Gorgeous 2 bed apt with loads of living space and a 10 min drive to all of St. Louis' attractions. The Farmhouse is super close to the area hospitals and St. Louis University. You will find everything you need for a short or extended stay. It is set up for work or play. Enjoy our super comfy king sized and queen sized mattresses to rest.
I love a place that has the things I didn't remember to bring. Let's face it...no one wants to buy salt and pepper or a huge jar of spices for a short stay. We have tried to think of everything, but if we missed something, let us know and we will get more stuff to make the next guest's stay even better.
We love furry friends and have five in our home. We welcome pets if you clear your pet's visit with us first. We charge an additional $25 per pet fee for pets. We also ask that you clean up after your pet's unique mess.
All guests have access to the entire apartment including kitchen, living area, dining room, porch and bedroom which are super spacious.
We are available through the your booking app for any issues that arise during your stay. We have staff nearby and we live nearby if you need us.
Until I experienced St. Louis, I never would have known what a delightful cultural hub it has become. There is so much to see, I still haven't covered all of the attractions. Making your stay even more enjoyable, Saint Louis is a foodie haven. We are super close to the area hospitals and St. Louis University which is just around the corner.
There is lots of public transport in St. Louis and Ubers a plenty. If I were visiting, I would Uber everywhere.
There are also lots of buses and a trolley that goes from the city to the Central West End.
If you prefer to rent a car, there is plenty of space to park on Lafayette.
We had a great time!! Extra thoughtful items available for guests use (bathroom). Enough towels and toiletries. Convenient location for exploring St. Louis. I would definitely stay here again.
I had difficulty locating the check-in instructions because I assumed it would be from VRBO. Loved staying in such a historic building, but it did have an interesting smell. Would stay here again, so much space for an affordable price and walkable neighborhood.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Urban Farmhouse. Everything was just as described and the host was especially helpful. We ran into a couple tiny issues that were resolved immediately. There were tornado warnings while we were there and the host made sure we knew how to get into the basement. The location was perfect and close to everything. Beds and beddings were comfortable. We especially loved the front porch! We would definitely book again when in the St. Louis area.
We enjoy the Tower Grove area every time we come to St. Louis to visit family.
Just a couple of suggestions, please provide hangers in the closets and laundry detergent so we could wash the towels since they only provide one per person for the whole stay. Also, the TV and internet reception was so slow. But overall we really liked this apartment and the location.
Great location for our weekend getaway while attending the Evolution festival! The apartment was clean and secure. The only reason I'm rating with 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the lack of contact from the property manager when we could not get the TV to work. Thankfully, it was only about the TV not working and nothing more serious because she didn't respond to any messages sent over the weekend.
The freeway was right next to us and the furnace was loud. Iâm a light sleeper so that is why it bothered me :) Great otherwise. We had an issue but was addressed in a timely matter.
We stayed at this location while visiting family. Check in and access was very easy. The propery is very pretty. The beds and pillows were really hard. Although there was AC the rooms got really hot at night. The company was very responsive, showing excellent communication at first. But we lost power due to a storm and when I reached out, asking about candles or flashlights they never responded. The building is super old so you can hear the floors squeak when you walk around and when the unit above you moves around but the conpany provides ear plugs which is nice for sleeping.
I can't say enough good things about the Urban Retreat. As first time visitors to St. Louis, the last thing my husband and I wanted was to stay in a bad neighborhood where we would feel unsafe. This property is not only in a nice part of town, but it's extra secure with codes to access the main building as well as the individual units.
The home was clean and quiet, and everything was in perfect working order. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the sheets were unbelievably soft. The hosts also thought of literally everything a guest could possibly need - towels, toiletries, spices, and even ear plugs! We didn't travel with children, but I also loved that there were a few small toys as well as board games and puzzles available to be used.
The location was super convenient. We had no more than a 15 minute drive to anywhere we wanted to see in St. Louis, and there were plenty of dining and grocery options nearby.
I truly don't have a single negative thing to say about this property. I would 100% stay again.
This place is very accurately depicted in the photos. The only difference is that it is much larger in person! My daughter and I stayed here as she recouped from surgery (she's a SLU student). It was very close to campus and STL parks and restaurants. It is located next to the expressway and it was very kind of the owners to leave earplugs on the nightstand. They were not needed though. The sound was more like white noise and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The kitchen had necessary supplies and was on the smaller size. As stated in the description, it is a very old building, but that is part of the character. I was worried about street parking but I should not have been. It is in a safe area with lots of parking.
We booked a trip about three months ago and had to change the dates right away, but never heard back regarding the date change. When we got there, I let the owners know right away that there was a water leak with their HVAC, that potentially save them a lot of money and water damage. But then asked for any kind of compensation with being out of air-conditioning for a day and having to leave our dog there in the heat I was met with push back and no understanding. The Wi-Fi never worked, and after reaching out to whoever it was over email, they kept giving me pushback and weâre not accommodating at all or understanding. Also when the repair guy showed up, completely scared and startled my wife and child, who was there getting ready for a wedding. Not quite how I do business or at the very least how I treat people⊠Iâm pretty disappointed.
This property is a gem! Clean, spacious, and wonderful porch space. Host was prompt to reply and great to work with. Weâd definitely consider staying here again on future trips to St. Louis.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Saint Louis. The apartment is spacious, rooms are large and the beds comfy. You may need to use the ear plugs (we didn't) but that's no secret. Street parking was always available right outside of the apartment. Great location to head anywhere in and around STL.
Charming house that had everything we needed. We visited during a heat wave. Owner even let us leave our food past checkout so it wouldnât get too hot in the car!
Wonderful architectural features of this older building. Very nicely decorated and the provided toiletries and amenities were much appreciated. We loved the enclosed porch with the windows all around. It was my granddaughter's favorite spot! We enjoyed the beautiful park nearby and restaurants. We were in St. Louis for a family wedding and it was a perfect place for us to stay and to also retreat to with the baby for a nap or early evening. We would certainly stay again should the need arise!
The Marquette Building is owned by City Castle LLC operated by Lisa Gallagher and Devon Rucker. We bought the building from Jim Roos of Neighborhood Enterprises. Jim had a long history of working with the city to improve St. Louis City neighborhoods. Like many cities, it suffered through a period of suburban flight leaving the city without the tax base and investment to keep the city vibrant. When we took over the building in 2016, the area was just seeing signs of true investment and diversity. This is my favorite building in my portfolio. Totaling 12 units, the apartment building was the 4th 3 story building in the area. One other 3 story building built by the same builder is the Lafayette which sits opposite the Marquette Building. The St. Louis Daily Globe penned an article, dated December 8 1812, chronicling the building's ground breaking. The building's construction cost a whopping $30,000 back then which was considered to be a tidy sum.
Immediately after the 3 bedroom apartment now known as The Retreat became vacant, Lisa went about creating a variable stay rental with furnishings acquired in antique shops and from other sources in the area. Since Lisa is a world traveler, she loves the experience of meeting and knowing people from all over the world. She feels that world travel is a humbling and mind opening experience that offers the greatest opportunity for world peace.
When Lisa initially heard about The Marquette Building, she was looking for larger apartment buildings to acquire in St. Louis. She already had several four family, duplex and single family homes. Lisa was excited about The Marquette Building's architecture and potential since the previous owner had only partially renovated the building prior to sale.
Staying at The Marquette Building offers a guest an opportunity to experience an over 100 year old building that is typical of St. Louis City. The buidling is conveniently located in the heart of the city close to Downtown, The Central West End, Botanical Heights, Forest Park, Tower Grove Park and all of St. Louis' attractions. It is a 10 minute commute to almost any city attraction.
