Private all season cottage on the majestic Madawaska River!

Stunning, large, 4 season cottage with 3 bedrooms, one bathroom and screened in porch with beautiful river views. The cottage is nestled in old pine trees that provide privacy, and faces the famous Madawaska River known for its white water paddling and fishing stock. 2 hours from Ottawa, close to the Ottawa Valley and Barry’s Bay, and 3.5 hours from Toronto. Updated with a contemporary and modern kitchen, comfortable beds, large dining room and well appointed living room and basement rec room. This property is family friendly, has 2 kayaks available, outdoor fire pit and great swimming off the dock. A short 10 minute walk on the main road is the put in point for the rapids, as well as the Paddler Coop. An hour away from Algonquin Park’s east gate, and an hour away from both Bonnechere Provincial Park and Bon Echo Provincial Park.

March Break Getaway

This property is beautiful and the cottage was immaculately clean. We had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway with kids and dog. We hiked the nearby hydro Palmer Rapids portage route every day. The kids cold plunged in the river and then warmed up by the bonfire. The river itself is majestic at this spot and the view from the cottage sofa and the screened-in porch was excellent. Kellie and Florencia were easy to get ahold of and answered any question we had. It was so nice to be able to bring the dog with us. We will definitely be coming back.

We miss it already

We had such an amazing week at this cottage, wished we had rented it for longer! The location is peaceful and quiet, the sound of the Palmer Rapids in the distance at night was like listening to the ocean. The cottage was very well equipped with everything you need, (especially the kitchen), comfortable beds and furniture, and we loved sitting out on the screened porch to read, eat or lie in the hammock. The swimming and fishing was great from the dock (but water gets deep fast!), and we loved that there were kayaks and paddle boards for us to use. The grounds are lovely and the area with the firepit behind the cottage looks out on the river, and we enjoyed our morning coffee in that space and watching kayakers from the paddling school a few km away go by on their way to try and tackle the rapids. The basement area with a separate sleeping space and TV was very appreciated by our daughter, it gave her some private space. Florencia was an amazing host, she provided all the details we needed and answered all of our questions.

Best River Cottage Ever!

This rental was a wonderful experience in every way! The hosts were friendly and very quick to answer questions. The cottage was incredibly easy to find, and situated on a very wide part of the Madawaska River with lots of places to explore by boat. The highlight of the river was the rapids not far away. They were beautiful to watch, and kayaks and canoes challenged the rapids regularly. The cottage has 2 kayaks, and we did lots of exploring. The cottage itself was a delight. The kitchen is newly done, which made cooking really easy, and the screened in porch was an utter delight for meals, reading, games. There is even a hammock to read and look out at the water. I loved waking up early and looking out at the mist on the water from bed in the main bedroom. The living room furniture is astoundingly comfortable, and on rainy days we curled up with books and games and blankets, all cosy and with lots of space. The basement was perfect for our teen and their friends--a separate space for them to hang out, with beds and their own living room and view and TV, but still close enough that we were all together. The bunkie was truly beyond any bunkie I've ever seen--it was a mini-house, with a washroom and fridge, and the view from the bedroom was stunning. It was wow. This cottage was so bright and cheery, spacious and comfortable, and with a modern kitchen, it is my dream rental cottage, and we are already planning our return next year. Thank you for having us!!
