Since listing our property on Airbnb and VRBO, we have received a total of 71 reviews—69 five-star reviews on Airbnb and 11 ten-out-of-ten reviews on VRBO. At no time has any previous guest raised a concern regarding a breach of privacy. The accommodation is located at the rear of our primary residence and is accessed via a shared alleyway, which is also used by neighbouring properties for bin placement and vehicle parking. On the evening in question, my nine-year-old daughter and I were placing rubbish into the bins when the guests arrived by car. We briefly acknowledged their arrival with a wave and immediately returned to our residence. Despite this, we later received a message alleging that their privacy had been breached. We strongly and categorically dispute this claim based on the circumstances outlined above. Furthermore, we believe the guest was seeking grounds to cancel the booking, as we observed two additional adult guests present at the property. This is a direct breach of our clearly stated house policy, as the unit is strictly suitable for a maximum of two adults only. Notwithstanding this breach, we provided an additional $500 refund as a gesture of goodwill.
