Once you stay at Summer Dream, you'll be dreaming of the Outer Banks all year long. This vacation retreat is stocked with everything needed for a memorable experience. The upper level has beautiful hardwood flooring, comfy furnishings, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances along with ample dining room seating. Step out onto the furnished sun deck, breath in the salty ocean air and enjoy your coffee or cocktails. The mid level features five bedrooms including a king master suite with Jacuzzi tub. On the lower level, the kids can enjoy a game of foosball or watch a movie on the flat screen TV in the rec room. There's also a convenient kitchenette complete with microwave and mini-fridge. A multi disc CD player is connected to inside and outside speakers. Outside, the private pool with pool heat option, and the hot tub will be family favorites. The poolside pergolas offer shade from the warm summer sun. The kids and four-legged family members will have fun in the spacious backyard.

Summer Dream is located in the desirable community of Whalehead Beach. Enjoy the short walk to the beach, check out some of the many shops and restaurants and visit the northern beach attractions including the Whalehead Club, Currituck Beach Lighthouse, Center for Wildlife Education, Corolla Village and the Corolla Wild Horses.

Great house but plan ahead if you want to go anywhere!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great family vacation despite Mother Nature trying to ruin it. Housekeeping could’ve done a better job cleaning ahead of our arrival. Dirty floor on first level and food splatter in microwave but not too bad overall. Plenty of room to stretch out. Grill is just fine without worrying about propane! Pool and hot tub are very nice to relax by. Traffic on that part of 12 is horrible though!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed in this home early of September of 2022, the home was very well maintained. Plenty of amenities to be used for both house and pool. Pool was cleaned multiple times over the week. Yard was mowed. Overall the home was clean, the only issue we had was a lot of dust and build up around the air returns and vents. Obviously with these being ceiling registers you don’t clean around them every clean, but these looked as if they hadn’t been wiped down in 2 months or so. Other than being picky about the registers this home is a VERY pleasurable stay close to the grocery store and Wings. Highly recommend

VACATION NIGHTMARE!!!

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very unhappy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We arrived last saturday June 3 and found out lost power on our rental Sweet and Salty and instead of trying to fix it call the power company like it states in your add on every refrigerator in your rentals. Instead make us pick from two rentals at no comparison to our original rental. We had rented a jeep for the dunes had passes to ride the beach. Wild horses and ocean as a beautiful. They told us these two houses in a little suburb with or there is a little speck of ocean on the top floor. If we didn't pick one of these houses we could go home! I wonder how many other people got screwed over by this company?

Lots to Celebrate; Few Suggestions for Improvement

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family and I enjoyed a wonderful week at the Summer Dream house. We were most pleased with the location, well-stocked and organized kitchen, proximity to light shopping, and the availability of an awesome pool on the property. We also were thrilled with all of the opportunities to sit on the decks around the house. There are always sunny spots and shady spots, which is lovely. We were so thankful to not need to bring a beach cart, sand toys, or pool noodles. Also, the book and game selection is outstanding! Be sure to read the house binder - lots of great info about the house in there. We appreciated having a home that was dog-friendly, but didn't have tons of pet hair! Great job there! One point of pause was around the air quality in the home, though. If you have pet allergies, be aware that the air-borne allergens are prevalent (we had a doodle and a poodle with, so a couple of family members were less used to the allergen factor). In spite of our nightly cleaning, we noticed a new layer of doggy dust and dander settled on surfaces by morning. This is not at all unusual in houses with dogs, so it's no fault of anyone. We just suggest a regular changing of all of the filters in the house and the use of HEPA systems, since it seems that the homeowners are making beautiful upgrades already. The only other minor factors worth mentioning are that the mattress in the lower king bedroom is an older spring mattress and takes a little getting used to and the WiFi is challenging, at times (the parent in me loved that as a way to enforce less screen time, though).All in all, we LOVED our stay, highly recommend Summer Dream, and can't wait to see the upgrades to this house that will come in time. It's already a gem!

Property has potential

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The concept of this property is great. Distance to the beach- perfect. Layout to accommodate three adult couples- perfect. Pool on property- perfect. Overall, the property could use a spiffing up as everything is just slightly past out of date and a little tired. The pool area is lovely but offers no option for shade. Our biggest disappointment was the effort to get in to the property and the wi-fi issues upon arrival. Property wasn't ready until 5:50- although within the promised time limits, we arrived at the house to discover the property inspector sitting in the driveway. The property had not been cleaned yet. Previous tenants had not emptied their trash throughout the week so the property literally reeked of seafood boil remains- YUCK! Fortunately, the cleaning crew arrived and had things tidied up in about 45 minutes. (It is worth noting that we appreciate the fact that the inspector was there to handle the issue) Unfortunately, the odor remained for quite a while (ended up boiling an entire bottle of vinegar to abate the smell). The second frustration was the wi-fi password. Posted information was not accurate. When I contacted the property management company I was informed that I'd have to wait until the next morning. In this day and age, this is unacceptable. The next day I went to the rental office where the manager was able to provide the password. I've owned resort property in the past and was expected to be available to respond to management company inquiries. For the rate charged, we expected more. Overall, I'd rate this property a 7out of 10.

Nice, large, but older home

Reviewer Comments: Summer Dream was nice and large and had everything we needed to enjoy the week, but the home was a little outdated and could use some updates. The furniture was a bit outdated and some items were in need of minor repair. It was clean and the kitchen was well stocked with cooking and eating utensils. This home has a lot of bedrooms and extra sleeping areas, but most rooms had shared bathrooms. It was in a good location in Whalehead and only about 5 min walk to the beach. Overall we enjoyed our stay and if you don't mind a little older, traditional decorating style, it's not a bad place to stay.

Perfect Setting

This property was perfect for our family of 10 (ages 6mo - 87). Plenty of space to spread out and do our own thing, and large enough for everyone to sit around the table and have a big dinner. Close enough to the beach to walk, wifi was good, tv cable selections good, lots of puzzles and games to play. An excellent choice!

Family Friendly Beach Oasis

We loved our stay at summer dream! The property was a quick walk to the beach and the private pool was amazing. The rooms came with fresh linens and towels which made our stay a bit easier. We would recommend staying at this house with a large family! We brought our 3 kids under 3 and they loved it.

A Solid Choice

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our first Outer Banks visit. With that in mind, this house was a decent choice. Great location on the northern end of OBX, close to the beach and some stores, food, etc. If you are looking for a quiet, laid-back place to vacation, this is a solid choice.Bedrooms on multiple levels allowed for separation. Spacious dining/living area for gathering on the top floor. Sufficient kitchen. Lot of exterior deck space. The pool was great. The hot tub needed a little attention which is received mid-week. The property management company was legit - excellent communication both pre and during visit, although we had no need to interreact with them once on property.This house has clearly been put to work with visitors, so there are few things items that could use some maintenance TLC, but nothing worth noting here.My guess is there may be nicer places, but you will pay for the nicer space. And, I am sure you can save a few bucks, but you won't have as nice of place - this was a good value and we would stay here again if we return to this area again.In sum, this is a solid choice, a legitimate effort and it served our family of 13 people, including 3 kids under 5, well. We trusted the property management company, but never directly spoke with them - which was a plus for us.
