The Hobart CBD is only a 15 minute drive from the airport and itâs the place to be if you like being in the heart of the action. Step out the door and its only footsteps to the Theatre Royal, the Hotel Grand Chancellor, the Henry Jones Art Hotel, art galleries and an eclectic mix of shopping boutiques, cruisy coffee lounges, hipster bars as well as acclaimed fine-dining restaurants.
Itâs only a four minute stroll to the riverside and the iconic Constitution Dock, famous for the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. From there itâs only a few minutes lazy wander to Hobart Wharf and ferries to MONA. Just behind that, the historic buildings forming the Salamanca Place entertainment precinct is abuzz with a cosmopolitan hotpot of bars, brasseries and eateries. The Salamanca Market, one of Tasmaniaâs most visited tourist attractions, is also found there. Open every Saturday from 8.30am to 3pm, itâs more like a festival whereâs thereâs live music and you can meet the makers, artisans, designers and producers displaying their wares of fresh produce from local growers, clothing and handmade products.
