The listing said it sleeps 12. We booked it for the wedding party for my daughter’s wedding. There was only 1 working shower, as the downstairs shower didn’t even turn on. One bathroom missing a doorknob, causing guests to continually get trapped in the bathroom. Checkin was very difficult - 10 keys in the box with no label…what opens what…thought it was a prank. Pool table was the only saving feature of our stay, aside from the riverfront scene.

The property was as described—I didn’t read closely—no dishwasher and not listed in amenities ( referenced in email check out process) my fault and took daughters back to older days—no a/c but fans that worked for night and fortunately spent most days away from rental. With minor exceptions the house worked well for what we needed (6 bedroom and game room—grill. Be sure to bring all food supplies—store across the street limited supplies and more limited hours of operation

Really enjoyed the property, location was located close to the store and easy to find, great customer service and quick response by the property owners, we plan to stay again because there was plenty of room for everyone. We had a great time.

The supposed game room was an old dirty garage with a rock floor and a lot of dirty items. We locked it up and didn’t use it. No dishwasher as advertised. Dining table is worn and the dining bench is broken. Quite drafty but very historical. Outside grounds need grass because of the mud and a perimeter fence by the river for safety. Could be cute with a few improvements.

Great place for a family or friend reunion. Our family stayed here and thoroughly enjoyed that the property had activities for the kids (the game barn is great!) and adults alike. The fire pit is a great place to hang and listen to the river. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The kitchen and multiple grills were perfect for feeding a crowd.

This house has lots of character. There were plenty of games for the kids to play with, and even a piano. We had a lovely stay.

Fun Escape

A small family vacation with three generations under one roof! The host was super-communicative and very accommodating and the house was perfect for seven adults and a todddler. There were SO MANY toys for the 2-year-old as well as a game room full of fun for the adults. Nice, quiet location within a short drive to so many sights. Having the whole house gave everyone their choice of room and sleeping arrangements as well. Highly recommended stay!

Stayed here as a family during my daughter’s wedding weekend. Fantastic home with plenty of space for all of us - 7 in total. Everyone’s favorite spot was having coffee by the river in the morning and watching the big horn sheep across the road. There’s a great hiking trail just a short walk down the road that was delightful as well. Several super cool antiques in the home as well. Kitchen had everything we needed, beds were comfortable and we had a great stay!

Lovely place!!

My family absolutely loves this place! The property is perfectly situated right on the river, which made our stay extra special. We had everything we needed, and everything worked seamlessly—no issues at all. The home is well-equipped and thoughtfully prepared for a comfortable stay. Some of our favorite memories were made around the fire pit—such a cozy and unforgettable experience. We will definitely be back!

Fun family getaway!

We stayed with two families with young kids. We had a fun time fishing and picnicking at Vallie Bridge, playing in Salida, and making s’mores and pizza at the house. The playground set was awesome and entertained the kids for hours. If your kids need a fenced yard to be safe it might not be the right choice, as the river and road are nearby.

We had mixed feelings about our stay. The owner greeted us upon arrival and was very kind and apologetic. He explained that their cleaning person had not shown up before our arrival, and we appreciated his honesty. His son also graciously offered compensation, which we truly appreciated. (We haven’t heard back about how much they will compensate or when we will receive it)Unfortunately, the condition of the property did not match the listing photos or our expectations. When we arrived, there was a strong unpleasant odor throughout the home. We found hair in the drains, stained bedding that we ended up washing ourselves, door handles that did not function properly, and even dead mice in traps. The home also needed much more general cleaning and maintenance than we expected due to bugs, etc.Because we had already rearranged our work schedules and traveled to spend time with our family, we chose to stay rather than relocate. During our stay, we rewashed all of the bedding, scrubbed surfaces, cleaned throughout the home, and even picked up trash outside. We genuinely left the property in better condition than we found it.We appreciated the kindness and communication from the owner and his family, but we hope the property receives the attention it needs before future guests arrive. With a thorough deep cleaning, regular maintenance, and updated photos that accurately reflect the property’s current condition, this could be a much better experience for future visitors.

Ramiro was a kind and generous host. He responded to all my questions and made us feel welcome at his property. It felt like we were staying with a friend. The property is dated but very comfortable and the fire pit by the river is amazing.

Although the house at Cotopaxi could be charming if it were better kept, there are a number of issues that need to be addressed that caused us to leave a day early. There is no knob on the inside of the bathroom door and the door is difficult to open. A child could easily become trapped there, and the light sparks when you turn it on--a clear fire hazard. We had no idea there would be no air conditioning. The upstairs bedrooms were overwhelmingly hot. This lack should be mentioned more prominently. Perhaps a window unit for each room?The photos on the site lead a person to believe that the river is easily accessible, when, in fact, there is no safe way to get there. It is lovely and scenic, but we would have preferred to be closer.Both the front door and the door between the kitchen and back room are extremely difficult to open. The doors themselves need to be repaired and the doorknobs replaced. Many of the non-stick pans are peeling and chipped and should be replaced.There is no dishwasher. A problem with a large group.The game room needs to be cleaned and organized.The plumbing has been poorly repaired with duct tape.There should be a handrail on the stairs.Some of the outside furniture is broken and should be replaced.The mattress in the crib needs to be replaced. The sheets in the downstairs bedroom need to be replaced.There are no hooks anywhere in the house. Only two small towel racks, one of which falls off at the slightest touch.

Great Place!

Not secluded but appreciated the property location on the river. The gas station across the road was very convenient for last minute things that we forgot. The house was a great set up - everyone had their own room and space. The patio was perfect with two grills and a gorgeous setting. The barn was awesome - the kids played pool, cards, corn hole etc.

Fantastic getaway

We came for Christmas to meet family. The house was wonderful. The property management was very responsive and even set up a Christmas tree and lights for us! We had plenty of room, and the space was great for a large family. The river and the location. Of the home was also amazing. We had a great experience and highly recommend this property!!!! We’ll be back!
