Forgotten Valley Country Retreat is in a lovely location and setting with a lot of potential to be an excellent holiday and function facility, and with proper maintenance, better cleaning standards and a different mindset it would be. The location is great, the amount of space across the three cabins is also great, and the facilities that are there (as compared with what are claimed to be there) are really good for a family gathering. The young children in our group really enjoyed the gardens, ponds and the wildlife that visited us. Note that several aspects of the property were not at all as described. There is no pizza oven. There is no hot tub (an indoor bath with jets is not a hot tub). The facilities in terms of the buildings are in desperate need of better maintenance. There are clear safety issues such as DIY tiling works with sharp pieces of metal sticking out in shower cubicles, holes in walls exposing live power cable, a rope swing that had been "repaired" with gaffer tape that broke with a six year old sitting on it, and many more. There are also a large number of "workarounds" with Bunnings lights setup in place of failed light fittings, and things that simply don't work across each of the cabins. During out stay, two out of three dishwashers were broken and one had been broken for so long that a strong stagnant water smell was coming from the surrounding cupboards. The lack of upkeep means visits have a negative experience, but the problem could so easily be fi
