Old Forge Waterfront Cottage Fourth Lake

At Palmer Point, we take all feedback, both helpful and hurtful, very seriously as we are always trying to improve the experience for our guests. I’ll address Sara’s points and then I’ll tell you a little more about our interactions with her, if you care to stick around. This is going to be lengthy, though. There’s a lot to tell. I’m the owner of Palmer Point and every one of the pictures you see is authentic and true to what the house looks like. It is a lovely house with an amazing porch. Yes we rent boats and cottages and we have bikes, canoes, kayaks and SUPs for rent. We do allow guests of the Palmer House to use them without extra charge. All you have to do is be polite and ask. The view of Fourth Lake is spectacular. We have ten pontoon boats that go out between 9-10am daily. Multi-generational groups come with their coolers and fishing poles, board the boats and take off. The rest of the day is absolutely peaceful. We do get busy sometimes selling gas to boaters on the lake but customers are polite and quiet. The gas truck arrives once or twice per week and stays for 15 minutes. The tank is covered with landscaping but you can see it. In fact, Sara chose to use it to dry her children’s bathing suits and life jackets, which surprised us because nobody ever did that before. Many of the houses in the area have propane tanks very close to the buildings that are exposed for easy access by trucks that come to fill them. This is not unusual and our tank looks similar to that. Yes you can smell fumes when the tank is being filled. Again, that lasts about 15 minutes and there isn’t anything we can do about it. Sara arrived early on Saturday while our cleaning service was still getting the house ready. Check-in is 4pm and they got there around 1pm. They started unloading and insisted on putting food in the fridge but our cleaning service pushed back and made them wait. They began unpacking and put great pressure on us to hurry up. We let them in early and I inspected the house. It looked great. I asked her husband Sean if everything looked good and he said yes and seemed pleased. Sara said the closets had junk in them. There are two hall closets that nobody uses that have junk like flashlights and extra household items and the laundry room shelves have some stuff on them. Nobody has ever complained about this nor do they care but you can rest assured that we will clean out our closets this fall!
