We loved our stay here! Perfect for a birding trip to Point Pelee.House has everything you could need for your stay. It's clean and comfortable, and has a lot of nice touches. We didn't have nice weather or we would have loved to spend more time in the backyard! But we loved looking out the back at all the birds and bunnies hopping around.Highly recommend if you're visiting the area!
It was a great place to stay. It had everything we wanted and more. It was a very short drive to the park. We saw birds in the back yard. It is very quiet. With three cars the single lane is not the best.
The South Point Retreat has been meticulously renovated and decorated with special touches. It is cozy and comfortable. Nice quality towels, soaps and shampoo/conditioner provided in both bathrooms is a nice touch. The beds are comfortable with quality bedding. We were the first guests to visit so Gerry and his wife graciously greeted us at the home to go over some details. We did learn upon arrival that the gas stove had not yet been hooked up, but an induction burner was provided. Not ideal for indoor cooking but we made it work. Also, the property is not as "secluded" as we were anticipating. While the trees will provide some privacy during spring/summer/fall, we felt it was important to note that there is a neighbor that is very close. We did not see the neighbors or their dogs during the day but the dogs were let out late at night (midnight and later both nights) and woke us up with barking. My husband looked out at one point and saw the dogs, one being very large, running loose in our yard and barking at the front door. The neighbors clearly do not contain their dogs to their property. I understand the hosts cannot control what the neighbors do, but we have young kids and had we encountered the dogs during a time that we were outside I would not have appreciated that. We are dog owners ourselves and love dogs, but I do not trust dogs that I do not know. I feel this is a serious safety concern and I could not in good conscience leave it out of the review.
We had a great stay at this cottage. Beautiful and peaceful property with lots of space, the house was clean and extremely well stocked. Gerry's a great guy and very helpful, no negatives to this b&b!
Place was cute, clean and beds comfy and kitchen was not overstocked but had everything. Coffee maker has a built in grinder so beans or ground (no pods) work to bring. Next door neighbour on one side is close but you can't see them really but they do have dogs. One thing to note that we didn't notice when booking is that any guest over 2 guests gets charged an additional rate.
