I traveled to Cape Coral with my wife, three kids, and in-laws. The home provided a great family retreat for us and we recommend it to others traveling to the area.
We were very disappointed in the lack of communication from Roelens Vacation property manager. She never returned calls and was not easily accessible. The houseâs bedroom carpets were filthy, two big holes in the wall where the tv once hung in the family room, the curtain rod just fell down off the wall while we were there, and the dock is in terrible shape (rotted and loose boards everywhere). The pool was the best part of this home- very nice. Would not return to this home unless it is updated and with different property management.
House is fine, management company (Roelens Vacations) not so much.
The house, and all of its amenities were good as advertised. The house is a little dated, but I believe that is already reflected in its nightly rate, as it is reasonably priced for its location. My rating is strictly based on how Roelens Vacations handled the fallout of Hurricane Ian. We originally had it reserved for October 2022, but due to the Hurricane Ian and it only being less than a month after the storm, everything in Cape Coral was still shut down, but Roelens was insisting that the property was ready to go even though the pool and hot tub would not be operational, not to mention the beach and most resteraunts/stores/etc were all closed. It took multiple calls for Roelens to even consider letting me switch dates, and even that was for only 1 year and we would have to play any difference in rates. We chose the same week in 2023, and they upcharged us 25% more. Needless to say we will never rent from a Roelens managed property again.

Bad attitude
We were very disappointed in our stay. While the house had lots of room for us; it needs a deep cleaning. The property managers were very responsive to our problems at the house, but the property owners were very difficult to deal with. We tried early on after the hurricane to cancel our stay in Cape Coral, but the owners were very rigid on their 3 day cancellation policy. They did not respond to our questions about the damage to the property in a timely matter nor were they willing to work with us on rescheduling our stay once beaches reopened. That should have been our first red flag. Once I realized they were so inflexible I researched the beach they say is a 1/4 mile away I found that even before the hurricane, the beach had been closed for renovations. But they never mentioned that when I asked about the beach when I first booked before the hurricane. The advertising of their property was very deceptive. The pool and hot tub are the only reason the place gets 2 stars from me. If the beaches in Ft. Meyers had been open our stay would have been more pleasant but to get to a decent beach, we had to drive an hour and a half. Very disappointing stay.
Usually I book my vacations well in advance, but this time we decided to do a quick last minute getaway. For the price and location this was our best option. The location of the property was nice, unfortunately since the hurricane alot of homes were damaged or torn down so we had the unpleasant sounds of construction equipment running during our stay. The listing showed furniture on the dock (we like to fish) but when we got there there was only one chair and a table. While looking in the water by the boat dock, we found the missing furniture. The air conditioner wasn't working properly when we arrived, so we waited a few hours before calling the property manager. She was pleasant to deal with and got someone out there within an hour of us calling (9pm). The air conditioner was fixed in no time. The dishwasher didn't work, we tried running it several times before again reaching out to the property manager. We told her not to worry about sending anyone out, just check on it when we leave. The beds to us were not comfortable, but to each is own I guess. My husband and I spent most of our days outside relaxing in the pool, however our 2 kids(teen and preteen) were bored. We did check out the local areas such as Fort Myers beach and Matlacha for some shopping. And Gator Mikes for some minigolf, arcades and gocarts.
Location was perfect where we walked to the beach each morning and then came back to swim for the rest of the day. With small kids the attached hot tub and ledge pool could not have worked out better. We loved our sunrises and sunsets out on the dock. Even got to see dolphins swimming around the dock and under right in front of us. Only suggestions I would have is some new sets of bath towels and wash clothes along with some updated pillows. But those are super small things, when we had everything else right there for us!
The pool, hot tub, and outdoor dock sitting area is what makes this house a great place to stay.
The house is in need of a few minor handyman updates and although there is a TV in each bedroom, you'll need to bring your own streaming devices.
Property was in a nice area with a convenient location to just about everything you would need or want. The place itself was great. Did need some TLC here and there but nothing that made my visit unpleasant.
We had a 3 generation vacation including 2 small children and 2 infants. The house was perfect for all ages. Having a pool and boat dock was perfect to enjoy the Florida lifestyle. The house was an older home but clean and in good condition. There were several entertaining areas both inside and outside. I would highly recommend!
