The interior open concept main area with huge stone fireplace and 25 ft ceilings brings comfort and technology together with satellite internet and a home entertainment system that rocks the house. The newly renovated kitchen and 2 full bathrooms do not disappoint either. Stainless high-end appliances, new LG laundry machines, dual flush toilets, dishwasher... it's all there.
Dan's place is absolutely beautiful and it accommodated my whole family (7 adults and 1 toddler) comfortably. The area is beautiful and the dock and lake are stunning. It is a smaller lake and there was no traffic on the lake, which was peaceful. Dan was great at communicating and when we didn't have propane in the tank, he did say there was a backup propane canister available. The only feedback is that the listing does mention canoes and kayaks available seasonally, however there wasn't. We did have access to a SUP and a pedal boat, which was great. We would definitely stay there again.
Beautiful cottage with thoughtful decor, high ceiling, wood beams, air conditioning and high end kitchen appliances. A joy to cook on the Wolf range. Stairs to lake less daunting than they look in the photos. Incredible star gazing. And a very clean gorgeous hot tub. Easy trip to Sharbot Lake for supplies and the walk in swimming at the park beach.
This property was exactly as described and very clean! The surroundings were beautiful and relaxing. We were concerned about black flies and mosquitoes but really had no issue unless you went for a walk on the driveway. Loved sitting down at the lake. The adults and 6 yr old enjoyed the lake (bring a canoe or kayak if you can). The two 18 month olds enjoyed the paddleboat but were very content to play in the little dollarstore blow up pool we brought on the deck. Bring toys and activities for kids under 8. The cottage stayed nice and cool and the kitchen was amazingly stocked with spices and kitchen utensils. Even big pots and frying pans! There is no beach area which we knew and there is no good place to bike unless you have a total off road bike. Groceries at Deans in Sharbot Lake was the best place to buy groceries. And all the couple's went for a date to the cafe. We hope to come again.
The host, Dan, was absolutely stellar with his communication, always responding timely at all hours of the day! This really made our vacation smooth, and worry free!OVERALL LAYOUT: We easily settled into this home away from home! We loved the winding driveway through the forest, opening up to the wood paneling of the cottage and wind swept trees.BEDS AND SLEEPING: Beds were firm, and there was a large selection of pillows of various thicknesses. Overall all the beds were comfy, and we all had a great night sleep. Lots of sheets and blankets available. The 3 heat pumps and fans kept us at a great temperature. One of the rooms has no blinds, so bring an eye mask if you want to sleep in, but the natural sunlight was delightful. Floors and cottage squeaky, so headphone/earplugs if you are a light sleeper.KITCHEN AND BATHROOMS: Functionally modern while rustic kitchen made it a breeze for meal prep! Bathrooms worked well, except for a slow filling second toilet.LAKE: Our family prefers a more sandy entrance into the water, and unfortunately there were lots of weeds off the dock for quite a ways out. So we took advantage of the fishing, paddleboat, and the SUP. Luckily, sandy beaches are only 30 minutes away!Overall, we had a very memorable time! Thanks, Dan!
We enjoyed our 10 day stay on Garrison Lake. We were fortunate to be there after a rainy season and easily paddled through the lake and down the salmon river. There were a handful of other paddlers on the lake, but often we were the only ones out there â in the height of summer.
The stairs to the dock are exactly as pictured, and straight off the houseâs deck. While I didnât go in the hot tub, itâs also right there off the other side of the deck.
House is equipped with everything you need and then some â convection oven, dishwasher, etc. Appliances are new and work well. We struggled with the plumbing the upstairs toilet was slow to refill and shower pressure minimal and the downstairs shower was very slow to drain. We went with a rinse off only vacation policy.
AC worked well, but there are lots of windows to catch the cross breeze. Not needed except on the hottest of days.
The property is not located within the circle shown in VRBO. Iâve never had that happen before. It is off highway 7, which I wish Iâd known before renting. That said, you cannot hear the highway from the house; you can hear it from the deck when thereâs no wind; you can consistently hear it on the lake. Itâs not disruptive, but itâs a steady hum. I could hear it well down the Salmon river, so expect itâs true for all properties in the area.
All in all we would love to revisit.
We had a very lovely stay at the cottage. We kept ourselves to the main floor only and made great use of the sunny patio and shaded, screened gazebo. Fire ban was in effect so couldnt comment on the firepit or fireplace. We did not use the hot tub (ya, I know... crazy). The mudroom at the front was great for loading and unloading without letting bugs into the main house. We arrived without a level 2 charging cable, but Dan was great about letting us use his secret plug with our portable Level 1 charger. The kitchen is very well appointed which makes cooking on vacation a joy. Real handy having a fridge that makes ice.The view of the water is lovely and we were able to get out for a paddleboat as well. You also aren't so far away that you can't get into Perth for a day or spend some time in a provincial park. A brewery is also a short drive away, as are gas stations.A few little notes:* The mattress in the room (downstairs) we used was quite firm; maybe try a different room if you need a little more squish in your sleep. * There were waspy bugs and other flying things getting in from ?somewhere? Can't be helped, but we did have to take care of a couple. You are by the lake, after all...* There was no replacement Kleenex and conditioner was empty in the main floor bathroom. Had to steal some from upstairs.* Plan for slow cottage internet. Streaming Samsung TV in the main room served us well for entertainment. They are well stocked with many DVDs/Blurays.Really 4.5!
My family of four spent 13 days here and enjoyed the peace of getting away into nature in a very comfortable setting. Very nice cottage with all the necessary comforts and facilities.
A Unique Timber Frame Luxury Cottage Thatâs Great for Families
We stayed at this property in August 2021 for a family vacation for 3 generations. The property is a beautiful post-and-beam house and has many great updates. The kitchen is especially well-appointed with high-end appliances and every tool and gadget you would need. User-friendly entertainment system for movies and music. Access to lake allowed us to enjoy paddling in the day and stargazing at night. Itâs a tranquil setting and free from noisy traffic and large motor boats. Everyone had a great time.
Private, quiet natural forest setting close to numerous artist communities, beaches and outdoor activities. Luxuriously appointed, featuring a gourmet kitchen and state-of-the-art entertainment system. You won't see a neighbour during your entire stay. 70 acres of forest trails and 1,000 feet of total waterfront!
