Below this description is a special offer and a rental stipulation. First, enjoy these thoughts:
At elevation 9,300, enjoy a wide, jaw-dropping view of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, snowcapped during much of the year. The wind sings through the pines and wildlife abounds. No mosquitos, just hummingbirds (seasonal)! We provide lots of info about fun places and experiences within striking distance. In the cabin is an eclectic collection of music, decor, games, puzzles, and books - much of that with an Old West theme.
It is not difficult to imagine being alone at the top of the world in the cabin, although there are neighbors several acres away. Eagle Vista is a solidly built, old-style cabin with glowing honey pine throughout. Luxuriously and comfortably rustic! It is a work of Western art unto itself, with Western art on display inside, interesting and unique items down to almost every lamp and hook. It's just plain fun to see and experience! The six acres surrounding the cabin are a classic mountain combination of pines, sage, and beautiful boulders.
More description below, but first these things:
One Additional Free Night Sunday-Tuesday
We make that offer to anyone booking with us, not including nominal fees required by VRBO. FIRST, please send a message to us about the dates. We will then work with you on booking to ensure a free additional night.
Two Guest Reviews Required
The cabin is special to us, and a mountain cabin is unique in several ways. This is why need to feel assured about everyone who visits. We require potential guests to have at least two positive VRBO reviews after visits to other properties. There can be exceptions to the policy if you are willing to answer some questions and agree with rules noted in the house manual, which we will provide. If you send a booking request before communicating with us about this, or if unwilling to answer questions, it will be your responsibility to cancel the request.
Now, on with the cabin description!
Please note that the second and third "bedrooms" in the loft are not officially separate rooms. Elsewhere in the listing we refer to them as "sleeping spaces." There is a partial divider wall. It feels cozy and private enough for family and friends. The fourth "bedroom" (sleeping space) is the pull-out sofa in the living room, a comfy queen size.
HOUSE MANUAL
We will share a keypad code and a detailed house manual 2-3 days before you arrive at Eagle Vista. A cabin experience is much different than city apartments and houses. We will share guidelines for safety and security, helpful tips about things in and around the cabin, and a lengthy "fun stuff" list of places and activities in the area. All this is our way of helping you be fully informed, assured, safe, and entertained for the best possible experience.
A few key things noted in our House Manual but helpful to emphasize up front:
- Absolutely and strictly no smoking inside.
- No outdoor fires due to wildfire danger (but there is a propane fire ring for your enjoyment).
- Two pets are welcome if they weigh under 80 pounds each, are housebroken, and never chew on or scratch things. Pets cannot be off-leash outside (safer for them and wildlife), and they cannot be left alone in the cabin unless in a closed kennel. We have a large kennel to loan if needed.
We have discount partnerships for guests interested in river rafting, fishing, and ziplines. Explore that far in advance.
