Engelbrecht Cave - This huge complex of limestone caves under the city was first explored in 1884. Cave divers regularly explore this site and have provided maps showing the underground cave system. Tours take visitors down into two of the chambers.

Sound and Light Show at the Cave Garden - A spectacular sound and light show which tells our indigenous Dreamtime stories. Best viewed down in the cave. Nightly times vary to season and daylight saving. The cave garden sinkhole was the original source of water for the early settlers. This is a wonderful property. Very cute cottage and well decorated. In a great location. Kept beautifully. Lovely yard area and a very comfortable place to stay.Would give it five stars with a few improvements.No soap in the bathroom was the biggest negative. Empty container.For four people we only just made it with the toilet paper!Couldn’t find a bottle opener anywhere. At 600 a night these were small irritations that we didn’t expect to have. Do a bit better with the amenities and it’s faultless.

Great central location for our Mount Gambier stay. With 3 separate bedrooms it was perfect for our family week away. Bedding was very comfortable, along with great kitchen facilities enabling you to easily prepare meals should you decide to stay in. Perfect place for 3 couples or a Family of 4.

We spent the weekend in Mt Gambier for Generations in Jazz. The property was lovely, comfortable, warm and inviting. It was well equipped and had a view over the town. We would stay again.

Beautiful house

Lovely house that has been beautifully renovated but recommend getting air-conditioning upstairs. Was very hot upstairs which made it a bit uncomfortable to sleep overnight.

Peaceful classic limestone house and highly modernized

I have stayed in a few homes in Mount Gambier since finding the local hotels overpriced and under-maintained. I work in town somewhat regularly, and the location of this house is perfect in terms of quick access to the major roads and also a short walk into the town center. And the neighbourhood is very quiet! This home stands out, as it is very classic but well maintained on the outside, and sits up a hill that overlooks some of the town. The inside has been fully renovated and feels like a brand new house. I found the kitchen well stocked for cookery and breakfast prep. The solarium is a great place to be on sunny winter days, and all the living spaces quite open and functional. I would try to stay in this home again for future visits to Mount Gambier.

What you see is not what you get

We paid over 10,000 in advance and in good faith for an extended stay, expecting 'Luxe' accommodation.Instead, we found windows almost opaque and covered in cobwebs, soft furnishings that were dirty, a vacuum cleaner that was unusable and a kitchen sink that was badly cracked. The dishwasher was ineffective, the oven was dangerous to use with ill-fitting racks and grill pan, faulty kettle, loose sink mixer tap and missing door knobs.The back garden was badly neglected with a large dead tree, cracked plant pots with dead plants and cigarette butts and an overgrown tree constanty banging against the roof.Nothing was rectified during our stay and our request for a refund was denied.Our stay was a waste of our time, energy and money and was very disappointing. A shame to allow such neglect to what was once clearly a much-loved property..

Your message was received nearly a month after your stay had commenced, with over 75% of the booking completed by that time. Given this, and the nature of the concerns raised, we are unable to offer a refund. Throughout your 45-night stay, we did our best to respond to your concerns and liaised with our cleaner to ensure everything was addressed to the best of our ability. All of our properties are cleaned thoroughly between bookings; however, over the course of an extended stay—particularly one without a mid-stay clean—it is natural that elements like wind, rain, and garden debris may reappear. The dishwasher, in particular, is quite new, and may not have functioned as expected if an incorrect setting was selected. It’s worth mentioning that the guest who stayed immediately after you left provided us with a 5-star review, which suggests that the property continues to meet expectations for comfort and presentation. Additionally, your request to extend your stay—only declined due to an existing booking—indicates that there may have been aspects of the property you enjoyed. We’re sorry to hear that your experience fell short of expectations, and while we won’t be able to process a refund on this occasion, we do appreciate you reaching out and sharing your thoughts.
