Family vacation

Property is in a great location and the house was beautiful. Cleaning could definitely use some work. Picnic bench was broken and the walkway to beach definitely could use some TLC but overall the house is very nice and well stocked.

Big Blue (formerly Sand Box I)!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house had the BEST stocked kitchen we have ever experienced at a beach rental - and we have all been renting here and there for 40+ years - KUDOS! The house was clean and nicely decorated as well - the location was excellent! It is possible it needs a bit of an overhaul for paint and flooring finishes - otherwise - it was just what we needed! We certainly enjoyed it!

Beach Week 2024

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house and particularly the kitchen were excellent! The only constructive suggestion would be that the board walk to the beach could use some updating. We had 3 incidents of splinters in feet, one requiring a visit to Urgent Care to get the inch long splinter fully removed.We did lose AC for a period of time, but the response by Beach Realty,Greg and Jerry in particular, was super.

Friends Trip 2024

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Moldy ice maker, cockroaches in the home, sand all over basement even on raised surfaces. 3 bedrooms on middle level all on one switch for lights/fans. Middle level ac not effective. No trash bins, had to walk trash to dumpster at the end of the driveway with every full bag even after complaint. Great location, pool, and kitchen. Will not stay again.

Due to the size of the homes along this stretch, private dumpsters are utilized to ensure there enough space for refuse. Other than this call, we cannot find any communication about the other items listed above, that we would have been able to address quickly, however, they will be addressed going forward. We encourage communication while you're here so we can address actionable items.

VACAY 2024 at Blue Wave

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: House was in a good location. Could use a little updating on a few things. Called 1st day to report 2 lighbulbs out above showers, and no outdoor lighting around the pool. Ended up putting our own light bulbs in to see to shower as maintenance never showed. Needless to say they never came for the outdoor lighting which was a major concern considering we had 4 kids that loved swimming at night. Bedroom doorknob was falling off so again we repaired ourselves, stove top was less than desirable took forever to cook anything. There were adult sex toys left in a bedroom dresser drawer that one of the kids found while putting their clothes away. Needless to say they are still there we DID NOT touch those. How disgusting that was.

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall the house is beautiful. However, we were told by our cleaning people when we got there- right off the bat- said the company forgot about our rental and got there AFTER 3pm and for this big of house, it does not only take a couple hours to clean (we finally got in at 615)!!! And it showed! The house was FILTHY! My son had white socks on and by a few hours of being in the house they were black from the floors! So we had to do our own cleaning! DISGUSTING! The ice maker in the basement can only be used for coolers- don’t use it for drinks as it was filthy! There is also mold on the wooden windows. So- we were not happy with the cleanliness and overall poor communication to get the cleaning crew out there! I would not recommend this property/company due to the lack of communication and cleanliness

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall, disappointed. For the cost, which was nearly $20k for the week, I would have expected a functioning hot tub (it took 4 days to fix), a clean pool (they didn’t have it on the schedule) and responsive management (see above). There were safety issues, including loose balcony railing that presented a real danger to young children until repaired on day 3. The dune crossing is badly deteriorated as we’re other wooden structures with exposed and rusted nails. Minor issue, the worst dishwasher I have ever used. Second minor issue, expect to be up very early, where there are shades or blinds they don’t block much light. Elevator didn’t work, but no bid deal since you don’t have access to enter on the ground floor anyway. So even with functioning elevator you still have stairs to climb when brining in groceries and luggage. Some pillows were covered in mildew beneath the pillow cases so we had to buy new pillows at target. The good - decent layout. Adequate kitchen, good sized pool, an adequate grill (and another that is disgusting). Ample parking. Large but dates bathrooms.

Specifically, the deck railing was inspected by an engineer and was determined it did not pose an issue at that time. Regarding the comment about the elevator, this home does not have an elevator? Stay in Blu Wave

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our vacation rental got off to a bad start as the home wasn't ready at 6pm. We did receive a text stating some more cleaning had to be done. By 6:30 we still had not heard a thing and I ended up going into the home and inquiring how much longer to expect. The cleaners said they had just finished cleaning the things on our list to be done. At that point I let them know we had not been in the house or given a list of things to do. Their response was "That's interesting". I believe the inspector came through and didn't like what was done and instead of telling them the issue they were told it was the renters that had complained. So yes a bad start. Later the kids went to open the hot tub and found a note stating that the pool had a leak, and we would need to add water daily. I understand that things happen but believe this information could have been delivered with a text and not a note we might have never seen. The house was big enough for our group of 11 and in a great location to explore the Outer Banks. The kitchen had plenty of dishes, etc. One thing we loved was the table was plenty of space for all of us. Often the houses for bigger groups don't have that. I believe that the walkway to the beach is going to be replaced as someone was doing some measuring while we were there. It is definitely need as many of our group experienced splinters. We as a family of 11 have enjoyed stays in large homes at both Cape Cod and Hilton Head. This home did not measure up to them at all. I understand the difficulty of getting staff to take care of the homes and we did tip our cleaners as they were working hard, but it was not as clean we would like.That being said we enjoyed our family time together. The house doesn't make the vacation. The people you are vacationing with do. So I can say we had a great time in this house.
