Location, location, location! Primrose Cottage is as close to the ocean as can be! See the surf, smell it, practically feel it in this comfortable, well-equipped cottage just steps from the beach. You can keep an eye on the kids playing on the beach from the open and expansive oceanfront covered porch. Recently renovated, Primrose Cottage is well-equipped and furnished for your convenience. The perfect little slice of the OBX, you'll be coming back year after year.

South Nags Head is a low-density residential area that is surrounded by the Hatteras National Seashore, yet is only minutes from the commercial and recreational outlets that you may need. Families will find the quiet, low-traffic non-commercial atmosphere relaxing, but you will appreciate how easy it is to drive to the grocery store, restaurants or a putt-putt course. The large multi-use path that parallels Old Oregon Inlet Road for its 4.5 mile length is great for running, biking, or walking. For the avid angler, Oregon Inlet Fishing Center is just a couple of miles south of Primrose Cottage along the gorgeous beaches of the undeveloped Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge. The fishing center has boat ramps and a full-service marina. Not to mention, the Outer Banks Fishing Pier with Fish Heads Bar & Grill is less than one mile from Primrose Cottage!

Primrose cottage

We very much enjoyed our stay here. The cottage was decorated nicely & had the best views of the ocean! The windows were all dirty & we cleaned the sliding glass door inside & out in order to see outside. The sand dune is a little high for someone to climb that to get to the ocean. All in all, it was a very time location to great restaurants plus we also cooked a couple of nights.

I loved this house. Right on beach closest I have ever been to The water. I have one suggestion and that would be to have a walking path to the door. It is very sandy of course. If a walkway was provided from where you park to the steps to to side door there would be lot less sand in the house. I loved the house. So cute and comfy.

Hello Linda, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Due to the unique location of the home, there will be an abundance of sand in a lot of the areas. The homeowners have replaced the furniture on the deck with similar furnishings to what is photographed. The home is quaint and cozy in size, making for great family memories. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Due to the unique location of the home, there will be a lot of sand accumulation along the exterior of the home. This unique location also offers the BEST views. The chance that the home may require 4WD in the driveway is disclosed in the description of the property, however, the roadway to the home is paved and accessible. The parking pad of the home itself may have sand accumulation at times. The homeowners are being proactive and looking into ways to help alleviate some of the sand in the parking area..

Some things that would have made the place perfect would be more comfortable mattresses and living room furniture. Being there in March we spent more time in the house than when we visit in the summer and the furniture in the living room was worn and not comfortable and the beds had very uncomfortable mattresses.

The Porch is the Selling Point

The porch was perfect- covered, with 4 high chairs to see the ocean over the railing and also a high table for 2. The interior of the cottage was more iffy. The 2 queen beds need to be replaced even though there were mattress toppers which made them bearable. The living room furniture was not overly comfortable either. The ice maker doesn’t work; one sink drain was very slow. Some of the interior is quite cute - original doorknobs, barn door, distressed kitchen table, but much of it is a bit junky. If you aren’t too picky about the interior but want to be right on the beach, then this cottage is for you!

We stayed in that cottage 3 or 4 years ago under a different realtor and it was a mess. Couple things. No hose under the house to rinse off our dogs paws etc .coming back from beach. Being a pet friendly cottage that would be one thing I recommend. Parking was very difficult due to all the sand that was on the driveway. Need a new grill as the one under the house was on its last legs. We did not use it for fear it might fall apart.

There is a lot of sand which can make parking a challenge. Cottage was clean upon arrival but we did find a dirty cooking pan in the toaster oven when we went to use it. The vacuum cleaner needs to be replaced. The handle comes off as you move it back and forth. The ice maker does not work. There are ice cubes trays to make ice. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would rent again.

Cool Cottage with a View

The cottage itself is clean and we had no issues other than one outlet not working. but was not an issue. The only negatives were that the mattresses are not comfortable. so we were looking forward to our beds at home. Other thing was we basically had a sand drift under the house from the previous bad weather.. not anyone's fault.. but really couldn't grill. Anyhow we had a great time.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This place is all about location. Right on the beach. You can't get a better location that's for sure. Even though this cottage is a bit smallish. We made it work with 6 people. We had a great, relaxing time. The place was clean and everything was in working order. The furniture in the cottage was not up to par however. The couch was as hard as a rock and the 2 wicker chairs were laughable. The only comfy chair was a swivel chair off to the side that we all fought for. For the price we paid to rent, a furniture update is overdue. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck until dusk...then the mosquitos came out. When the wind is blowing, it was ok...if not...you can't sit out there at all. Maybe a screened in porch is something that should be considered.

If you want to be right on the beach you can’t beat this place. Nothing between you and the ocean but sand. The decor fits this place and it feels very coastal. I liked the farmhouse touches was well. The house had everything we needed and was very well stocked. The furniture inside was comfy. I would have liked to see the outdoor furniture that is pictured on the deck, but it had been replaced with a wood bench and table with one chair. It is impossible to keep from tracking sand into the house. We kept a little tub with water next to the door to wash our feet. The house was reasonably clean when we arrived. There did seem to be a lot of hair and dirt in the corners of the living space. There was a used k-cup in the coffee maker and the previous renters had left thei

Beautiful views!

This beach house has gorgeous views! The location is great, close to the pier and good restaurants. The house was overall clean although it could definitely use a deep clean. The air filter has probably not been changed in years from the way it looked and many spots needed a deep clean. The coffee pot was brown which was unfortunate and there was no screen on the sliding glass door which was a bummer because it’s really nice to leave the door open and hear the ocean. We were able to leave it open the first couple of nights because there was a strong breeze but the last few nights there wasn’t and mosquitoes and flies came in. It would be great if they also fixed the bathroom window so it could be open and also had a gate at the top of the porch stairs to keep pets in. One of the most disappointing things about the place is the porch furniture or lack of it. There is only one high top chair so for the three of us we had to take turns using it. The furniture pictured on the listing is not there. That was a huge disappointment. But you can’t beat being right on the beach and it wasn’t crowded. A little TLC and the place could be great.

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house is very pretty. The view is great. Parking beyond sucks, do not believe the picture at all. The sand has covered the walkway and most of the driveway. This seems to be something no one knows how to fix. It is a long walk in soft sand especially if you have someone elderly or with mobility issues. The shower in the master bedroom is barely big enough to turn around in and is moldy. The ice maker is broken and there were no ice cube trays. We bought some and some decent glasses and left them for the next person. It is also the 1st house I've stayed in that didn't have ceiling fans in the bedrooms. It was like sleeping in a dehydrator because there was no air movement. This could be a great house if the parking was better and it had ceiling fans.

Reviewer Comments: Primrose Cottage is a beautiful little cottage, in a great location, however it was clear the property management company is unaware how poor of a job the cleaning staff is doing. We had filled out the arrival questionnaire and advised how bad the cleanliness of the cottage was. Upon arrival to the house, there were the used linen bags that contained dirty / used bedsheets, and dirty towels. These bags were left next to the grill and they were never removed throughout the week. We understand that the nature of a beach front rental is sand to be expected. The amount of sand was obscured. There were larger amounts of sand located in the room with the bunk bed and living room that we were able to swept up in the amount of a few shovel amounts. -There was a lot of dried dog nose and tongue slobber dried on the sliding glass doors. They windows were definitely not cleaned. -Overall the kitchen was clean, but there was black dog hair and sand in the silverware organizer in the kitchen drawers. -The bathroom sinks and showers and toilets were clean. -There was tons of black dog fur everywhere. Easily spotted under furniture, balls of fur in the corners of ever room, also found on on bedside tables. -We found chewed and half eaten cookies in the nightstand in the main bedroom.-There were two loose prescription pills on the floor in the living room. -We found a previous tenant's prescription medicine bottle on bathroom floor.-There were dirty socks under bed in the bedroom with the washer and dryer.-There was trash was found under the main bedroom bed. -There was used personal care items under the bunk beds. -The bunk bedroom had hardware (screws and bolts)loose on the lower bunk beds.-The top blankets were stained. -The carpets were urine stained.-The washing machine ring was full of mold-In the rental pictures, there were multiple seats on the deck. Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall it was a good experience. The house was well cleaned prior to our arrival. The views are wonderful. The only things I would mention are the tv choices. It would be nice to just have regular tv that we can watch and not have to enter things such as account numbers and passwords for various devices. Not everyone has premium service accounts as well as not wanting to leave a trail for future guests. Especially nowadays with hacking and all on the rise. Also we did not have the HVAC unit for most of our stay. I did report it and told the guy (Tray) that the weather was nice and they could look at it after we left. Last the freezer door handle on the bottom of the fridge is broken. I reported that also. Last I saw it was mentioned in the guest book but the mattresses are hard as a rock and not all that comfortable. But we got the cottage for the view and that was worth it all.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house is a great location, but is in need of some serious upgrading. As it is right now I would not probably rent again. The following are my concerns:1. The outside shower needs new fixtures2. The living room is is passable but could be upgraded.3. Many wall receptacles been to be secured to the walls.4.kitchen items are sparse. Not much silverware and there are only 2 actual water glasses. 5. Mattresses need replaced, especially in the 3rd bedroom. 6. Master bathroom shower fixtures need replaced and cleaned of mold.7. Refrigerator handle needs attached.8. Bedroom lamps are old and need replaced.9. Cleanliness of the house needs addressed.This house could really be a nice place, and overall, we enjoyed our stay, but it is obvious that the photos online were shot right after an upgrade. I realize rentals take how some hard use, especially at the end of the season, but I had hoped for more. When it comes to location this house has it all!

Wonderful view and location

The house needs to have a little more storage in the kitchen and the living room carpet is very dirty but the rest of the house was great. The view from the deck is spectacular and the furniture on the deck is nice.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location was great. The deck and views were spectacular. The place was very clean. The color scheme was very nice. The kitchen provisions were lacking. Not enough of a pot/pan selection, drinking glasses or cooking utensils. Every surface was covered in some sort of knick-knack so there was little space to place our items during our stay.The throw pillows were too much. Every single piece of furniture had an overabundance of throw pillows. We had to pile them all on the twin top bunk. They also appeared to be in need of deep cleaning. The couch was horrid. It only sat 2 people. You could not stretch out on it to take a nap or watch tv as there was a 2x4 in the center that made it impossible to relax on. It’s 2 end pieces screwed together. The 2 rattan chairs were very uncomfortable. The club chair was the only comfortable seat in the whole house. Parking was very challenging. We could not have gotten to it if we did not have 4-wheel drive. The child gate on the deck is broken and could not be used to secure pets or children from the stairs. Throw it away. The internet was not functional so the tv's were useless. We made it all work. We enjoyed our visit. Please consider adding a clock to one of walls in the kitchen or living area. our visit. I would not rent this again.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a perfect week at Primrose Cottage! The cottage was clean upon check in and everything in working order. New deck chairs which we utilized every day enjoying the OUTSTANDING views! The only suggestion to the owners would be to add a wooden cutting board and full length door mirror. My only complaint is that we had to go home. I would definitely rent this cottage again. Thank you for sharing your home.
