Lovely basement with everything you could need , very clean and all the sheets towels etc were provided. About a 10 minute walk to the station which was reasonable, not far to the lovely riverdale park too, with its cracking views of the city. Hosts were easily contactable, but we didnt need to as we had no issues. As far as basements go, with the household walking round above you will hear them sometimes, but we didnt find that a problem. All in all we would recommend for a single person or couple. Excellent place.
We were both very comfortable and very happy with our stay at 76 Sparkhall. The location is excellent - ten or fifteen minutes away from a subway station - but in a quiet street. While inter-personal relations are as much part of the guest as the host, we believe we got on very well with Arturo, his partner and his Property Manager. They were very communicative and responsive in all cases, particularly when we had to extend our stay. We can't comment on their response to issues, as we simply had none in our whole stay :-). We would recommend 76 Sparkhall to anyone considering it as a temporary stay.
My partner and I needed a short term rental to stay in while our own apartment became available. This place seemed nice, was in a nice neighborhood, and seemed well furnished at a price that was not exorbitant. Communication with the owner and the manager was easy, and finding the apartment was simple. The apartment was well stocked.
The major problem we had with the apartment was the height of the ceiling. At the time we rented the unit, this was not listed anywhere in the description. This basement apartment is not 6'5" in any place in the apartment, and I suffered several minor head injuries in the first week of living there. There is a vent in the center of the apartment that has cut my head, an edge above the desk and couch that has given me several lumps, and the shelf by the door has a dangerous overhang that has hurt both myself and my partner.
For context, I am 6'2" and my partner is 5'2", and she still hit her head several times. We seriously considered moving out immediately, even without getting a refund. We decided to stay due to financial reasons, so I spent the next several months hunched over.
The second major problem this unit has is extremely poor ventilation. The kitchen exhaust (over the stove) appears to pull smoke and steam off the stove and out of the vent directly above whoever is cooking. We had to cover the fire alarm with a plastic bag and a binder clip, or it would warn us incessantly for almost an hour - with all the windows open.
