The host was nice and conscientious. We had to change our reservation after booking and the system mischarged us. The host patiently worked with us & VRBO support to straighten it out. He communicated with us several times, including a day before our arrival, providing phone numbers in case we had issues-even though he was overseas.
Having 2.5 baths was outstanding. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, teas, spices, etc. (although a few were expired). The property has a very nice deck, and the living area is comfortable and airy. Some in our group liked the pervasive Asian motif and some did not. The walls of the tatami bedroom are paper, which means the occupant hears all the sounds from downstairs. The property shows signs of wear and tear, such as nonworking lightbulbs, window shades that don't close completely, nail holes in walls that should be filled, etc., but these minor items did not affect our enjoyment.
If you like the vibe of a ski resort town in summer, the location is hard to beat. We walked to the Girdwood Forest Fair (highly recommended), and it was a short drive to the Alyeska resort where we hiked the mountain and enjoyed a Nordic spa. We visited the Wildlife Conservation Center to see the animals we missed in the wild and watched a couple guys surf the bore tide. Girdwood is a convenient place to end a trip before heading to the Anchorage airport. I would recommend this property.
