Lovely house with cosy lounge. Generous supply of logs provided and available for donation. Jill very welcoming and gave us leeway on departure time (although we had to leave early anyway) which is always appreciated.Very convenient for the Main St. with the shops and pubs. Great area for photography and walking.Highly recommend Nick Nairn’s restaurant not too far away. Would definately go back.

Clean, comfy house
Good house up the hill in Aberfoyle. Well equipped kitchen & comfy beds. We (oldish people!) found the tv too small but the downstairs projection onto the wall via firestick works well. Thank you for coffee, biscuits & fast responses.

Glad you enjoyed your holiday, thanks so much for taking the time to review us and especially mentioning the comfy beds and well equipped kitchen & Maggies homemade Scottish Shortbread in your welcome basket. And great to hear you enjoyed the house & area. I've noted your opinion on the TV screen size, for anyone interested, its a Samsung smart TV 32 inch), it can be seen in the photos of the living room, but we also have a cinema room and glad you enjoyed the projector with fire stick as an alternative. Kind regards Jill

Home away from home
Jill’s place is fantastic, lovely furnishings , comfortable beds, superb shower in the Wet room and fully equipped kitchen. Unfortunately the newly constructed deck didn’t see much use because of the weather.
Jill’s place is a two minute walk to the store, butcher and several pubs. Location is also accessible to lots of beautiful hikes.

Hidden gem!
Our booking and stay were a five-star experience! We had a very pleasant exchange with our host Jill and received all the necessary information before our journey began.Once we arrived, everything was in excellent condition: a fully equipped kitchen, a beautiful bathroom with a fantastic shower, comfortable bedrooms, and a cozy living room. Everything was exactly as shown in the pictures.Aberfoyle itself was the perfect choice for us! Dog walks could start right down the street, and within minutes you were in the woods — which was absolutely lovely. The Co-op just down the road in the other direction had everything we needed during our stay.Aberfoyle is the perfect base for exploring the surrounding area — whether you're into hiking, cycling, or motorbiking. Stirling is not far away, and the drives through Queen Elizabeth Forest Park (including the Aberfoyle zipline experience) were wonderful. And after a day of adventure, you can relax in one of Aberfoyle’s pubs or cafés — all just a short walk from "12/14 on the hill." You’ll definitely find a dog-friendly spot (we and our Gordon Setter certainly did!).We can definitely recommend a stay in Aberfoyle — and especially at "12/14 on the hill"!

Ideal base for regional adventures
14 On the Hill was a great little holiday house - well set up, well appointed, comfortable and cosy. It was also a fantastic base for exploring in every direction from Stirling to Glasgow, to Loch Lomond to the Highlands and all with the Trossachs National Park right there. Stunning scenery around and Aberdoyle itself is a peaceful rural setting with great walks, trails from the village. The living space upstairs had plenty of space for the family and was very sociable. The kitchen has everything you need and has been thoughtfully equipped. The house is so lovely and warm (good heating system) that you didn't even need the little log burner (but nice to have the choice). The small movie room with projector downstairs was loved by our boys! The CoOp in town is a good local store with everything you could need to make choosing food each day pretty easy.
Jill. As a host, was great with her communications and help and always responsive.
Overall if you want a great base for exploring this part of Scotland at a reasonable price - then look no further.

Beautiful property, beautiful village
Let me start by saying everything was wonderful. The house was a nice place to stay. However, I think it's important to say that if you're disabled, this may not be the place for you. There is a set of stairs that was more than I could manage. Jill has updated her profile to mention this. But it advertises 3 baths. It does not have a bath upstairs. 2 showers downstairs. I ended up sponge bathing all week. Not ideal but I managed.
Ok, that's the only negative things. Now on to the good stuff.
The house was perfect in every other way. Jill was a great host and was quick to respond to any issues. Very comfortable stay and was well equipped. The village was endearing! Tiny and quaint. It was great to stay in a small town with no real commercial or chain business. (1 exception is the Co-Op grocery store). Idyllic in every way.
In closing, this place is as near to perfect as possible. As far a accessibility for disabilities, be sure to contact Jill first. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.

Thanks Shawn for taking the time to write your review! Am so happy you loved the house & the village - and that you found the place "as near perfect as possible!" We love the village too, and yes agree that its nice to find independent shops and cafes & pubs on the doorstep. I am so sad though that you didn't mention your disability in advance of booking, as we could have advised on the stairs and the layout. On the accessibility section of VRBO its clearly stated that we are not wheelchair accessible & that usually includes stairs. Despite this setback for you, I was pleased that you could stay on the same level as the living areas in a lovely double bedroom, and that your fellow guests were able to access the full range of facilities we offer (ensuite wetroom/family bathroom and 2 further bedrooms) You mention the 3rd bathroom - well it is clearly described as a wash hand basin & toilet on the vrbo site so there shouldn't be any confusion at all. Yes agree that's great advice you give to others, always good to check in advance if you have any special requirements that you'd like to discuss and we are always happy to advise. thanks.
Ps (to anyone reading this , whilst no 14 on the hill is new to VRBO we do have a sister property next door 12 on the hill, which has many great reviews so feel free to check us out there too, thanks)
