Enjoyed our time at the Sunflower! Spent five days with my husband, adult daughters and dogs. The house was easy to find and central to all of our activities. My dogs appreciated the large yard. Beds were comfortable. I loved all the light from windows and skylights.
This is our second trip to Sunflower Cottage and the location is perfect. Near wineries, markets and the lake, this charming cottage has turned into our go-to spot for a fall getaway!!
The cottage was in sad condition overall on the outside. The yard was overgrown with massive weeds and dead trees everywhere you looked. The porch was dirty and unusable really. Minimal outdoor furniture to utilize and what was there was also dirty. Looked like no one actually cared the yard and deck areas were a mess. Hot tub was ok, too much chlorine was added. The home was clean but lacked in adequate cutlery and cookware. The pots and pans all had flaking Teflon and that's a major disappointment for people who look to rent homes like this to be able to cook for themselves. I'm not asking for upscale, but garbage is another story. Very few of the knives were sharp and we had to rewash all of the silverware. It's rundown, but clean on the inside. Beds were comfortable and rooms very nicely decorated. Upstairs loft is way too hot. The AC didn't work up there and fans didn't do much to help.
Everything was nice, the grounds are nice ,the feeling of seclusion was nice. Very nice overall experience.
Sitting in the hot tub in the cool
morning as the sun lit up the trees.
The cottage was clean and cozy. It was close to everything we needed to do and gave us the perfect place to hang as a family at night. We will definitely go back.
This was the perfect spot to wind down and relax. It is close to the many wonderful vineyards in the area and to hiking and nature. The owners were wonderful to work with.
This is an absolutely delightful place to stay. The house is well cared for and has great character. It is well equipped with what you need for your stay. The hosts are kind and responsive. It is in the perfect location to enjoy so much of what the Finger Lakes has to offer. We loved that it has a large yard and was quiet and relaxing. The hot tub was an added bonus! We would definitely plan to return here.
Clean and comfortable cottage. Somewhat remote feeling, and not very convenient to Corning Museum, which was the focus of our trip - 45 minutes away. Nice outdoor setting with a hot tub. No view of the lake which we (perhaps mistakenly) thought we would have. It is less than a 1/2 mile from the lake.
We had a girls weekend, doing some wine tasting on Keuka Lake. Although not on the lake, the house is close to Hammondsport and wineries. We really enjoyed staying here, lots of room for all of us, beds were comfy, and we loved the hot tub! One thing to note, if youâre planning on cooking a meal, itâs better to bring your own pots and pans. The ones in the house are small and very beat up. Only one cutting board too.
Totally enjoyed our stay at Sunflower Cottage. Very clean. Comfortable beds. Plenty of towels. Nicely decorated and mostly everything provided.
Hot tub a plus. Sitting on deck with the expansive natural setting was heavenly.
Didnât want to leave.
A picnic table on the deck to enjoy the beautiful surroundings would have been a plus. Also, insect repellent candles/buckets definitely needed. This, however, did not deter us from having a wonderful family getaway.
Great clean relaxing properly. Lake view in title doesn't exist.
Clean, comfortable. relaxed. Hot tub was great. well kept. internet was sketchy and mostly didnt work. No lake view. more of a wooded view 1/8 mile from lake. But if you are visiting wineries its the perfect crash spot. has anout 6 dead trees on properly so could use some outdoor maintenance. unable to check in early but that is stated. inflexible but were left alone.
we would def stay there again.
Cleanliness of property -First outside impression was disappointing, uneven steps, overgrown, in need of some cosmetics and a squirrel or other rodent had been in the breaker box-Not what I expected from the 5 star reviews or a premier host. However, looking back through the photos of the property, other than the lake not being in view - they are accurate, the write up on the listing was not the most accurate but I did receive an email that there were updates made after I spoke to the property owner. The inside was spacious and the bedrooms are beautifully decorated. Lawn furniture in the living room was disappointing but again looking through the photos they are accurate. Check in process was easy and the property owner was communicative with me throughout the stay regarding the concerns and disappointments. The location was perfect for what we wanted to do in the area.
The house was clean and comfortable. We all enjoyed the hot tub, sitting on the wrap-around porch, and the fire pit. I would suggest adding a few more chairs to the porch. There were 0nly 2. WE had brought some additional folding chairs for sitting by the lake so it was not a problem during our stay. The neighborhood was quiet and the house was easy to find. At the recommendation of the property owners we rented canoes from Reagan's. Reagan's was very accommodating. Although it was very safe to leave a bike outside - I did not bring my own. I prefer to keep them indoors - especially if it rains - which it did one night. However, i did rented a bike from Shoreline and they were great. Overall - a wonderful few days away from home - Thank you Pat for your suggestions...
We enjoyed our stay. We would rent again. We were happy with the size of the house and property. The house was clean. The kitchen was nicely equipped. The beds and linens were comfortable. Please note the following. House Description: The house is 2 bedrooms and 1 open loft. The description in my opinion doesn't make that clear enough. We did not observe a partial lake view from the property. Maybe this changes when the leaves fall. Safety: In walking the perimeter of the property with our dog (we did not stray far from the house, no more than 50-75 feet from the house) we found 3 ticks on our dog on 2 separate occasions and 1 tick imbedded on my upper leg. We are certain this occurred from walking the property as the ticks were jumping on him and found immediately after the walks. Please be careful and check all of your 2 and 4 legged family members for ticks.
All in all we enjoyed our stay. The property itself is very nice, the hot tub works and the house is warm (we were there in the winter for Christmas). It's cozy and clean. The natural light is very nice in the house too. A few things to note: The internet does not work properly which made working remotely very difficult. We ended up needing to use our phones as hot spots which uses data and is expensive. The first day/night we were there the TV didn't work (internet issues) because it was raining and we were told by the property manager that it has issues when it rains and that we should try and scrape ice off of the satellite dish, but we were unable to find the brush that they mentioned to do this with. Something else to note is that the water is sulfur water and smells like eggs (we were not warned of this, I recommend bringing your own drinking water). The hot tub is nice but had very small and hard particles floating in the water and stuck to the seats which messed up my wife's bathing suit. We felt that for the price and for the cleaning fee that it was odd that we were asked to bring our own trash bags and paper towels. Also, my mother last minute decided to join us for Christmas and we forgot to let the owners know so we were charged $135. So make sure to let them know or that could happen to you! Im sure in the warmer months the location has some nice qualities being close to the lake and wineries but we were there to have some quiet family time which we did have.
Pat and Brenda, and their two youngest sons, Mike and Jeff, own and operate a hospitality business in the Finger Lakes since 2006 [Savannah House Wine Country Inn and Cottages]. This includes a country Inn and several private cottages. Each year we have the highest rating in the area.
As soon as we saw this property, we were captivated by it. We knew it would make a wonderful vacation rental. The property is 13 acres, mostly wooded, and is exceptionally scenic and organic. Very private. The house faces south and receives a great deal of sunlight because of all the windows and glass doors. The floor plan is open making for a very roomy feel, but also very cozy with three electric fireplaces.
