À propos de cet hébergement
Waterfront heaven with hot tub and sauna.
Widgeon has been extended towards the lake, with huge glass sliding doors showing off the spectacular view over the lake toward Ben Lomond and the Menteith Hills.
Widgeon has been given a stylish, contemporary makeover. Flooded by light, it now has cool, Scandi-minimalist interiors, softened by huge corner sofas, sheepskin bar stools, Chris’s handcrafted wooden tables and squishy rugs. Artsy touches – birch branch hangers, pineapple lamp shades, colourful cushions – add a touch of fun; vast floor-to-ceiling windows bring the stunning lake landscape in.
New this year, a separate one-bedroom designer pod with sauna and hot tub – we’re calling it The Nest – has given Widgeon an extra, ultra-romantic bedroom, so that it now sleeps eight. Widgeon also features a sheltered outside window seat for slumbering in the sun.
The Nest! which sleeps 2 makes Widgeon an 8 person property.
Effectively part of a semi-detached lodges, the two-storey building with its own paved area and outdoor furniture – perfect for drinking up the views on long summer evenings. And between ‘Widgeon’ and ‘The Nest’ you have a private area with Cedar hot tub and sauna.

Qui vous reçoit ?
Vous êtes reçu par Lochend Chalets

Hi,
I'm Topher. Our family have owned the Lochend estate for almost 70 years. The first lodges were built in 1974 so we are delighted to celebrate our 50th anniversary this year. Working here is never a chore, its a way of life and my biggest thrill is the reaction of guests when you open the door to the lodge and they look through the picture windows to the spellbinding view.
I have worked at Lochend all my working life. During the late 90's, my brother Nick (Scotland's youngest Michelin star chef) opened a restaurant and hotel in Glasgow but I was never far from my beloved Lochend. I love to walk the hills around so please ask for local knowledge. I also have a passion for motorcycles and take off to the highlands whenever I can.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?
The Lake of Menteith is a truly magical place. Its the only lake in Scotland, there are many stories as to why it's a lake and not a loch but it has a unique landscape. The flat carse of Stirling, once a sea, drifts all the way from Stirling Castle to Ben Lomond in the distance. The Lake of Menteith lies at the end of the carse close to the highland boundary fault, so the landscape is very special. Lochend is on the south shore of the lake in the lowlands and the north side of the lake rises up to meet the highland fault line. To the west lies Ben Lomond and views from our Lodges is spectacular. I truly believe you will not find another view that will fill your heart with such contentment.
Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?
Nestled on the south shore of the lake, the lodges enjoy the most stunning view. Lochend is a peaceful place as there is only one road in and out so i'ts almost like living on an island. Staying in one of our lodges will make you forget the real word, the view over the lake to Ben Lomond is spectacular and you can watch, Ospreys, otters and White tailed eagles (rare) from your living room.
We have lots of very friendly ducks, guests love them and become attached to them, they often receive a new name every week...
We have rowing and fishing boats on site - oh did I mention that the lake is the premier trout fishing loch (sorry lake) in Scotland! You are welcome to bring your paddle boards and canoes but we partner with Roll out Doors who can hire everything and offer lessons.
We have a games room, play area and tennis court so lots to keep you busy.
Best of all, brother Nick and this wife Julia run the best restaurant in the area on the estate. So good guests come to stay in the lodges just because the food is so good. There is also a shop and cook school where there is always something going on.
We refurbish or rebuild the lodges every 10 years or so all the properties here are well loved and look fantastic. A visit to Lochend will stay with you forever.
