We stayed for 4 nights with family and had a great time. The communication was excellent with helpful local recommendations. The kayaks and canoes were great to take out on the lake. Very enjoyable and a great area.

This is a spacious cottage with an absolutely beautiful view of Balsam Lake. The sunsets are fabulous. There was plenty of room for 6 adults and it was great to have 3 bathrooms! There were a few issues with the cleanliness- which I spoke to Jessie about- she was very responsive and helpful.I would suggest that if you are staying more than a few days, bring your own hand towels, face clothes and kitchen towels as the cottage has a limited supply. Read the parking information carefully- we didn't have a problem with only 3 vehicles but there is absolutely no parking availability nearby for day guests or extra vehicles. Having excellent internet was a big plus for a family member who had to work remotely.

We had a great time. The check in was smooth and the cottage was clean and tidy. Overall, the cottage was well equipped but if you plan to do a bon fire bring your own wood as it’s not provided. Otherwise it was a great visit!

Great stay at the cottage. The weather didn’t cooperate for us but we still had a great time. Well appointed cottage with lots of room and comfortable. Outdoor area would have been lovely to use on a warmer weekend. Host was very good with communication.

Great getaway from the city!

We had a wonderful stay at this cottage! The location and privacy were perfect, and the lake was pristine. We especially enjoyed spending time on the dock and in the backyard. Although the house is older, it’s well-maintained and spacious, with the added convenience of three bathrooms, which was fantastic! The rooms were also very spacious, which was a bonus. The town is just a 10-minute drive away which was also very convenient! We’ll definitely be returning in the future!

Islandview cottage

Our family thoroughly enjoyed the property and all of its amenities. We could literally unpack and enjoy right away! The views were incredible! The rooms were spacious and clean. We wished we had booked it for a full week instead of only 3 nights. All of the special touches around the cottage were appreciated and more than we had expected. The kids loved the projector screen on the lower level to watch movies too.

We had a lovely time at this cottage even though the weather was not the best. We love to fish even though we are just beginners but unfortunately there was no fish to be had in this lake. We even rented a boat for a few days. Perhaps it was the cold weather

Gorgeous Balsam Lakeview Experience!!!

A tranquil and serene place to stay and enjoy the beauty of nature! Such a gorgeous view to enjoy! The hosts of the property were amazing and they had given us all the instructions that were needed! They had done all the careful planning and were very knowledgeable about everything that was needed for the stay and it was the secret ingredient that made it the most marvellous trip for us. The house was super clean and all the amenities that we require were all provided. We had a great time at this cottage! Enjoyed our stay

Property is well kept and nicely decorated. Owners provide all essentials including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, paper towel, sandwich bags, detergent, some spices, cooking oil and pots and pans and kitchen utensils that are all in good shape. You really do have to just arrive and enjoy! There is a quality canoe and life jackets available. If you bring a boat or seadoos, docking is a bit of an issue without a lift due to the sometimes choppy water. We were able to rent a boat slip at a nearby marina. Property provided for a stress free relaxing family vacation.

This Beautiful Cottage is an Absolute Gem!!!

Jessie is an amazing host and communication with her was outstanding. I had some questions as we wanted to take our boat to the cottage. Jessie was friendly and thorough and answered all our questions promptly. The dock is large and spacious. We could park our boat easily and the boat launch is just minutes away. The cottage is very clean, modern, and well kept with all amenities. We enjoyed all our meals on the upper deck and watched the beautiful sunset over the lake each night. It was an amazing stay! I highly recommend this gem. We will definitely be going back.

What a great stay

We are so lucky to find this gem! Communication with our hosts was 10/10 they were so lovely to talk to . The property was lovely, clean, modern. The lake front is great! A bit rocky but we already knew this from being on the lake perviously. The kitchen was stocked with all of the cookware we needed. This property would be great for young children as well. We played many of the games that were supplied. Enjoyed the canoe, layed out on the dock and enjoyed night time fires. The gazebo on the upper deck allowed us to have our meals outside while enjoying the view . Already talking about coming back next year! Thank you so much for allowing us to enjoy your home and make everlasting memories!

The perfect getaway!

I'm so happy to have found this beautiful cottage. This was our second trip there, and the experience was just as remarkable as our first trip. My sons spent a lot of time snorkelling. They caught crayfish and a turtle (catch and release, of course!) and swam with the ducks! The boat launch is nearby, the dock area is spacious and extremely easy to navigate around and to park your boat, and the fishing was great. The cottage is modern and spacious with 3 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and reliable Wi-Fi if you need to work. The view of the sunset in the evening is breathtaking. It's the perfect place to go of you're looking to relax, unwind and recharge. Above all, the host went above and beyond to ensure our stay was amazing. The communication was incredible and I was able to plan our trip effortlessly. We will definitely keep going back! Thank again, Jessie and Ben!

House was nice. Misled on parking. Said parking for 3 cars and 2 trailers. Lucky if for 2 mini Austin’s on a dead end and single lane road. Had to back down lane way to launch boats. Complaints from neighbours while unpacking - we were blocking the road. Said they supplied pods for Keurig. Supplied enough for first day. Grass was unkept. Would not want to have my kid playing there. Ticks. Dock is a foot too high; impossible to tie up a boat or anything else properly. Damage to both boats from dock. Pictures of backyard deceiving; looks bigger than it is.

This guest review is so twisted and misleading. Truth is: #1 parking. Our parking instruction is "maximum 3 vehicles including trailers and boats", clearly stated in rental agreement and check in instruction. Don't know how it can be interpreted as 3 cars＋2 trailers? #2 complaint. You can't leave your car in the middle of the lane and go inside for hours. How can neighbors get in and out? #3 coffee pods. A full box of pods was prepared for guest and we are not Starbucks with unlimited supply. #4 damages to the dock. Guests ignored my remind of high wind and left his 2 boats in water. 1 boat was not tightened properly and hit my dock and my neighbors's dock so badly in the middle of night. After I communicated the situation and took initiative to fixi neighbor's dock, and then asked reimbursement from guest, guess what? He refused! The situation could be avoided if the boat was pulled out or tightened properly! My only comment is luckily no one gets injured. Wish all the best to find a property/host that's good enough for him.

The cottage that saved our vacation!!

After a last minute issue with a booking made back in March, this cottage literally saved our vacation!! Our group consisted of our family of 5 and another family of 5 from Germany. Jessie was very responsive to our questions and managed our last minute booking without any issue. When we pulled up to a beautiful blue house, we immediately knew we had made a great find! The spacious kitchen was able to accommodate our whole group (4 adults and 6 pre-teens/teenagers). We even managed to all fit at the table on the deck for dinner while enjoying the beautiful sunsets!! The bar fridge downstairs was very handy for keeping pop cold and the kids enjoyed a movie night on the big screen projector! The kitchen had all the necessary amenities which were all found in excellent condition and very clean. You will however need to bring your own tea towels. The sliding door out to the backyard made accessing the waterfront easy and the picnic table, Muskoka chairs, fire pit, and swing were enjoyed by all. Jessie thoroughly outlined what to expect regarding the lake and there were no problems with the rocky entry. The canoe was a great addition and there was room to keep our windsurfer/SUP beside it. The lake itself is beautiful and clean! Jessie was a fantastic host who responded very quickly to all messages. Everyone had a fabulous time and our friends got to experience cottage life in Canada!! Thank you Jessie!!

Couldve been better.. but wasnt what we thought it was..

This property was actually beautiful.. but honestly the property management wasnt the greatest.. there were bugs EVERYWHERE.. spiderwebs EVERYWHERE.. as a property owner i think the property should have been cleaned from the outside considering how many bugs they had.. the backyard was tiny(picture make it look very long but isnt), if you have kids you may not like this property because the backyard door is way too close to the water.. the neighbour is HORRIBLE.. kept getting calls from the owner because the neighbour kept complaining about literally the smallest things.. the listing says 3 cars allowance but theres no space for just 2.. bring your own bbq because theirs was NOT useable(there were bugs INSIDE the bbq) the basement which leads to the lakefront had a very bad sewage odour that just wouldnt go away no matter how much febreze we sprayed.. there was a bear claw IN the water at the lakefront.. AND THERE ARE NO FISH.. for the 4 days we were there we didnt NOT get even ONE FISH!!! So if you’re coming to have a good timing fishing with your kids.. DONT. Try your luck somewhere else..

Yes, we had parking issues but because guests parked perpendicular to the lane, blocking my neighbor's way out, have never seen previous guests parking in that odd way, that's point 1. And then guests drove over speed and nearly hit our neighbor's little boy playing in the middle of the lane, that's point 2, and to be honest, we don't think this is the smallest thing. And then another conplain about guests littering in the lane, that's point 3. As for bugs, yes, but not spiders, they are mayflies and are attracted to the property because the outdoor lights are on all night. Mayflies are harmless and a sign of excellent eco wellness of the region. Besides, they live just a day life. Honestly, we had never got so many compliants from different neighbors in just 3 days. We tried our best to communicate and work things out when concerns arose, and we are not responsible for any fishing experience. It's not a property for fishing from the dock though previous guests did show me his big good catch pictures. Anyway, we are sorry if this stay was not what you expected and wish you all the best in the future.

We had a great week at the cottage, it was the right size and enjoyed the kitchen , backyard,kayaks with great access to the beautiful Balsam Lake..There is a nice covered deck looking out onto the lake. The BBQ needs maintanance but works. Our major concerns are that there are only 3 parking spots and we were not made aware of this until a couple of days prior to arrival. We had to pay extra to keep our truck and boat trailer at the marina. There was also an issure after we arrived that they did not want us to keep our boat at the dock overnight. Water does get rough there,and the dock is not very secure. We would not have stayed here knowing these issures. The bathrooms could have been cleaner as well. One bedroom had 2 singles beds which would have been fine but the mattresses where on the floor, no frames. There are outside cameras in the front and backyard. \i don't have a problem with one in the front to monitor parking but not ok with one in back to watch our group sitting visiting. There is a cottager down the way that seems annoyed by this place being an Arbnb. Complained frequenty. We were very repectful of the cottage and the neighbours. \most were very friendly and welcoming. A great cottage with rooom for a small family with max 3 cars and no boat. .

Hi Donna, Thanks for your time writing us a detailed review. I'm sorry to hear that you had a hard time with parking and the camera. However, the facts that we only have maximum 3 parking, and the location and purpose of having 2 cameras watching waterfront & parking area were all clearly stated in the rental agreement When you booked early in January. We always prompt our guests to read the agreement so they are well informed and comfortable with that. As for docking, all our suggestion is for safety consideration, especially for guest's boat damage. The 2 twin bed matresses are not on the floor. Maybe you didn't check the detail. They are sitting on 2 low boxes. We had this setting for families with kids, especially small children so they can sleep on their own while parents don't need to worry about them falling from bed. We also cover electric outlets in this bedroom for the same safety concern of kids. Anyway, Thank you so much for the feedbacks and wish you all the best. Jessie

Great Stay with Friends and Family!

We had an amazing time at this lakefront cottage with our group of 10. The place was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed. The view of the lake was beautiful and so peaceful—perfect for relaxing and spending quality time together. The hosts, Jessie and Wei Sun, were really nice and communication was super easy. Everything went smoothly from check-in to check-out. Lots of space to hang out, cook, and enjoy nature. It was the perfect spot for a group getaway. Thank you, Jessie and Wei Sun—we’d love to come back!

Lovely cottage with mesmerizing lake

My husband and I loved staying at this modern cottage. It was exactly what we were hoping. It had all the amenities (fast wifi so we could do work, comfortable beds, great showers, big comfy couch, big screen tv and a projector, yoga mats, blocks, games, BBQ, etc etc). The lake was so close to the windows, it felt like we were on top of it and thoroughly enjoyed looking at it from the kitchen with coffee each morning - and how it changed with the weather. Mesmerizing! Communication with hosts was excellent, as was checkin/checkout. We went to Fenelon Falls, Lindsay and Bobcaygeon - all an easy drive away. We would love to come back!

Modern Lakefront Cottage, a Cut Above Expectations

My wife and I spent three wonderful days at the cottage. From beginning to end, the owners were great to deal with: cordial, friendly, helpful, with precise and immediate answers to questions, and thoughtful extra touches, including special greetings for our special occasion. The cottage is recently renovated, and the overall impression is of a modern but tasteful style, with a contemporary colour palette, and a mixture of modern and traditional furniture and art. The rooms are spacious, with large windows that provide fresh air and stunning views of Balsam Lake. The classic kitchen, with large counters and a huge table with various seating options, served all our needs. We used the excellent gas grill on the upper deck every night and, after supper, we cocooned in the large, well-equipped entertainment centre downstairs with Netflix or TV on the 5’ x 9’ projection screen. Everything is plentiful, in good working condition, and of high quality. To list just a few specific items of note, we particularly appreciated the gorgeous oak staircases, the blackout curtains in the East-facing bedrooms, the comfortable beds and cozy duvets, the ample storage space everywhere, the screens on the windows, the central air conditioning throughout the house, and the large number of electric outlets, as well as toilets that flush properly, faucets that deliver ready hot water, attractive liquid soap containers, and a high-end Henckels knife set in the kitchen. I’ve left the best for last: the lake view and the lake itself. From the moment we stepped into the cottage, we were captivated by the unobstructed and spectacular view of the lake from house, decks, and yard. Living in this cottage is truly living by the lake. The property is secluded in its privacy by mature pine and fir trees on both sides. The water in Balsam Lake is warm, clean, clear, free of weeds, and inviting. By the end of the dock, the depth is proper swimming depth. We could not manage to lift the canoe into and out of the water, but had a great time swimming about, or just floating on a noodle. When the weather was good, we blissed out for hours sitting on the dock, reading, talking, or just absorbed in the peacefulness of the scene, the warmth of the sun on the skin, the sounds of the lapping water, the ever-changing sky, and the gentle breezes from the lake. We would highly recommend this gem of waterfront living to anyone, including larger groups. A 5-star experience.
