This scenic home is located in the quaint, historic town of Bennington, Vermont. Sit in the hot tub and enjoy the soothing sounds of South Stream, which runs right through the middle of the property where it joins the fresh mountain water from Roaring Branch on the corner of the property - thus the name "Two Brooks". This house is the last house on the road and very private and quiet, yet lies only five minutes from shopping, restaurants, cafes, bookstores, and all the conveniences of Bennington. The property backs up to thousands of acres of the Green Mountain National Forest, and the Appalachian and Long trails are just up the mountain. Nine ski resorts are within 90 minutes of the house. Enjoy full satellite TV entertainment, blazing hi-speed HughesNetInternet service, and telephone during your stay while relaxing on a large leather sectional with recliners.
The cabin was clean and quiet and suited our needs for the weekend. The hot tub was enjoyable, although I would recommend that the owners purchase stairs to make exit and entry a bit easier.
We enjoyed our stay on this beautiful property. It is a perfect location to go unplugged and enjoy the sound of the river. Todd quickly responded to any questions we had.
In town for a long weekend and loved the location. The owner was prompt and very helpful as we made a mistake in booking.
FYI, The pictures are great but itâs a bit more rustic than they make it seem. Still, it was great to sit outside and hear the brooks flowing. Very quiet street! Housecleaning was a bit lacking though as there were some huge cobwebs in the corners. That was fine for us as we spend our time in a barn anyway.
Enjoyed being together in the woods. The cabin felt unclean and worn out. It would have been nice to be able to sit outside by the fire pit and stream but there wasn't any seating.
Chlorine was a bit stong in hot tub and there should be a step to get in hot tub easier. Other than that everything else was great. Would definitely recommend to others and stay again. We enjoyed are stay!
The property is great! The creek and yard were perfect for my kids. The house was ok but a few things that need attention. The back sliding door doesnât lock and is kept shut by a strip of wood at the bottom. I was alone with my kids so not having good locks bothered me. I also wasnât aware that the water supply was limited because itâs on a well. Todd replied very quickly to any questions I had.
We spent an amazing time at Todd's house. The surrounding is beautiful, we had nice walk in the forest and by the river. We had some snow during our weekend but the road was clear right away. And of course the kids loved the hot tub! Todd answered very quickly to my emails, great communication. I highly recommend this house.
The porch with hot tub overlooking the brook was exactly what made this stay a joy. And the quiet location at the end of the road. The house was adequate and the kitchen less so. Bare essentials. Not enough dishes to fill up the dishwasher or microwaveable casserole dishes or bowls to heat meals. We were happy to conserve water, but were constantly washing dishes.
House was very comfortable and the brook out back is so lovely. There's just almost no wifi or cell service. Great for disconnecting, but problematic if you want to sneak in some work, or stream anything at all. Best to come prepared for that.
Many issues throughout whole property. Dirty, rub down, and not cleaned well, if at all (food smears on cupboards/walls). Undisclosed security cameras, cloudy water in hot tub, hot tub plugged into extension cord laying on ground right where you get in and out of tub, pieces of broken chlorine tabs laying all around deck, clothes dryer literally hanging off the wall by one remaining screw, issues with well, tore up furniture, and (what appears to be) black mold in utility closet. Owner dismissed issues, was rude, insulted me, and then called me a liar. This property is currently under review by VRBO and the Vermont health department. Beware!! It was so bad we had to leave and owner was trying to get us to cancel the rest of our reservation so he could rent it out ASAP without addressing issues. Owner is out of state and told us he didn't have a maintenance person in the area. Don't let this dump ruin your vacation!
Enjoyed our stay until communicating with the owner
In truth, we really enjoyed our actual stay at the cottage. You can tell they are doing a lot of work to the place. What others need to know is that after we left we were accused of breaking the television set. Honestly, we take very good care of a property when we stay anywhere and always clean before we leave... we were sent pictures of a very damaged tv and accused of knocking it off the stand. So in good faith we tried to meet the owner somewhere in the middle and sent him extra $ just to resolve the situation. I found communication with this owner to be extremely unpleasant and was told by him "If you are so easily offended then I suggest you stick to renting hotel rooms in the future" In all of our years of using VRBO we have never ever ran into any difficulty with a property owner. This owner threatened to leave us a bad review and then accused me of making false reservation where I didn't include our daughter, when I have a confirmation from VRBO that shows 2 adults, 1 child. Others also need to know that VRBO was unwilling to step in and help resolve the situation and seems to not have a protocol for conflict resolution, which is unfortunate, and in this case, was needed. Overall it really put a damper on our stay and overall experience.
This is a perfect house just to get away from it all , at the end of the dirt road sitting on the back porch watching the stream go by, it doesnât get much more relaxing than this just to get away from me lol
Overall it was okay. There were spots that were in disrepair. Two of the 3 overhead fans weren't working; the footrest on one side of the sofa was broken, the kitchen was the biggest disappointed because I wanted to try some new recipes but all of the kitchen equipment was as old as I am. There wasn't much there. It is not heathy to use very scratched non stick surfaces
The hot tub was great and we used it several times. The grill was filthy and there wasn't even charcoal or lighter fluid. I left what we didn't use as my grill is propane.
We enjoyed our stay and the property is as presented. We had 4 adults and 1 child and we had plenty of room for us all. The house was clean and had all of the basics that we needed. Thanks for allowing us to stay!
I have worked in the real estate field for more than 25 years, and have always been fascinated by landscapes and scenery and traveling around the world. Over the years, I've located some of my favorite places and have plans to add vacation rentals to my portfolio. I also own the Van Zant House in Jacksonville, FL.
I grew up in Pennsylvania, and my parents used to take us cross country skiing in Vermont. I was a natural and loved the solitude and physical challenges of skiing trails of all difficulties. Later I learned how to downhill ski as well. This location is close to both as well as the major metro areas like Albany, Hartford Boston and New York.
This house is so very private, the last house with services on the road (there are some private rural hunting camps further out). Yet at the same time, it is just minutes from the charming, historic town of Bennington, with many cafes, shops and delis. Plus, it backs up to the Green Mountain National Forest and has two brooks flowing together on site! Four seasons of activities await nearby!
