Situé dans une ferme vieille de plus de 200 ans au pied des majestueux Peaks of Otter, ce chalet est parfait pour une escapade à la campagne. Profitez du porche se balançant de notre pergola nouvellement construite tout en profitant d'une vue panoramique sur la Blue Ridge Parkway et surplombant notre grand étang de 3 acres. Amateur de chevaux? Vous adorerez regarder notre pâturage pour chevaux vers notre grand étang où la pêche à la ligne est autorisée! Êtes-vous un chasseur passionné? Ce serait l'endroit rêvé pour votre séjour. Nous avons une glacière à gibier sans rendez-vous, une aire de transformation de la viande et un abri à peau de cerf disponibles sur place. À quelques minutes de la forêt nationale.

Nous sommes idéalement situés à 15 minutes de la ville de Bedford, à 10 minutes de Peaks of Otter Lodge and Campgrounds, à 30 minutes de Lynchburg et de Liberty University, à 45 minutes de Roanoke, à 30 minutes de Smith Mountain Lake. Nous sommes à 5 minutes de Peaks of Otter Winery et à 10 minutes de Gross’s Orchard - les deux méritent d'être explorés pour avoir une véritable idée de cette région. La ville de Bedford abrite le National D-Day Memorial et regorge de nombreux arts et antiquités de qualité dans notre pittoresque centre-ville. D'autres excursions d'une journée méritent le détour: Appomattox où la guerre civile s'est terminée, la forêt de peupliers de Thomas Jefferson, Monticello à UVA, le pont naturel de VA, le musée du train et le musée d'art Taubman à Roanoke et le Snowflex Center de Liberty Mountain.

This is our go to place whenever we are in the Lynchburg area. We have stayed too many times to count now. This house has a well stocked kitchen with all the items necessary to prepare meals, bake cookies or even a cake! The beds are comfortable and the bedrooms have plenty of blankets. During the summer months, it can be humid when it’s really hot outside but the a/c units do make it comfortable, especially at night. The property is very calm and relaxing and you are free to stroll. The owners are very accommodating and accessible!! Highly recommend this cottage!!

SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE

WE STAYED FOR A LONG WEEKEND AND TO ENJOY A VIRGINIA DARE CRUISE. THIS HOME WAS ABOUT A 40 MINUTE DRIVE FROM THEN LAKE BUT THE COUNTRYSIDE WAS SO BEAUTIFUL THAT IT DIDN'T MATTER. THE RENTAL WAS AS EXPECTED AND WHILE NOT FAR FROM THE MAIN ROAD IT WAS SO QUIET AND PEACEFUL. WOU;D DEFINITELY STAY AGAIN.

This property is absolutely charming...cute, quaint, and incredibly peaceful. The views are stunning, and the setting is quiet and relaxing. The home was well-equipped with everything we needed and had just the right amount of space for two adults and two young children. We especially enjoyed visiting Noodle the horse and visiting the on the property. We’d love to return for another stay!

The property and location is very peaceful. The cottage is a rather eclectic space but beautifully outfitted. The host was very responsive and there were the extras of flowers on the table and fresh baked cookies upon arrival.It's a little further from liberty Univ than we first thought but it is convenient to hiking at Flattop and the D day memorial...which we did all three.

So serene!

The cottage was cuter than we anticipated! We loved the cozy family / fireplace room. The gas fireplace heats the room up very nicely. The king size bed in the main bedroom was quite large and fairly comfortable, with lots of big pillows. The portable electric heaters available in every room worked fine too. We would have liked to stay longer than two nights, but alas... another couple had already reserved that day. Sarah, the owner, is very responsive to questions during your stay. Thank you for a great getaway!

Beautiful quiet countryside!

This is our second stay at this particular VRBO and it will certainly not be our last. Not only is this place situated in the country, but you have an excellent view of the mountains on all sides. Since it sits on an actual working farm, you have the peace, quiet and tranquility of country life. The place itself has everything that you'll need with a well stocked kitchen, full sized refrigerator, stove and microwave. Ample dishes and utensils make meal prep easy. The king bed in the master bedroom is sooooo comfortable! The second bedroom has a full size and twin bed creating plenty of sleeping space for everyone. The cozy family room has enough couch space and reclining chair to make tv watching enjoyable for all. The hosts are amazing and if there's anything that you need, they are quick to respond to inquiries. Highly recommend this place. It is one of our favorites and we will certainly be back!

Wonderful peaceful location

The bed was very comfortable with the right amount of bedding. The kitchen had everything we needed and plenty of space in the refrigerator. Enjoyed not being close to busy roads or any traffic, and enjoyed the view.

Vous êtes reçu par Sarah Mayhew

My father-in-law purchased this farm in 1978 where he and wife, Margaret raised my husband and his brother. Margaret and Tony still reside in the large farmhouse which is located just a short distance from the property. My husband, myself and our three children live “over the pond and through the woods” from the cottage. As the more tech savvy one between the two of us, I manage the online reservations while Tony typically enjoys being hands-on with anything that’s needed during your stay. Feel free to contact either of us! We always love to get to know our visitors!

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

The farm was once a full working dairy farm, dating over 200 years old. Up until last year, we have rented this cottage as a long-term rental. We are pleased to now offer the cottage as short-term rental where visitors to the area can enjoy a home such as ours.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

The peacefulness that our property brings is something you can't find many other places. As you swing under our pergola or sit around the fire pit and listen to the sounds around you, one can imagine what the farm would have looked like so many years ago. We are a history lover's dream!
