown and greatly restricted what would have been a lovely view of the lake.
Some other things to be aware of - there is a dock but the water is very shallow (1.5 ft. when we were there) and not deep enough to park a pontoon boat without great difficulty and risk of damaging the propellor. The spa tub is difficult to get in and out of and there is no curtain if you were using the hand sprayer as a shower. The bed in the one bedroom is a double (not a queen) which is something we missed in the listing. And overall, the mattresses had seen better days.
All that said we had a very enjoyable time. Owasco Lake is lovely and not very busy. The home was comfortable and with most everything in working order. We were only 5 minutes from a great ice cream place (Tom Thumbs) and the towns of Auburn and Skaneateles were close with shops, restaurants and small museums to visit. The only other comment about the location is that the home is not close to many of the wineries in the Finger Lakes. Anyelaâs Vineyards which was very good is 15-20 minutes away but it is a 45-minute drive to most of the rest.
We loved the location in a quiet, safe neighborhood, great water quality at the beach and love the amenities! The location is close to our home so we can take good care of it and easily address any concerns our guests may have during their stay.
