For four old brothers, a cousin and a nephew celebrating our annual family fishing trip, this was without a doubt, the nicest place we've ever stayed. Everything was first rate, exactly as presented. We very much enjoyed beverages on the balconies each day!
This was our family vacation and we traveled from a few different locations to meet at Smith Mountain Lake.
We found the house spacious and comfortable. Almost cabin like. Could use a good deep cleaning inside & out. But I think that can come with a home away from home Thatâs not occupied full-time. Love the convenient location to an adorable general store as well as groceries, shops, restaurants & the marina.
The downstairs area is great for games and movies. A Perfect separate space for kids and teens. A Well stocked home, made our vacation easy and relaxing. Loved having outside seating areas to enjoy and the doc (Where we spent most of our time). Had fun kayaking and using the water toys provided by the owners. We Try our hand at fishing with not much luck, but enjoyed being outdoors anyways. We did rent a pontoon boat from the marina and had a fabulous day on the lake, cruising and tubing. The owners were easy to communicate with, and were available for our questions. We enjoyed our stay, And hope to visit again.
The house is is very pretty, spacious, well layed out, and well stocked with books, dvds, games, cookware, utensils, toilet paper etc. It is bright with cheerful decoration. And having five bedrooms was great, allowing everyone to have a comfortable bed and privacy. We had a wonderful time. The owners were happy to answer questions before the rental and were very accommodating. We were just disappointed in the lack of cleanliness. The owners apologized and said they were trying a new cleaning service, but will change. I hope they find a better one. And one thing: the queen bed in the master bedroom is so high that my mother could not get into the bed and thus had to sleep further away from the bathroom. My son (6'2") and his wife (5'11") both had to work getting in the bed themselves. So be aware it is not a bed for the faint hearted. Also, the house could use a railing for the few steps going into the house to help less mobile people. But overall, we were happy with our stay, the house, and the view on the lake.
We greatly enjoyed the house. The kitchen was well stocked and there was plenty of space for two families. The outside decks had plenty of seating and could be enjoyed even on rainy days. There were lots of fun water toys, including 3 kayaks.
The hosts Pat and Annette were very attentive and answering all our questions day or night. Made our stay very enjoyable and we appreciate the use of their lake house and kayaks!! We all had fun and love Smith Mountain Lake. Iâm
Sure we will be back again!
Excellent property. Space in the basement is great for teens, although adding access to a downstairs bathroom would be great. There was a pile of dirt, etc in the back bedroom upon arriving but it was evident the house cleaner just forgot about it. A few towel racks, etc, need to be reattached. Overall, it was an excellent stay! Water was SO clear while we were there! Having access to paddle board and kayaks was welcomed! Will rent again.
Had a fantastic time staying here. The lake access and the boat dock next to the house made for a fun week of watersports, and the house was plenty big for the four of us (two adults and two kids). Highly recommend!
The light, airy main living area is much larger than pictures convey, and there is ample comfortable seating. Outdoor spaces provide expanded views and lots of seating. Food Lion just a few miles away. This was the perfect place for our family to finally get together for the first time since covid began!
House was located in close proximity to shopping and boat rental facilities. Dock facilities at the house were great. Having both bathrooms upstairs was a little inconvenient, but we managed. Downstairs area had a musty smell so spent most of the time upstairs.
We rented this house for a family get together on the lake. I docked my 21' bowrider at the dock and we boated every day we were there. The kitchen had all items required to cook meals. There is an outdoor gas grill that we used almost every day. There was a firepit, but no firewood. When you are in the kitchen you can look out the kitchen window and see the main channel and turn around and look out of the window at the cove side of the house (where the dock is). The cove is quiet and perfect for swimming off the dock. The deck outside had a covered area with a table so you can eat meals outside while overlooking the cove. We had a question for the owner during our stay and she was very responsive. I would rent this house again!
This was exactly what we needed. This part of the lake at this time of year was calm and beautiful. We all enjoyed kayaking and hanging out together as a family. So peaceful and cozy. The hosts went above and beyond to make our stay special.
This house is amazing it had more than enough space for my family the house was so clean and up to date the porch was the best to sit and watch the sunrise. There were so many water toys to play with my kids lived in the water. The price is perfect. Thank you so much we will be back.
Very nice place to stay! Close to the water, sun in the morning, shade in the afternoon. Nice covered deck to use to eat outside, read , etc. Plenty of room. Lots of water toys for adults and children to use. Nicely equipped kitchen. Nice layout. Hope to be back next year!
The house was in a perfect location. The cove was not busy like the main channel gets.
The house is in a great location. It was easy to get to the dock. The owners left the boat house open for us to use their floats and kayaks, which was extremely generous. The floating dock was big enough for us to enjoy just sitting there and fishing. The cove was not congested, so our daughter was able to learn how to drive a jet ski and our boat. The house was a great size for two families. We weren't falling over each other, plenty of places to sit and relax inside and out. I would defiantly stay in this house again.
10 minutes by boat to Halesford Bridge - the activity center of Smith Mountain Lake (restaurants, boat rental, Kareoke, bars, arcade, carnival games, rock wall and more), LARGE dock, fire pit, culdesac, peninsula (water view from both sides of the house, easy walk to lake, access to water toys kayacks, floats, knee board, etc)
