Beachfront Bliss - Mackerel Beach, right on the sand with spectacular views
Sundowners on the deck or by our boat-house on the beach are essential - taking in spectacular views across Pittwater to Broken Bay - with the perfect north-east aspect cool in summer warm in winter...
Bliss is one of the very few holiday rentals at Mackerel with solar-power. Combine this with our rainwater tanks for the house's water supply and you have a very eco-friendly holiday.
"Bliss" was the original name given to the house when Mr & Mrs Anderson built it in 1961 on one of the best blocks at Mackerel Beach right on your (almost) private beach and with one of only 2 boat-sheds at Mackerel. Sit anywhere in the wonderful garden or hide away on the private deck off the almost self contained Parent's retreat.
The boat-shed is very multipurpose has its own home gym, water craft, kayaks, stand up paddle boards and that all important fridge for a beach picnic and/or cocktails. The boat-shed also has the best work space with a screen and spectacular views of Pittwater while you work! Take a quick dip between Zoom meetings!
Amazing views! The house is old school whimsical and comfortable. The quirky art, record player with a wonderful array of vinyl to choose from, coffee machines, a boat shed with all the toys. We were 3 adults and 3 children and was a perfect set up for us. A relaxed and kind community, we loved it. The hosts were great communicators.
A great location with direct beach access, and views from the deck that never get boring. The house was cozy and had everything you need to have an enjoyable getaway for both adults and kids. The hosts were super helpful and went out of their way to ensure we had a perfect stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed our Easter long weekend at Bliss. Amazing views from the property and direct access to the beach was appreciated by all. Relaxing for the grown ups and plenty of things to keep the tweens active and entertained.
Mark was so helpful in both preparation for our getaway, and during the entirety of our stay. Everything was thought of and catered for, down to the extra firewood for the unexpected cold weather.
Thank you Mark and Geoff for sharing this special haven with the world. Communication from Mark was excellent and the property did not disappoint one bit. Superb views, a cosy interior, a hit of a kitchen and some very kind personal touches! We loved exploring the vinyl collection and lazing by the fireplace. The location offers much opportunity for spending wholesome days outside, and then the technological luxuries to keep a teenager happy. Weâll be back!
Weâd love to keep this property a secret from everyone else so that we can go back whenever we like, & not have to share it!!
On arrival, the beach front location & meticulously cared for gardens are impressive. The house itself is a funky little 60s style beach house that has been loving cared for & thoughtfully decorated to create an inviting, comfortable & interesting space to enjoy. The home is well presented with comfy beds made up in lovely linens and is clean & tidy throughout.
Most of our evenings ended with enjoying the expansive water views from the top deck while becoming acquainted with the ownersâ record collection. The views are ever changing, that even on rainy summer days, playing cards at the dining table didnât feel wasteful of holiday time. On sunny days we (a family of 5) set up camp under the shady frangipani trees & took full advantage of the inflatables & kayaks. The hosts were also accomodating to allow us to bring our dog on holiday & she too enjoyed beach walks & socialising with the other dogs during off leash beach hours.
The house had everything we needed to enjoy an easy going, comfortable stay. We only ventured across the river once on the ferry to replenish supplies & have lunch out, because we were having too much fun relaxing & exploring Mackeral Beach.
Also, the hosts were available for any questions, prompt with communication, have great local knowledge & suggestions for bush walks. We had a wonderful week at Beachfront Bliss & will definitely come back again! Thank you Mark & Geoff for sharing your property with our family.
We were completely charmed by our long weekend at Bliss. Clean, comfortable, plenty to do and with a stunning view. We even watched a pod of dolphins frolicking while at the table eating lunch! Just wonderful
Thank you Mark & Geoff for allowing us experience your little secret paradise - what Bliss!
It was so easy to book with you - your communication and care to make sure we had everything in place for a relaxing break was incredible. The house was well stocked, clean, and had everything we needed - a special touch was the beach towels there for us to use..it's great not to have to lug extra towels around!
We caught the barge straight to the front of the house, which made it super easy with all our gear for the stay.
You can't tire of that spectacular view .. we lived on the deck.. a highlight was sunsets drinks enjoying that view. The boat shed, right on the beach was great. We loved using the kayaks, the boys used the weights, and we'd set up the deck chairs right on the beach, and enjoy drinks from the bar fridge right there.. just perfect!
We had planned a few meals back on the mainland, but once we were there and settled in, it was just too divine, that we didn't leave! A sign of a perfect holiday! We loved our stay and will be back. Thank you - what Absolute Bliss!
Geoff and I have had a house at Great Mackerel Beach for the last 20 years and we have always used it as our sanctuary. In 2017 our current house came up for sale and we could not resist - it was built in 1961 by Mr & Mrs Anderson and we bought it off the family and have been restoring it ever since!
We love to travel and we are looking forward to sharing our little bit of paradise with people.
The Anderson's called this house "Bliss" and when you come here you can see why - right on a very quiet beach and with the perfect aspect. Everyone tells us its like beach houses when they were growing up!
The position right on the beach is the stand-out for this house and the spectacular views over Pittwater back to Palm Beach. Mackerel Beach is water access only and so there are no cars - the kids can go wild in the local community and in Kuringgai National Park.
