Welcome to Bear Paw, a cozy vacation rental retreat nestled on Ski Mountain in Gatlinburg. This two-bedroom Gatlinburg cabin rental is a perfect romantic getaway or family escape. The one-level home is an especially great option for those with young children, or guests with specific accessibility needs. It only requires three stairs to access the entry via the deck, and no stairs once inside.

Inside, the inviting great room features beautiful wood floors and plush furnishings, including recliners. Watch your favorite team on the TV (we’ve got cable!) while enjoying the warmth and coziness of the crackling fireplace. The charming dining area is perfect for meals, games, or puzzles, and the fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops is a culinary dream.

As you head down the hallway, you’ll find a refreshing guest bathroom with a sauna, along with two king bedrooms, each with a TV. One bedroom even has its own ensuite bathroom and a stacked washer/dryer.

Step outside to the deck for breathtaking mountain views, a sizzling grill, and a soothing hot tub, perfect for unwinding after a long day spent in the Smokies.

Guests of this Gatlinburg chalet rental have access to three clubhouses, the closest to Bear Paw being the S. Baden Clubhouse, which has a large outdoor pool, changing rooms/showers, shuffleboard, horseshoes, a playground, tennis courts, a gym, and a game room with billiards, ping pong, foosball, checkers/chess, and video games.

Our family of 4 had a great stay at this property! It was the perfect size and set up for us. The hot tub was great. The kitchen was stocked with what we needed. The sauna was a great addition but we didn’t end up with any extra time to try it out. Check-in and check-out process was super easy. I would definitely recommend this for families with a couple of kids.

We enjoyed the Mountain Views while staying there. We seen 5 bears. One day we seen a bear outside in the driveway and later found out it was on our truck because we had bear paws all over the bed of our truck. Hence the name of the home! One bed frame in the room to the right needs to be replaced. It would squeak a lot when you moved. Also, we couldn’t get the tv to work in the other room. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.

Housekeeping always does a bang up job as well as Mt Laurel Chalets. Hubby and I have back issues and I can't do stairs. It is perfect for that situation. I think the only thing I would recommend to the owners would be to put a hand held shower head in the big shower so if someone is a little challenged they could take a shower sitting down. I expect at some point to have to do that and would love to continue coming down and using only Bear Paw and that would be a huge plus. We love the recliners so please don't ever change that. Thank you for renting your home to us oldies. We appreciate your special attention and touches.

Reserved Angles Retreat ended up in Bear Paw

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We reserved Angels Retreat because of the location and the amenities. We ended up at Bear Paw, which was nice and had a decent view, because after unloading everything into Angles Retreat (which is down a bunch of steps covered in snow) we noticed little black things all over the kitchen and dining area! There were mice droppings in the sink, on counter tops, on the floor, on top of the refrigerator, even a nest in one of the drawers! I've got pictures because I thought no one would ever believe just how bad it was! We immediately called the office which had closed but the phone rang and rang with no answer. We did not want to stay but could not get a hold of anyone (you need to put the afterhours number in your books in the chalet!!) An hour later I tried the number again and got the after hours number and luckily, Clint answered the phone! IF we ever rent from this company again it will be because of Clint! Within 20 minutes we had loaded our stuff back up and moved down to Bear Paw. He even made us promise to call him if anything at all was wrong with the new house. Do you know not one person has reached out to us from the office? Even when I called the day we were leaving, the person was really nice and when I told her who we were she didn't say a word and said "Great, I'll check you out." No apology not even a thank you for cleaning the stairs off at Angels Retreat! We didn't scream or yell about what happened and I have given them over 2 weeks to reach out to us with just a simple apology BUT NOPE NOT A WORD! Then they sent me a request for a review a second time! So here's your review: The after hours guy is worth gold but the property maintenance and office staff are useless. In 30 years of staying at chalets this is the first time we have ever encountered a rat infestation and it's also the first time we have used Mt. Laurel. For over $500 you would think they could at least check to make sure there are no mice and put salt down!

I am sorry for your great disappointment and the lack of apology at your check out or thereafter. Clint is a part of our team and also serves as after hours service calls and we are glad to hear that Clint served your needs and made sure you were made right with this experience. We check our chalets between each booking and see that your inspection was done a few days before your arrival. In that amount of time, the critters were able to enter and leave proof. We are taking this feedback and have hired an additional inspector so that we can be in the homes the same day of your arrival to address these issues which happen in the mountains. As you checked out, it may have not been noted on the booking that this change was made and for that we deeply apologize for not providing an apology from the person who checked you out. We try to address issues immediately and from your feedback we will make sure to get updated reports in the future as a team to make sure that every guest who has an unfortunate experience is followed up with even after the situation has been addressed. We are glad that Clint provided you an opportunity to call him if there were any more concerns. We hope you will give us another opportunity to exceed expectations on your next visit.

Thanksgiving Stay

The only drawback to this property was the living room furniture. The sofa had reclining chairs which was a good/bad thing. The reclining aspect was nice, but it was uncomfortable laying crosswise due to the hard bars dividing the seating sections. If you were here in the summer doing lots of outdoor activities this would be a non-issue. However, we were spending the week enjoying family time, watching movies, etc, so this was a bit of a drawback for us. Otherwise the property was very private, the hottub was hot, the beds were comfortable, and the view was beautiful!

Ultimate cabin stay

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was one of the best cabins we have stayed at. The location was amazing and you could see the mountains through your window and from the deck. It was absolutely clean and spotless. It is spacious. We were a party of 2 adults and 2 kids and were really comfortable. The location is perfect and you are in Gatlinburg and yet away from the crowd. The property management was very responsive and helpful. The drive to the property is pretty steep but you get used to it pretty quick. We would be staying here again for sure on our next visit.

Bear Paw is a great chalet, and we are so glad that yo were able to enjoy it! We agree that the location is great, it allows you to enjoy Gatlinburg, but also feel so far away in the mountains. We always want to be very responsive to our guests, and make sure that we are helping them in any way we can! We look forward to having you back at Bear Paw for your next visit.

We loved Bear Paw!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We absolutely loved our stay at Bear Paw!!! The view was amazing and the chalet was super clean! We had daily visits from bears. We had a bobcat walk up the driveway one evening. The squirrels and birds would visit the railing on the deck looking for some bread. The comical squirrels would even bunt their head against the chalet glass door to the deck letting you know they were there. We also had a shy sweet tabby cat that would stop by daily looking for some goodies. We sure do miss seeing all these furry and feathered guys!! :) We have stayed with MLC for many years and there is a good reason for that, they are the BEST!! Thank you so much for another awesome vacation!! Also the owners have done incredible work on this chalet, thank you for sharing your beautiful home!! We would love to stay again at Bear Paw!!!

Bear paw doesn't disappoint

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is our 2nd time in Bear paw but this time with Mt Laurel. Much better than last with Vrbo. Housekeeping does a fantastic job. Kitchen is fully stocked to cook there. Trimming was done so a better view. We are of the older generation so it's nice to have everything on one level including the ramp in...only 3 steps up to the ramp. Washer dryer a great plus. Only suggestion we would make is for safety reasons. Leaving out at bottom of driveway BE VERY CAREFUL. It's hard to see anything coming around that blind curve on your left. One of those mirrors we've seen on other curves would be excellent there. We actually came close to being hit one morning. Otherwise we would definitely stay there again and not hesitate to use Mt Laurel to rent from.

Great Cabin.

Great stay

Road and driveway can be tough for anyone not comfortable with twisting roads and heights!

Bear Paw is worth the drive up Ski Mountain

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We really enjoyed our stay in Bear Paw during the last week in April 2021. The chalet has been nicely furnished abd updated with granite counters in the kitchen and both bathrooms, and the hardwood flooring throughout the living and dining areas is beautiful. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to prepare meals—just bring the food and you’re all set. Seating in the living room is comfortable but for tv viewing, it is limited to a sofa. Just some suggestions ... There is a recliner in a corner and it would be nice to rearrange a bit so the tv could be seen from it. Printed instructions for operating the main TV and the TVs in the bedrooms would be helpful, and a printed TV guide would be nice to have, as well. Some board games, books, DVDs, etc., would also be a nice touch. The drive up to the chalet is quite steep in spots, but it’s doable and you get used to it after the first trip up. After all, you’ve got to climb a little bit to get to what most of us come to Gatlinburg for, the panoramic views of the mountains. Bear Paw certainly did not disappoint in that regard! It’s a very nice cozy, one-level chalet that would perfect for two couples or a small family. We’d be happy to stay there again!

Thanks for the review and we are glad you enjoyed your stay at Bear Paw. The view from the deck is both relaxing and beautiful, so the steep drive is definitely worth it and quite manageable, just trust your car to get you there. We discovered a remote was missing for the living room television and got a replacement, so that may have contributed to your difficulty with operating the TV in the living room. The chalet is new to our program and was recently updated and the hot tub deck has been replaced as well. The homeowner also has plans to replace the railings so the view can be enjoyed from a seated position. We appreciate your other suggestions and hope you will call us again soon.
