All the comforts of home

Highly recommend! This was our second stay at the cottage and we will book again. The cottage was clean and has enough amenities that we were able to cook all our meals. It very cozy and decorated beautifully. There was a very nice parking spot and we felt secure and safe in the area.Check-in/Check-out was seamless, very easy and communication with the host was exceptional. We thought we left an item there and I had to contact the host and she was very prompt in a response back. The hospitality provided was very much appreciated!

Already booked for next year!

This property exceeded my expectations in every way. I was attending a conference at Mt. Vernon Nazarene University and needed what I called a Fortress of Solitude to decompress after very long days. It was conveniently close, had everything I needed, was QUIET and secluded, and looked like I had decorated it myself. I love that part of the proceeds from the rental go to support the charter Christian school on its grounds. Excellent property; highly recommend.

A perfect weekend getaway!

Colonial City Cottage was so cozy! The place was immaculate and had everything you could possibly need. When we walked in the electric fireplace was on and the little tree in the living room was lit up. There was a Keurig in the kitchen with coffee and tea pods and even creamers so you didn't need to go out for coffee. Of course, if you do, you must try the Happy Bean in town. The cottage was in walking distance to town. And even though it is in town, it was pretty quiet at night. The recliners in the living room lay all the way flat, perfect for lounging while watching a movie. The host (Sue) was very kind and communicative. We are looking forward to our next trip to Mt. Vernon and we will definitely be booking the Colonial City Cottage again!

Small town charm

My stay at the cottage could not have been any better! What was supposed to be a mother daughter weekend turned into a solo trip after my mom ended up becoming ill. The cottage was perfect for a relaxing get away! It was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Everything I needed was close by and very easy to access. I would definitely stay again and would not hesitate to recommend the property!

If you are a couple or a person looking for an enchanting alternative to a hotel experience in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, we recommend "The Colonial Cottage. You will be pleasantly surprised from the minute you park your vehicle within steps to the entryway and see the charming front porch with comfortable chairs and inviting decor by the door. Upon entering the Colonial Cottage you will be immersed in the welcoming, white-glove clean atmosphere created by the hosts. If you desire to prepare your meals you will be amazed at the fully-equipped kitchen including numerous spices. If you prefer to just have a cup of joe in the morning you will be astonished to find a Keurig with various options of drinks and flavors as well as creamers and sweeteners. The host has provided a binder filled with useful information and resources and shares her contact information so you can reach her if you have any questions. Once you experience the amenities and comforts available at the Colonial Cottage you will plan a return visit and recommend this delightful rental to your family and friends!

Quaint and beautiful cottage in great location

This cottage is very tastefully decorated and is in a great location, just a short walk into Mount Vernon downtown. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay including a fully functional kitchen. Everything was new and clean. The host was gracious and available, and we strongly recommend this cottage.
