Lovely home with amazing views. However we had no idea it was 2 apartments. But that was ok. Upstairs accommodates 5 people but there were only 4 cups, plates, bowls etc. I think the kitchen needs to be better stocked. Beds both up and downstairs were uncomfortable and not good quality mattresses. The furniture is outdated. The pool was dirty so we couldn’t swim. A 4pm check in is ridiculous. 2 pm is the norm regardless of the 11am checkout. Communication with ??? Was challenging. I think there’s better properties around.

Great house! Good location with parking. We did have issues with the wifi not working toward the end of our stay and the pool could have been cleaner but overall a lovely place!

Simply Amazing

The property has amazing views all around and has lots of character. The photos online don't do justice to the how beautiful this property actually is. We enjoyed all aspects especially the pool. We will be back again in Summer.

Great but a few important items not ideal

The house is great, the views are great, the location is grand. However you should not advertise a working lift when there isn't one. My parents are in their late 70s and the lift was one of the draws to the property. We only found out when we opened the front door that it is not working.

Disappointing

Poorly presented, the place was very tired, no lift, pool not able to be used, light globes not working, spouting overflowing onto path where we had to walk, we could not get anything on the tv, local or satellite, there was a terrible stale smell in the downstairs apartment and also the top. It promised a lot and delivered very little. We ended up leaving early.

The view is fabulous & the house is lovely but needs some maintenance, however we couldn’t get the tv to work & the one in the bedroom didn’t work at all. The beds aren’t great & the heated pool isn’t heated at all. Tried to contact the host after check in but no response. If your not capable of dragging your suitcase up the stairs, this isn’t for you

Perfect location, great views, relaxing space just a few things to make it perfect

The residence is situated in an ideal location to access all that Bay of Islands, specifically Paihia, has to offer. The residence has plenty of space for a large group, with areas to break away and enjoy the location. Great views of both sides of the bay make for the perfect and start to the day. The facilities are perfect for a long stay however a few things need to be addressed, the lift can be a bit tricky, the fridge started to leak towards the end of our stay and a few listed supplies weren’t accessible (e.g beach towels). Also it would help to have some general cleaning supplies (surface wipes) to keen things clean and tidy. Definitely need to update the guide that is supplied on arrival for changes in facilities and supplies and contact details. All in all a great place to stay and enjoy the bay.

Saved by the view...

Good location. Could drive to other locations easily. Lift did not work, problem for elderly people or disabled person to access back stairs to house, very slippery tiles when raining. Clothes drier did not work. Tv in main bedroom did not work. Pool was a disappointment, no sign of solar heating to be seen, so to cold to swim. Beautiful views and well equipped kitchen saved the day. I personally would not book the house again after seeing what other places were available in this beautiful town of Paihia..

Would not waste my money on this place again

Pool was gross and dirty, chemicals unbalanced, liner pealing and water freezing cold . Gas for stove was empty had to figure out on my own how to swap tanks. Dryer was broken did not work. No access to downstairs without going outside and around.location was nice but who ever we spoke to about issues was absolutely no help at all with any of the problems.

Not great

Very poor contact. No check in details were given the phone number on the listing didn’t work. Had to hunt for the correct number finally got ahold of someone at check in time with details. The listing says solar heated outdoor pool… well that was a joke, got there and the pump wasn’t going and it was absolutely filthy. Very disappointed. No instructions on how to use the tv and the beds were like sleeping on rocks. The views were its saving grace.

Hi monique sorry for disappointing you fist of all we advise pool is soar heated and depends on solar light so we can’t do much for that . There is remote for the tv and its connected with internet its same as u use at home even though u need to write msg and ask but we didn’t get any msg asking for tv . And regarding bed we got 3 double bed and one single we don’t know which one is rock and we didn’t get any review for bed like u but anyway we make sure next time dor you and guest. Thanks

Perfect location with qualifications

The property is a wonderful location, elevated with delightful views over the bay.Unfortunately we were not provided check-in codes and had to contact the owner/manager? through the Stayz app for this on arrival. To be fair the response was prompt, however for a property of this rate (550/night). Was advised that this contact was overseas - OK but we had booked 9 months prior, this wasn't last minute.The 4th bedroom is only accessible externally front the lower level. This has a seperate code for its lockbox - this also was not provided without further contact.The house is in reasonable condition, however the in house lift was not functional, the pool didn't appear to be well maintained. TV did not receive any signal, notified Contact, zero effort to resolve. Was advised by contact that Netflix and YouTube were available, only YouTube worked. Elderly parents disappointed.

Property not as listed

Beautiful home with great views and close to all amenities . Host needs to update his property description. Because it is not as advertised in the listing. "Fabulous Sea View 4 Bedroom House". You do not get use of all 4 bedroom. The 4th bedroom and bath is downstairs and not part of your rental. Host should let folks know that this could end up being a shared home, If the downstairs is rented at the same time. Host needs to update that the master-bedroom has a Queen bed and not a King. as well as the dryer is not on the same floor as the washing machine. It has a beautiful pool that we were looking forward too, how ever it was not serviced and we were un-able to use it during our 5 day stay. It would have been nice if our Host would have responded to our text and emails .

And regarding pool its salt water pool so its depends . But we are trying to give best service to our guest as much as we can .

Great location

Overall apart from some pre-check in issues our stay was fine for the 3nights we booked. Firstly the only pre-arrival information received was the auto advice from Book-a-Bach which advised to contact property owner for check in information. There was very little information provided by property owner other than the code to the key box for upstairs accommodation and downstairs accommodation. After a follow-up email sent to owner just before booking started who advised further information located at property. The night before check in, I received a message that a water blaster was booked to be on site while we were there if that was ok as our booking was made over 4mths in advance, I advised the owner that it wasn’t ok, the water blaster was postponed. Our check in was 4pm, when we arrived after 4pm. The cleaner was still cleaning the property, they were very nice and accommodating, and advised they were told it was ok to clean till 4.30pm but again not a good look to have the guests turn up and the cleaners still on site. Unfortunately the downstairs area which we also booked, internet wasn’t working, they just used upstairs internet. The weather wasn’t very good not owners fault, pool isn’t heated. Tv instructions would be good as it’s not very easy to use the Freeview set-up. We would’ve brought our chrome cast, if we knew there is no sky or digital tv available for guests. Main bathroom door lock not working. Lift helpful, but we preferred stairs.

Home away from home :-)

My family and I absolutely loved this property and thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It’s a gem tucked away with all the amenities like the swimming pool to make you not want to leave for anything. Having the wheelchair access/lift is great too as it makes packing and unpacking a breeze. I wasn’t able to get the pool heated and couldn’t find any instructions so maybe ask to have it set to be able to use the heated function. I did find there was quite a lot of cat hair but luckily there is a vacuum upstairs and downstairs. Would still highly recommend this home and would definitely come back.
