We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hali'i Kai! Within minutes of booking the manager reached out and confirmed. We had excellent communication and received all the access codes we needed to make our late arrival smooth and easy. The unit was exactly as it appears in photos but was even more comfortable than we expected. Having rented other units in Waikaloa previously, it was a change to have a place so well stocked with regular costco house & laundry supplies and carefully decorated to make it homey. The master bed was extremely comfortable and we loved the large walk-in shower. We especially enjoyed our morning coffee out on the lanai and seeing all the birds that come around daily. Lastly, we really appreciated the manager flexibility with our late check-out so we could get one last swim at our favorite beach before flying home!
The good:Property is in a nice, well-maintained & landscaped community with pool right on the coast. Area has range of shops/restaurants/golf for easy access. Condo had good quantities of basics you expect in a mod/high end place. The not so good:Owner was easy to communicate with but onsite mgmt company for the neighborhood is horrible! 2 of 3 office staff we met were flat out rude, condescending & completely unwelcoming. This treatment was observed as others checked in too. They make it nearly impossible to use amenities like pickleball - must check out a net during limited office hours, yet nets are never there & never on the courts. We've never stayed somewhere that didn't have the nets ON the courts! It's a gated neighborhood, simply ridiculous. The 'resort fee' gives you the privilege of one, one and only one pool towel. This despite the fact the cushions on the pool loungers were disgustingly stained with who knows what, making use of the pool a bit gross. The overall attitude is geared to pleasing their residents & long-term/repeat guests while not so quietly telling others that you're really not welcome.Lastly on the condo, we rent 3-6 VRBO's per year and we know every owner takes a different approach to what they provide, but I'll never understand the unwillingness to provide even a single pot worth of coffee to help guests get the first morning off to a good start.Ok place & good location, but definitely not a great mgmt company for the community.
My family had a great time here. The description of property is spot on. Condo is in vacated community that is very well manicured. The pool area is gorgeous with a great view. The owner was very responsive and condo had all sorts of equipment and was very well stopped. I especially liked that there were reusable water bottles to use on excursions. Next time we go to the Big Island we will definitely book this location
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Susanâs house. It was exactly as described. The kitchen has everything you would ever need. We used the barbecue on the lanai several times and loved our meals out there watching the golfers come by. On the day it rained we sat out there and played cards and had a wonderful day.
The beds are super comfortable. We enjoyed the Ocean Club for meals, drinks and workouts and for some great whale watching.
I would book this house again in a heartbeat. Susan is an excellent host and did everything to make our stay extra special.
Perfect condo and location (just a short walk to pools and restaurant/bar). Plenty of whale sightings from the pool area, and centrally located in Waikoloa near plenty of great restaurants and shops. Can't wait to go back!
We had a wonderful stay here, our host provided everything we needed and the location was perfect. Cannot recommend the location enough, the pool/restaurant/bar is on of the best places to catch the sunset on the island! We will be back!
Our family appreciated the comfortable beds, tasteful decor, and ease of check-in/out. Loved the open air fitness center ocean front! Nice walking paths on the property. Close to Island Gourmet which was a god-send for quality food. Our host Susan was very friendly, helpful and cared about our comfort. We went to all the beaches on her recommended list. Thank you!
Great condo, very well provisioned, excellent location. Complex amenities are great, kids really enjoyed the pool, a short walk away. Sunsets at the pool were fabulous. Very responsive hosts. Canât wait to come back.
We stay at HaliâIâKai every year and as always it never disappoints! This unit was great, communication with Susan was really easy and she got back to me really quickly with any questions I had. Would definitely stay here again!
Love Waikoloa. The condo was great and the private restaurant in the point overlooking the Ocean was great for relaxing, whale watching etc. highly recommend
We loved this condo. Plenty of room for our family of 4. The cooler was VERY useful. Towels, boogie boards helped cut down on luggage. Quick walk to the pool. The pool was PERFECT for our 4 and 6 year old kids. The pool restaurant and bar were SO convenient, especially since getting reservations at nearby restaurants wasn't as easy as years past. The owner was VERY easy to work with. Provided information quickly and thoroughly. We highly recommend this condo.
Wonderful stay at Susan's place on the Big Island. We stayed for 5 weeks with our 4-6month old baby. Perfect for a family - the pool area is one of the best in the area and the apartment was very well equipped for a baby (high chair, cot etc.) Susan couldn't have been for friendly and helpful and we look forward to a return visit!
This property is a great choice for families. My family of 4 just returned from a 7 day stay and had a wonderful time. The unit has everything you need for a great vacation. The kitchen is well equipped. There are also 2 closets full of beach and sports items that we took full advantage of. The owner is very responsive to questions and invested in making sure you have a great experience. Highly recommend.
This first floor condo gem was perfect for our stay. The kitchen was stocked with cooking supplies, the bedrooms, baths and family room were nice and spacious. There was also a washer/dryer in the unit which was ideal. The whole resort was meticulously kept, with manicured yards and blooming flowers throughout. And the pool and spa were delightful, offering a lovely view of the ocean and a great restaurant. There are also many other restaurants as well as shopping in the area. Beautiful. Peaceful. Great location. Highly recommended!
My husband and I call the Big Island of Hawaii home. We live on the Hamakua coast where we own and operate an organic tea plantation, which hosts tours/tastings and events. We have a passion for growing vegetables, exotic flowers, and botanicals. Our condo in Hali'i Kai is our getaway on the other side of the island when we want to get out of the tea fields and enjoy resort living.
