Nestled on a charming, sustainable farm dedicated to preserving endangered heritage breeds of chickens, cows, and pigs, our cozy yurt offers a unique and tranquil retreat. Whether you're an animal lover, nature enthusiast, or simply in need of a peaceful getaway, this is the perfect spot to unwind and reconnect with the land.

The Yurt:
Our spacious yurt comfortably accommodates up to 4 guests, offering a peaceful, off-grid experience with all the charm of rustic living. Wake up to the sound of birds chirping and the gentle hum of farm life as you sip your morning coffee on the private deck. The yurt is equipped with cozy bedding, comfortable seating, and basic amenities, providing the perfect balance of comfort and simplicity.

Farm & Heritage Breeds:
During your stay, you'll be surrounded by our diverse farm animals, including endangered heritage breed chickens, cows, and pigs. Learn about the efforts we're making to preserve these rare breeds and enjoy the sights and sounds of farm life up close. You may even get a chance to meet our animals, feed them, or learn about our sustainable farming practices.

Outdoor Adventures:
Explore 70 acres of beautiful, forested land with tranquil trails that wind through the woods and beside a serene spring-fed pond. Hike, birdwatch, or just enjoy the peaceful surroundings. After a day of exploring, relax in the traditional Finnish-style sauna, nestled beside the pond—perfect for unwinding after a day in nature.

The Campfire & Relaxation:
As the evening draws in, gather around the campfire pit for a cozy, starry-night experience. Roast marshmallows, enjoy good company, and take in the calming atmosphere of the farm. The night skies here are stunning, offering a perfect backdrop for some star-gazing.

Sauna: Enjoy a relaxing sauna experience with views of the pond.

Farm Tours: Learn about our heritage breeds and sustainable farming practices (available upon request).

Whether you're looking for a weekend of relaxation or an immersive farm experience, our yurt offers the perfect home base for your agritourism adventure. We can’t wait to welcome you to our little piece of paradise!


Guests have private access to the yurt and dedicated outdoor washroom facilities, ensuring a peaceful and comfortable stay. You'll also enjoy shared access to the rest of the farm, including the gardens, animal areas, and over 50 acres of forested trails—perfect for hiking, birdwatching, or simply soaking in the tranquility of nature.

A shared shower facility is available for guest use during your stay, located a short walk from the yurt.

Parking:
From June to September, guests may park directly beside the yurt for easy access. From October to May, due to wet ground conditions, parking is available at the front of the farm. During these months, you'll enjoy a scenic 3-minute walk to reach the yurt from the parking area.

Guests are welcome to explore and enjoy the farm, gardens, and forest trails. We kindly ask that you observe a “look but don’t touch” policy around the animals for everyone’s safety and comfort.

📾 Photos are encouraged! The farm offers unique photographic opportunities, with stunning golden hour light, sunsets over open fields, and breathtaking stargazing under dark skies—perfect for both casual snapshots and serious photography.

We had such a wonderful New Year’s stay in this cozy yurt! It was the perfect mix of peaceful nature and comfort
beautiful trails, lovely farm friends, and the sauna was an absolute dream, especially in the winter. The setting on the heritage farm is so charming and relaxing, and everything was clean, warm, and thoughtfully set up. Such a special place to unplug and welcome the new year. Thanks so much for being such great hosts!

This double yurt is in a private area of the farm that is accessible by car and has plenty of space inside to spread out and relax. The Finnish sauna by the pond is a must and the shower by the farmhouse, a short walk away, is a great addition. There is a BBQ for cooking but we did use our own little camp stove for morning coffee and toast. A great back to nature experience with a view across the fields.

My family really enjoyed our stay at Foxfire Heritage Farm. What a unique way to camp in the comfort of a 2 pod yurt. They had everything that we needed minus a shower. There was lots of firewood for our cold nights but it was only softwood...which had me up every couple hours to restoke. The beds were very comfortable and the power pack was such a convenience to keep our phones charged. We really loved being able to explore the property and visit with all the animals. What an awesome experience!

When I’m not tending to the animals, I enjoy exploring our trails, working in the garden, and dreaming up new ways to make our farm even more inviting. We chose this beautiful corner of Powassan, Northern Ontario, because it offers the perfect mix of peaceful seclusion and connection to a warm, welcoming community. Our farm sits among rolling fields, pine forests, and a spring-fed pond, surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. The quiet here is something special—you can hear the wind through the trees, the call of loons on still mornings, and the crackle of a campfire at night.

Powassan itself is a charming farming community with a proud agricultural heritage. Neighbors wave as they pass, and the pace of life is slower and more intentional. We love being close to local farmers markets, where the season’s freshest produce and handmade goods are on display, and where you can truly get to know the people who grow and make them.

One of the things we enjoy most about this area is its natural beauty in every season.
