Hands down the BEST Bed & Breakfast we've ever stayed at. The cabin was charming and comfortable and secluded. Great bed, outdoor and indoor shower, front porch with swing, no traffic noises or city lights, just the beauty of nature! Mrs. Ethridge is lovely! The epitome of a southern lady and an outstanding cook! Breakfast was so amazing we bought 2 jars of her homemade Mayhaw jelly and her cookbook! Ethridge farms is the ultimate getaway. It will truly restore your soul!! Just book it!!!

Birders!!

A very special place. Ann, the hostess, is excellent, yummy biscuits and jelly from the farm in the morning!, and she’s provided everything you need. Our cabin was very private on the gorgeous grounds of the farm. Yes, it’s an hour from high island but I’d much rather stay at this special spot than Comfort Inn! I will definitely try to return...and I’d love to rent the whole place for a wedding.

Secluded and peaceful

Ms. Ann was the best host. Service was phenomenal and her food was absolutely delicious. We highly recommend splurging on the dinner that you can purchase for extra cost. Picking blueberries was fun as well. She sends you home with quite a bit of the seasonal fruit. Ms. Ann obviously loves what she does and is very good at it. We will definitely be returning.

Thank you so much for the wonderful review. I truly enjoyed your visit to the Farm and surely hope you will return one of these days! At the Farm we try to assure our guests have a pleasant and memorable visit. We always enjoy hearing that our guests had an opportunity to sit back and relax on the porch swings or rocking chairs. We hope you fished at the pond, and hiked the nature trails -- all right here on the grounds. If you were not able to visit the Big Thicket National Preserve on this trip, maybe you will be able to go there on your next visit. I'm glad you enjoyed the blueberries; we like to give our B&B guests a gallon of fruit they have picked. I look forward to seeing you next time! ~Ann Ethridge

Glam ping Family Style

We stayed in the Deer Run cabin, And I’m so glad it worked out that way. I think this cabin has a little more privacy than Mayhaw. Some things that you cannot tell from the website are that you can have a fire pit, There is a grill, And the front porch is fantastic! We could smell the giant gardenias next to the porch while rocking in the rocking chair and swing. The breakfast Was child friendly for my four-year-old. She gobbled up the biscuits and scrambled eggs that Ann made us. We went blueberry picking on the property, Such a great experience for the whole family. By the time we left and felt like a family member. She has a wonderful piece of paradise that she shares with the rest of us. I would be interested in going back and checking this property out during the winter. There were ceramic fireplace in the family room and bedroom of the cabin! It was quite warm when we visited, which made the outdoor shower a fun family experience -we put our bathing suits on and it’s big enough for the three of us! Honestly I don’t know why am more places don’t have an outdoor shower.

Miss Ann is amazing! We will absolutely be back!

I’m sorry - I’ve been rather busy and was putting off leaving a review so that I could give it the attention it deserves; alas, I’m at the last day and find myself scrambling to leave a well-deserved positive review for this establishment. The place is not hard to find and is in “the country”, but there are plenty of places to go nearby if you need anything. The property itself is nice and I only wish we had come when there was actual fruit to pick (but we still had an amazing time!) Miss Ann is a lovely and gracious host and honestly one of the best cooks I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing! We paid a little extra to have her cook food for one evening for our anniversary and had to take great pains *not* to eat until we were physically suffering because the food was *that* good! (Lol!!!) We liked the property and there are many fun things to do nearby (especially hiking and canoeing). We also enjoyed that it wasn’t too far away from Houston (strange, I know!!), but we wanted to visit someone special to us who just started school there and were happy that it was a fairly quick and pleasant drive. The cabins are cute & at first glance “rustic” but had very comfortable beds & linens as well as a bathroom heater, very responsive climate controlled heating & a/c units, a nice front porch (w/swing!) and my husband’s favorite: the outdoor shower! We brought dvd’s galore but needn't have bothered; there were some movies as well as books, magazines and board games - & Mr. Jay loaned us one of his favorite dvd’s (which we watched.) There were a few condiments (maybe bring more if you’re fancy) but a well-stocked little cabin with more than enough of what we needed - even nice robes for when you finished your refreshing outdoor shower! There are 2 cabins somewhat close together and another on the other side of the “big house” (where Miss Ann lives). I initially thought maybe the cabin next to us (which was occupied) might be “too close” but I’m happy to say we never heard a peep and felt very comfortable and secluded despite not really being that far from anyone else. If you ask ahead of time, you may be able to bring a small pet (just be courteous!) I can’t imagine a demographic that wouldn’t like it here - though perhaps with the 2 steps in/out, it’s not very accessible to someone in a wheelchair or with mobility issues. Oh, breakfast was FANTASTIC! (And included!) Love you, Miss Ann! Hope to see you again soon!

If you love the outdoors this is the place to stay. We stayed in the cabin on blueberry hill, it was secluded and comfortable with hundreds of fireflies at night. fishing pond and walking trails near by, amazing breakfast and I would highly recommend the dinner. Rustic charm and southern hospitality

Ann was very welcoming to all our guests. The reviews do not lie, her homemade biscuits are delicious! Can’t beat the wide open spaces on the property. There was tons of room to explore with our 2&4 year old. Even if we missed a fruit picking season. We had a wonderful bonfire and picked up wood on our way to the property off the main road. Cabins are as advertised, nothing fancy but quite clean. We enjoyed our stay and would return.
