The Oakdene Cottage - hot tub with a lake view!

Following the Provincial State of Emergency & Stay At Home Order, please note the following:

Short-term rentals (for example, cottages, cabins) are only to be provided to individuals (members of the same household) who are in need of housing.

As such, if you wish to make a reservation during the rental period of April 3-May 20, 2021 you will be required to provide us with a written statement affirming that you are an individual (members of the same household) in need of housing and thus your stay will be in compliance with the Provincial State of Emergency & Stay At Home Order and all applicable rules and regulations including but not limited to those specified in the Reopening Ontario (A Flexible Response to COVID-19) Act, 2020. You also acknowledge that these dates may be altered based on future Provincial Announcements.

Welcome to Shane and Alan’s Oakdene Cottage getaway - a newly renovated, 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom family cottage with spectacular views out over Starr Bay, just over an hour outside of Toronto. Enjoy a hydromassage in our brand new jacuzzi hot tub followed by a bonfire and sunset over Lake Scugog.

Enter through the large family rec room where you will find plenty of comfy seating, two queen size, memory foam pull out couches, and a 65” TV with a Bose sound system. There is also a games area with a foosball table, board games as well as a workspace.

The large back deck features an outdoor dining area, plenty of space to lounge and a large, brand new 7-person jacuzzi. Bose portable speakers will be available for you to use.

Upstairs you will find 4 bedrooms with memory foam mattresses, an indoor dining area, and a fully equipped kitchen. Just off the kitchen is an upper deck equipped with a propane BBQ and additional seating.

All of our beds come with freshly laundered bed linens, pillows, and duvets.

Situated in quiet Starr Bay off Lake Scugog, it’s the perfect place for boating and fishing. We offer two kayaks and a paddle boat. Down the street there is a public boat launch.

We pride ourselves on being honest and upfront with our guests and thus want to be clear regarding the lake conditions on Starr Bay. Even though the water is swimmable; The water in Starr Bay is clear but very shallow and weedy in a portion of the shallowest areas, making it harder to swim. We have included a few photos so that guests can see what we are referring to in the lake.

For guests that decide not to swim in the shallow area, the kayaks & paddleboat is an excellent transportation tool to venture out to the deeper regions of Starr Bay or further into Lake Scugog to swim.

Further, our cottage is supplied by well water. Due to below normal rainfall and low lake levels the WELL water supply is limited.

Unlike city water, a well can run dry, especially if lots of water gets used at one time. We ask if you book our cottage with a larger group to please be conscious of your usage. We will provide bottled drinking water for convenience

Between Victoria Day week and Labour Day Weekend, our preferred check in/out day is Friday - if you would like to check in or out on a different day please inquire with your dates and we will let you know if we can accommodate your request.

For this season, check in time has been set at 4 pm to allow extra time for cleaning between guests.

IMPORTANT - There is a NO tolerance policy for loud party groups. If you bring more than the stated amount of people (even for the day) and/or throw a party here, your whole group will be asked to leave immediately with no refunds.

House Rules:
Check-in: 4:00 p.m.
Checkout: 10:00 a.m.
No smoking or vaping inside the cottage
No parties or events
No music or loud noises outside after 11pm
No additional guests unless they have been pre-approved
All pets must be pre approved, additional cleaning fee may apply
Guests are responsible for disposing of their own garbage
Respect the 40km/h speed limit when entering the community
Hot Tub must ALWAYS be closed and locked when not in use
