We loved the cottage though we had several difficulties that needed support. Sheena was very responsive and we really appreciated her help and Michaelâs help. The view is terrific and we walked into town and to the quay easily.
This is a lovely home with a great modern kitchen and many quaint features such as the goblin-esque statue over the main entryway. We enjoyed the changing tidal effects on the estuary, and the many birds and water fowl. This was our base station and we spent a day exploring the Hook peninsula, a day at Rock of Cashel, and a day in Waterford. We wish we could have stayed longer and hope to return again some day.
Property located in a very scenic location with fabulous view at the rear of the property. Lovely quiet area too. Plenty of tourist attractions within close driving distance. Inside of property was spacious and quaint. One small disappointment was that the property was not warm and heated when we arrived. Other than this small issue we had a lovely stay and experience. The house is in a fabulous location, right on the river and close to beautiful beaches and lots of interesting places to visit. The house is well laid out and you can enjoy beautiful views from the living room, upstairs terrace and garden. The house was well equipped but could do with a bit of work - the bathroom off the stairs smelled of damp/urine, the fabric on the dining chairs was stained, the sofa was grubby and the mattress on the double bed in the upstairs bedroom was uncomfortable.
Beautiful location
The house itself wasnât very clean
Rat droppings in one of the cupboards
Dining room chairs dirty and stained
Windows needed cleaning
Showers either didnât work or were very poor
Shower curtain filthy
Pillows stained with mildew
Curtains hanging off the rails
Sun umbrella but nowhere to anchor it
Loads of flies dead on the windowsill
I have taken photos and videos
I expected more for our ÂŁ2700 paid

Alles in Ordnung, nur die StĂŒhle im Esszimmer mĂŒssten ausgetauscht werden .Einige Stellen in der KĂŒche mĂŒssten besser gereinigt werden. Z.B.Abzugshaube. Die Lage ist sehr schön!!!
Beautiful location on the water, just outside the village of Fethard on Sea. Peaceful, quiet and relaxing. Great location from which to explore Waterford/Wexford area.
Lovely location, cottage a little tired and some oddities
We had a delay in our arrival due to ferry cancellation so arrived about 10.30pm. The cottage windows had all been left open in the bedrooms so they were all cold and felt damp. The downstairs bedroom was the worst and the chair in the room was actually wet. We did originally have 6 adults coming and we were aware that one of the rooms was a twin bed room we did not know however that the doorway into the room was very low and would have been a real problem for the intended occupants, it would have been nice to have read about this in the cottage details before booking. When we arrived every room we walked into we walked through cobwebs, whether this was due to the windows being left open or not quite as thorough a clean as normal im not sure. As I said the location was perfect overlooking the estuary but the pervasive feeling of being damp through out the cottage was a shame. We didnât think we would need to keep putting the heating on to help dry out and warm the cottage up. We also had intermittent hot water. The outdoor furniture needs a bit of attention and due to the number of beautiful trees, regular attention to cleaning the sap off would save visitors clothes. The final two things that I would like to say is that all of the previous occupants left over food stuffs and toiletries, I feel should have been removed before the next visitors arrival if only to be a bit covid safeâŠ. The second thing that we did not know on booking was that you have to get rid of all your own rubbish (âŹ8for two bags) & recycling, this is done down in the village one bit at the recycling centre and the other at a disposal point at the Londis weâre you purchase a voucher for the didsposal point. I donât know if this is standard in Ireland or just at this cottage either way knowing in advance would have been useful. As my husband put it weâre on holiday not worrying about traipsing round the town with the rubbish is one of the little luxuries you appreciate. We did leave the cottage as clean as we found it as we always do.
The boiler system was powered down before our arrival which was very late in the evening and it took us a day before we figured out what was needed so that we had hot water. I think that is some thing that should be checked by the property manager prior to a family checking in to ensure they have hot water available on arrival. The location is very convenient and the location is as described.
We are two retired couples spending ten days in Eire. We found the accommodation had plenty of room for us and the position was quiet, with lovely views over the estuary.
We had a problem with one of the toilet systems, the water never stopped running which was unfortunate but ear plugs allowed a good night sleep and we understand the problem is being resolved asap.
Unfortunately the property was in need of some care and attention. The balcony was very green and mouldy as were the chairs so we could not sit out their or see the view very well . Their was food crumbs and wrappers left in the draws in the small bedroom and black marks on the pillow cases. All the upstairs windows were open when we arrived which was late at night so it was extremely cold . Sofa covers could do with a wash and black mould in the small bedroom. But on the upside location was brilliant . Donât think you should have to pay such a big service and cleaning fee for the property.
We went for a long weekend over Halloween with the kids and had a lovely stay. The cottage was cosy and as described, the location great for a stay with kids. We had sunny autumn weather, went to play mini golf at abbey par 3, visited tintern abbey and took a tour of hook light house which was fantastic as they had games and family fun on for the kids for Halloween.pennywise the clown made sure we were well entertained and the kids loved him. All is close by so the kids didn't have to get bored in the car for too long and you can even walk to the pub in fethard where you can enjoy a really good meal with the family. I would certainly recommend the house and surroundings for a trip with the family. Thanks to our host and the people we met !
Waterside Cottage is probably the nicest holiday home I've ever stayed in. The location is amazing: right at the water's edge. Our daughter (5) loved exploring the shoreline, collecting shells, and trying to catch crabs. At low tide we could walk across the estuary to explore another, otherwise inaccessible, beach. The cottage interior is lovely, bright and spacious with a real maritime feel. Sheena has great taste! We were blessed with good weather, but I could also imagine staying here in winter. We'll be back!
House is very roomy, lovely location, close to shops and pubs. Great area in garden to sit out and enjoy the views and weather. Also a lovely balcony area off the bedroom. Would use it again in the future.
What can I say - Sheenaâs house is absolutely perfect. The sea views from the house and lovely garden are spectacular, and the house itself is perfectly laid out for open plan living. The kitchen is very well equipped for cooking with anything and everything you need. The beds are very comfy, bedrooms large and showers great with plenty of hot water. The house was warm and cosy in the middle of winter. The location is sensational with easy access to great walks and beautiful beaches within a mile of the house. There is so much to do within a 30 min drive of the house - Hook Lighthouse, beaches, JFK Arboretum, Dunbrody Abbey and gardens and much more. Fethard is a nice little village with a great fish and chips Doyleâs plus nice gastropubs walkable from the house. You wonât be disappointed staying here if you enjoy a comfy cosy house in beautiful surroundings.
